ALPHA'S REBOUND

Olivia Colman gazed at the enormous ship parked at a distance in satisfaction, the ship was yet to set sail, but the promise of pleasure and enjoyment it held was enough to get her excited.

The vacation was well deserved. Working with werewolves day to day and every hour was beginning to mess with her head. She worked as an auditor at a flourishing telecommunication line, her role which apparently doesn't involve being with company appears to be the opposite.

They were everywhere like flies, in every hundred of people she meets they will always hold the greater percentage. She was tired of it, but what could she do? They were all living together now.

She strongly hoped she wouldn't encounter one on the cruise ship.

It will be nearly impossible to see one there anyways, werewolves always need to go on a run every morning in order to keep their wolves in check. The cruise is a three day trip on water, they would have gone rogue before they could get on solid ground. The more reason she chose a boat trip as a getaway.

Doing a rain check on all her packed luggage, she made sure that none of her bikinis were forgotten. That in fact, would make the trip very painful. It will ruin her plan of sitting by the water all day, with book in hand, and the sun tanning her fair skin.

She could almost feel it, and now the thought of her fantasy just made her more anxious for the thrilling feeling.

She mounted the boat and signed all the necessary documents, not forgetting to pay more for a proper well structured cabin. She was willing to spend even her life savings on this trip, so far she could get the comfort that she deserved and get away from the craziness of the world.

It was evening when the ship finally began to sail. It was soothing to realize she was finally away from it all, it was as if a weight was lifted off her chest, a weight she didn't even know she was carrying.

She stepped out of her cabin to the observation deck where she watched as the ship slowly moved away from land.

The howling of wolves drawed her attention to the pack of werewolves running afar-off. Her hatred for the creatures burned in her heart, extreme dislike and disgust enclosed her mind. Oh! How she loathed them.

"Malicious creatures aren't they?" She muttered aloud as she continued to gaze at them. She felt a presence loom beside her some minutes ago, jumping on striking a conversation with a normal human like her-which seemed to be really rare to find- she commented.

"I wouldn't say that" Liam Wagner replied the pretty lady who was gazing at the pack of wolves playing and exercising among themselves.

She was a petite lady, probably around 5'3". She had a stunning brunette hair which cascaded down her back, contrasting beautifully with her fair skin. Her flora gown looked fantastic on her, accentuating her feminine figure. She looked really beautiful, like a goddess.

He could feel the aversion she had towards them, he couldn't help wondering why. They were beautiful and tolerable creatures, protective and possessive of their loved ones.

He didn't think anyone would ever dislike a werewolf, and it wasn't just because he was one. It was because he had lived among humans enough to know how spiteful and vicious they could get. A trait that is uncommon among werewolves.

"You wouldn't say that? It's so exhausting that i have to live with them and work with them everyday of my life. I always feel nostalgic of what the world used to be before the great war" She uttered as she laid her chin on the balcony of the deck, agony and dejection radiating off her.

Liam found himself intrigued by her. She depicted so much enigma that he wanted to forget all about his problems and listen to hers. He found her a good distraction, and he decided to pursue the conversation further.

"You remember the great war?" He asked as he moved closer to her side of the deck. She looked up at him with a look of disbelief.

"How old do you think i am. Of course i was alive at the time" she exclaimed. Olivia couldn't believe anyone would ask her such questions, the great war happened 18 years ago. She wouldn't call herself old, but she was old enough to understand what was going on.

The great war was the war that happened between the werewolf specie and the human race. It happened a long time ago, Olivia could remember the world being in disarray and uproar. So many lives were lost, until both creatures decided to call a truce and live together peacefully.

Liam chuckled in amusement, he wasn't expecting her to pick offence. It should rather be a compliment since he kind of insinuated that she looked younger, she was such a spit fire.

"I meant no offence. I'm Liam by the way, Liam Wagner" he introduced himself, stretching his hand for a shake. He expected a look of familiarity from her expression at the mention of his name but was surprised at her blank stare. She didn't know him.

He was quite popular in that part of the world, after all, he was the Alpha of the biggest pack there. His pictures were on bill boards, he was always on television shows, and he owned most of the companies, clubs and parks anyone could find around the state. Which was why he was astonished to realize that she didn't recognize him. What part of the world does she live?

"I'm Olivia, Olivia Colman" Olivia mimicked, shaking his hands.

"Whatever the wolves might have done to you" Liam mentioned, diverting back to the fascinating topic. Instead of his ego being bruised at her lack of apprehension, he actually found it soothing. He could be free with her without being worried about seeing his name on every newspaper headline the next morning.

He watched how her face contorted in pain at his comment, that was quickly covered up with a forced smile. Now he was curious.

"Why are you so much in support of them anyways, are you one?" Her question caught him off guard, and despite his head constantly telling him to say the truth he found himself denying his identity.

"No I'm not. I just do not see any reason to hate them" he tried to reason with her, yet couldn't stop asking himself why he lied. He was proud of being a werewolf, probably because almost all human females he had ever met wished to be mated to a wolf, an Alpha at that.

She was an exception. And he couldn't even agree to being a werewolf when she had so much antipathy towards his kind.

"They are despicable and wicked. They are more powerful than humans, they are faster with a very sharp hearing and quick sighted eyes. Yet they engaged in an unfair war with us. Whatever made them come out of hiding" olivia snickered, anger evident in her voice. Her rage fresh like the war just occurred.

"Do you know how they must have felt hiding who they were for so long? Maybe they just felt choked up" Liam tried to make her see reasons why his kind wasn't so bad. But she remained adamant, her displeasure coming from a place of pain.

"Now I'm the one being choked up" he heard her mutter under her breath as she moved away from him towards her cabin.

She looked so sad and gloomy that he found himself wanting to console her. He wondered if it was because he was a werewolf, or he cared enough for a total stranger.

The breeze from the wave whizzed aloud, Liam inhaled it heavily. He became quiet and melancholic as the hours slowly passed on the observation deck.

Olivia stepped out of her cabin later that day to see Liam stepping out of his. What a coincidence that his accommodation was directly opposite hers.
