CHAPTER 3

RUNAWAY

LUXY'S heart had never pounded this hard before. This man was the waiter who went on her table that night and there is a big chance that it was also the man she slept with. This man could be that Aries. She tried to remember it and she can see the likeness of the two.

"You were the waiter, right?"

He nodded slowly, almost unsure if that was the right way to respond.

"You were a waiter," she said.

Once again, he nodded the same way as his answer to the first question.

She looked down the suit attire he was wearing. By the looks of it, the suit was definitely a branded one.

"And you look like someone who owns a business right now."

"A businessman?"

"Yeah," she said, nodding. "A businessman," she repeated, and looked into his charming eyes.

"I guess I was just promoted," he stated in an almost asking tone of voice.

"Really? That fast?” She was still in doubt. “What was your name again?" she asked, waiting for confirmation. Her heart beats like she was in a racing track. She is keeping her heavy breathing concealing the nervousness she has within.

He smirked. "Call me Bron," he introduces and lends out his hands for shaking.

Her eyes blinked a few times and looked at his hand. Did she heard it right? It was Bron and not Aries. Slowly, she took his hand and shake it.

"Just Bron?" she asked.

"Just Bron," he answered.

"No other name?" she asked again and it made his bushy brows meet in the middle.

A second after, she heard someone approaching. It was a man and he was talking on his phone. She can't be wrong with the voice of whoever was going to the men's comfort room.

She took a peek and confirmed for herself that it was her fiancé. Ex-fiance to be precise. Alertness came rushing within her. She moved back and pushed Bron along with her inside a cubicle. He slipped his feet, making him sit on the toilet. And without any further words, she sat on his lap, facing the closed door of the cubicle. She even lifted her feet just to make sure she cannot be found.

Bron was about to talk but she immediately cover his lift with her palm. Her lips were firmly closed as she shook her head to ask for his silence. Thankfully, Bron just raised his brows.

She could hear her fiance from outside. He has entered the comfort room on his phone.

"I am trying my best Governor. I have already hired a few men to search the ship and the other transportation who left San Andres this night," he said. "We will try to find her the soonest as we can."

She could hear him washing his hands before leaving. She was right. Her father already took action to look for her. And he even asked Nash's help.

She released a big sigh before dropping her feet on the tiled floor.

"Hey, sweetheart. You are making my life harder," Bron whispered in her ears and it made her stand up instantly.

Her lips parted and were about to say something when he smirked as he took a sigh. Her eyes moved down his body and saw a really huge bump in front of his legs.

"Eyes up here, sweetheart."

She looked at him and found her cheeks burning. With embarrassment, she went out of the cubicle. Bron followed.

"I am sorry. I was just desperate to hide. And I was afraid that you might say something," she said while she was on her back.

"So, that was the guy?"

She nodded. "Yeah. That was the jerk you told me."

"Oh. I see. You should go back to your cabin," Bron said as if nothing had happened.

"I can't. They will find me there."

"What's wrong? It's not like you will die if he finds you."

"You don't understand. If I go back, my life will be a living hell."

"I’ve heard that the Governor was asking that jerk to look for you.”

She nodded. “You didn’t know, don’t you? I’m the daughter.”

His bushy eyebrows lifted up. “And you plan on hiding all your life?"

She turned around and she raised her hands. "I don't know. Maybe." She let out a heavy frustrated sigh and looked at him. "Can I stay at your cabin?"

"What?"

"Just until this ship will dock at its destination."

"I'm sorry. But it's no," he said and he stepped away, about to leave her.

She immediately grabbed his hand and looked up to him with the cutest begging eyes she got. “Please.”

“I really can’t, daughter of the Governor.”

“It’s Luxy. L-U-X-Y.”

“Luxy, You’re the daughter of the Governor, do you know what will happen if I hide you?”

She shook her head slowly.

“Look, sweetheart. I can’t have any mess. And your father could hire an assassin to--”

“You think of it too?”

He stopped.

“You think that my father is involved with the mafia? I don’t believe in those people who secretly show off their power and wealth in the dark to make the world rotate. They’re just other jerks if they really exist.”

Bron was in silence for a minute, and she was there standing.

“So, you’re not helping me?”

“I’m a man and you’re a woman. Do you know what could happen? It’s not good to trust a stranger, sweetheart. Who knows I’m a psycho killer.”

She took a gulp. She is desperate. “Then, I want to bet my life of that stranger psycho killer, if ever. You will not hurt me for I am the Governor’s daughter.” She took the ring that Nash gave her. She showed it to Bron’s face. “This is a real diamond. It could cost a big amount. Consider it as a payment.”

She put the ring inside Bron’s chest pocket and tapped it slightly.

A smirk curved on his lips. He looks amused. “Oh, sweetheart. You don’t know what you’re going into.”
