[CHAPTER 1] CAST AWAY

Harris' POV

Living in this world, where the strong only survives and the weak may die or being casted away. I am currently sitting under a big oak tree, resting as the sound of crickets and the sun motionlessly sink in the horizon.

"Your Highness, Prince Harris we better get going"

I awoke from my dreamy imagination when my loyal knight Cyrvian called me.

"This might be the last time you'll be calling me in that title Cyrvian" I said as I smiled slightly so that he will not worry.

"I really feel sorry about this your Highness, but how would your father the King of Esqrèma just cast you away like this?"

I can feel loathing in his tone. I understand that he said those things for my part because I should really feel that way.

"I have nothing to do if the king has lost his favor on me, it is better I leave the palace in peaceful terms". I said with a cheerful face trying to change the mood.

I've stayed in the palace for almost 2 years right after I woke up from an accident, as they said. My body is too weak for someone from the royal family. This is also one of the reasons why father chased me out.

"Come on let's continue our journey going to that academy" I stood up and tried to get rid of excess dust from my pants and robe.

We continued walking through the forest and reached the town. We visited and strolled the town along the way going to the academy. I noticed musicians playing publicly, it is a lively song that could make someone passing in front of them dance. Right after we went through the town we saw the entrance gate of the academy.

From afar it doesn't look like a school, instead it has a similarity to a fortress. This is such a place where it will be hard for me to adjust. I am very lucky to have Cyrvian with me.

"Why of all academies in the kingdom he bothered in sending you to this lowly school?!".Cyrvian complained hysterically.

I laughed in my thoughts thinking no matter how my father lost favor to me at least I have a loyal knight who is also like a brother to me. I actually don't mind if he is noisy or always complaining.

"Stop being a damsel in distress Cyrvian, let's get inside"

I took a step and arrived at the gate where there is a tall man where I'm only his armpit tall with crooked nose. He stared down at me with those judgemental eyes. It's as if he was belittling the person in front of him.

"Greetings sire, we are here in able to register for enrollment in the academy". I said as he stared at us with disgust. Looking bored with his job.

"Only 458 students are allowed to register in this year and only 2% of those students can graduate--alive". He then gave us a grin.

"Is this guy trying to scare a nineteen years old prince and a twenty-two years old knight?"

Cyrvian whispered to my ear enough that I am the only one who can hear it.

I can't believe my access in this school will be very independent. Even the guard doesn't know me, or even let the academy know that a royalty is here. This just means I wont be expecting to be treated as a noble.

"I have no issues with that, bring it on" I answered him with a smirk.

My answer to him seems confident, however my knees are about to give up right after hearing the chances of survival in this academy. The grumpy guy also replied with a smirk.

"If that's it then welcome to Esqrèma Knights & Mages Academy!".

We went inside and passed by the lobby. From afar the field can be seen with a forest behind it. A lot of squires are starting to train and doing warm ups.

"You must be new here, have you registered already?", a guy holding a shield asked.

"Ah yes, I'm with..." I looked behind to check on Cyrvian but he's not with me. This idiot was just behind me a while ago.

"Don't worry, registering here is pretty simple". He took out a small device that looked like a button.

"Here, place your hand and kindly state your name please". He instructed.

After the things we've gone through we finally had a proper place to stay. However, it is far different from the palace. It looks more like a cabin than a dorm for students.

"Your Highness I cannot believe they let you stay in this kind of crappy cabin that is full of rubbish! Curse on them!!"

And my knight's gone hysterical once more.

"If we know magic this will be the only peace of cake to fix this cabin". I said.

Well, actually Cyrvian is making a point here. The cabin really looked crappy. There are spider webs everywhere and the woods on the ceiling are likely to give up already.

"Would you want me to look for a mage to fix this cabin, your Highness?"Cyrvian suggested.

"No...we'll keep everything low-key. If we're alone you can call me my title but-- if we are with people just call me by my name, got it?" I explained it to him and understood everything.

Tomorrow will be the start of the classes. I am expecting everything will be new to me for since I was in the palace I received private tutors for being a swordsman. However, I was too lazy to practice it. This was also one of the reasons why my father lose favor with me.

"Goodnight Your Highness! Sleep tight!". Cyrvian said as he blew his candle on the bedside.

"Sleep well hysterical knight" I whispered to myself and smiled a little.

I lay in my bed and stared at the ceiling for a long time trying to register the things that happened in the journey we just had and how I ended up in this place. I snapped out of the idea, blew the candle from my bedside, and went to sleep. Tomorrow will be a long day.
