CHAPTER 2

THE ESCAPE

THE sun was peeking through the white curtain of the pure white hotel room and it woke Luxy up. Her head hurts really bad as well as her body. The cold sensation of the air conditioner mounted on that very room made her stretch up and glided her bare body on the soft sheet of the queen-sized bed. When she realized that all the pain she was feeling at that time was because of what happened last night, she immediately sat up and looked around. Trying to remember what exactly happened is giving her a migraine.

She heard a guy groan beside her. She looks at him and there she finds a guy sleeping. She could see his bare lean back that has a tattoo of a unique design of a symbol that some people know. That made her look at her body covered only by a white sheet. She was naked! There was no clothes, no long gown, no underwear. She is completely bare from head to foot.

"No! This can't be. This is not happening," she uttered in her mind.

She has to get away. That was what she thought that instant. Whatever happened last night was only because of her drunkenness and grief. Of course, her fiance just cheated on her.

Slowly, she hurriedly picked up his clothes scattered on the floor and put them on. Even though her body still hurts, especially the part between her legs, she still tried to get up. She wore her gown last night and the coat the waiter lent her last night. She did not even bother looking back at the guy she just slept with.

It was already morning and she would look ridiculous if she will go out the hotel wearing a sexy long night gown.

She headed out the room and just in time, she saw a room boy pushing a trolley. She asked for a pair of scissors. But the only sharp thing that is available was a small knife.

"This'll do." She did not even bother to feel ashamed that desperate time. She ripped her long gown in front of that staff, making it higher than her knees. "Thanks," she said as she returned the knife to the trolley and walked down to the building. Sheeven let her hair down to cover her face. She is well-known in San Andres and it will be a big issue if she will be recognized and will find out that she just came out of a hotel with that appearance. She can't ruin her image. She can't ruin her family's reputation.

The outside of the hotel looks quiet and normal by the time she got out. There's no sign of reporters or paparazzi. But when she thought she was safe from the scandals, it turned out that they were just hiding. Flashes of cameras are at every angle around her. The issue was not the issue of her leaving the hotel in that state but the pictures that were spread about his fiancé and a model. Everyone knows they're engaged and the photo of her fiance cheating went on the public in just one night.

This is why she wanted to marry a good guy. She hates scandals. But the person she thought was a good one was actually a fraud and hiding something bad.

Apart from the blinding flashes of the cameras, she was also aggressively pushed by the number of reporters asking her questions. She was about to fall when a body was wrapped around her shoulder and it shielded her from the reporters. The smell seems familiar.

"I'm sorry but I think you're violating human rights. Anything taken or captured here, video or photo, will not appear. Or else he will be forced to sue whoever is here, guilty or not. So, I suggest you to delete all of it.” It was a familiar voice of a man but she did not bother looking up to him. She is busy hiding her face.

A speeding car came, drifted, and braked near where they are. Everyone looked at it. A cute woman just came out of the car. It was none other than Melody Marquez, her famous singer friend. Reporters began to approach Melody. It had already grabbed their attention and she was thankful for it.

Luxy looked at Melody as she mouthed 'thank you' at the singer. She winked back at her. It's been years, but they are still friends and always got each other's backs.

It is not important how she found out what happened to her, but at least she came to help her to get out.

The man who hugged her immediately moved. He removed her coat and put it on top of her head, hiding her face completely. And with that, she can't even see the man who was helping her.

The man called for a taxi and let her in the fastest way possible. He tapped the window and the driver immediately accelerates.

Upon arriving home, her parents were already waiting for her to arrive. Her mother is sitting on the couch with a tea to calm her. HEr father was busy talking to someone on the phone, more like arguing.

"Just what the hell happened?" her mother asked her, scanning her from head to foot. "Just look at you."

Luxy's lips straightened up in a line as her feet steeped to close her legs in her stand.

Her mother massages her forehead as she took a sigh. "You need to fix this the soonest. Talk to whoever the guy you slept with and make him shut his mouth. We will talk with Nash's family tonight," she stated.

"What?" she asked as if it was not clear to her. "You still want me to continue the marriage with Nash, right?"

"You got it right, my dear. Fix yourself. We will have your wedding the soonest. We can't let this issue ruin our image. Remember that your father is the Governor here in San Andres," her mother reminded her again. "And you will not go out the vicinity of out house until that," she strictly stated.

With no more words on her lips, she went up to her room and cried with all her heart. She stopped when she saw Melody's name on her phone. Her friend was calling her.

"Hey, are you okay?" Melody asked her.

She shocked her head as if she could see her response. She sniffed and her friend confirmed she was crying.

"You are crying again, aren't you?" Melody took a sigh. "Listen. You have to get on your feet and listen to me. A ship will travel tonight to an island and you are going there. I will book your ticket. You need time for yourself."

She wiped her tears away and began to write a note on her table saying she is sorry and needed some time for a vacation. For the first time in her life, she is doing something for herself. She left her clothes and wallet so her parents can't track her down.

With the help of Melody, she made it to the pier where the ship was waiting for passengers.

She was wearing herself a ripped jeans topped with white off shoulder cropped long-sleeves. She can't find a sneakers and ended up wearing a pair of high heels. Aside from that, she was wearing a face mask and a cap to hide her face.

Melody waved her goodbyes as she boarded the ship.

Her breathing was heavy as the ship began moving away from the shore. This is the moment she have been waiting for. She is leaving for a while and she is leaving the problem along with it.

She was now on the ship and it is taking her away. The night on the ocean is peaceful. But the people on board were as loud as the music playing. The top deck was throwing a party.

She then roamed around when her limbs froze and her eyes widened. Is it really him? Her fiance was on the same ship she was on to. She can't be wrong. Nash was talking to another man and they were in their business suit, maybe talking about business matters.

Her heels started to step backward as these man started to walk towards the direction of where she is. She felt the railings behind her and found out that she had no where to go. She will be caught there.

Going inside the comfort room for men was her last resort. thankfully, when she roamed her around, no one was there, maybe. She simply bent down to see if there are feet on the cubicles.

"I think you are in the wrong place, miss," said a voice of a man familiar to her.

She can't be wrong for the second time. She looked up to see that it was really the waiter who flirted with her the other night at the restaurant. He was not a waiter that time. His hair were well groomed and was waxed to stay in a nice way. He was wearing a suit and tie and it matches his lean shoulders. He looks so decent like her fiance.

But then, she remember the cheating that her fiance did. It made her conclude that not all men who wears suits were decent.

She stood up and faced him, raising an eyebrow.

"Have we met before?" he asked as his eyebrows slightly met in the middle.

"Wow!" she scoffed. She rolled her eyes. "You were the waiter the other night."

"So?" He was staring at her like finding out who he was was nota big deal.

"You were the guy who told me that my fiance was a jerk."

"And? Did I turn out to be correct?" he asked.

She paused and changed her expression. "I guess," she mumbled.

He smirked.

She then looked at his suit.

"Your looks can melt me any second now," he started. There he is again flirting.

He smirked and her head started to flash things inside her head with what happened in that night. It was vogue and it was still not clear to her. But then, she wanted to confirm it for herself. "You were that guy, right? That guy who went on my table the other night."

His eyes moved back and forth on hers and it is making her heart thump loudly that the suspense is killing her.
