Summoned by one of you

Ashair POV

The sky was dark and gloomy when we arrived at the Mayfair Tower. Thunder rumbled in the sky, indicating whether or not rain would fall, but I hoped it didn't.

When we reached, the gates to the tower were already open for us because the Lady of Mayfair Tower was expecting us as the cars drove into the compound.

"You've been shutting us out since we left our mate there," Athens said as we all came out of the car. "What the hell is wrong with you?"

"I will take the cars to the garage, your highness," one of the tower servants offered, and I nodded in response.

"His highnesses and I will enter Lady Mayfair's home; the rest of you remain close until I summon you," Devin told the ten guards who had escorted us to the tower.

"Yes, Your Highness," they all agreed and walked away.

"Are you going to keep ignoring me?" Athens yelled once more and grabbed my hand. He always does that to irritate me. He had been bugging me about our mate since we left the capital. I had to ignore him, pretending I didn’t hear him because he wouldn't stop talking about her.

"What exactly do you want me to say, Athens? Do you want me to return to the capital and bring the humans back here?"

"Ashair, that is not the point! You're always like this because you are the oldest, and you give the orders!"

"Brothers!" Alaric attempted to stop us from arguing, but I silenced him.

"Don't you dare get involved in this!" I warned him.

"This is the issue I have with you, Ashair! You are an egotistical jerk who only cares about himself, which I find pitiful! I know you are doing this to help us, but I'm allowed to give my mate a chance if you don't want her!"

This is always the issue I have with Athens, who has to complain about everything I do because he dislikes it. "She is a human who is oblivious to our world, so bringing her here is not a good idea, and she can’t even look at us because we could steal her soul!" Alaric explained to Athens, but he yelled at him.

"I knew you'd support him because you're afraid he'll kick you out of the royal mansion!"

"Enough!" I shouted at him, getting fed up with how he was acting. "We're not supposed to be like this if you didn't put us all here by going after soul stealers when I told you not to! Everything is happening as a result of you!" I accused Athens of telling him about his actions because he wouldn't stop blaming me. He was ungrateful for someone who had saved his life multiple times.

"Oh, Lord Ashair," Athens said, dramatically bowing. "I had no idea that I would always have to bow to you!"

"Have you ever considered how I feel each time the full moon is near?" I yelled at him. "Every day, I go insane, and you only think about yourself!"

"Just as you consider yourself, Ashair," Athens replied. "You may not like our mate, but I do, and if given a chance, I would go back and meet her again!"

"Your highness," Devin called out just as I was about to respond to Athens. "You appear to be conversing with your brothers, so I didn't want to bother you."

"If you were not deaf, I am sure you heard our conversation," Athens replied.

I heaved a deep sigh and looked at Devin, then at the entrance to Lady Mayfair's home. "She wants you now," Devin announced.

"Let's go inside!" I told him and walked into the lady's home, Devin trailing behind me.

"I'm sure you'll ignore me once more!" Athens yelled as he walked behind us, side by side with Alaric.

Athens has always been this way. He reacted to things all the time without considering the consequences of his actions. I wouldn't be in this situation where he has to be in my body if it weren't for his carefree attitude.

"Your highness, the lady will see you now," A woman who seemed to be in her mid-twenties and wearing a white gown walked towards us and pointed down a long corridor. "I will lead you to her," she said as she bowed and began leading us to Lady Mayfair.

When we got to the end of the long corridor, a wooden door opened. The girl stood by the door, pointing inside. "I hope you find what you are looking for, your highnesses," she said as she walked away.

Devin and I exchanged glances before entering the room. It was pitch black at first, but as we walked deeper into the room, the light came on.

Lady Mayfair sat on the floor in the center of the room, her back to us, surrounded by candles. There were candles of various colors, including red, green, and blue. When she inhales, the candle goes out, and when she exhales, it turns on.

"This place looks crazy!" Alaric commented.

A round table with five chairs was to Lady Mafair’s right, and on top of the table were various types of food.

I looked around the room and noticed a painting of a woman, but it wasn't until I got closer that I realized it was the human who was our mate. She was wearing a radiant smile in the painting, just like I had seen her earlier amongst the crowd.

"Isn't this our mate?" Alaric asked.

I didn't respond to his question. Instead, I stretched out my hand to touch our mate's painting.

"It's her," Athens exclaimed as he ran his hand through it.

My thoughts immediately turned to how and what she was doing there. How did she get to Lady Mayfair's house? I needed to know, so I returned my attention to Lady Mayfair, who was no longer on the ground but was now seated on one of the chairs.

"Your highnesses!" Lady Mayfair welcomed us. They claimed she never aged, as she appeared to be in her thirties despite being thousands of years old.

I had noticed a change in her hair color because when she was seated on the ground a few seconds ago, her hair was dark, but now it had turned white, making me wonder if she had gone in to change her hair or if she had performed a magic spell to change her appearance.

"I see you've seen your mate's painting," Lady Mayfair said as I returned my gaze to the painting.

"How did you find out about her, Lady Mayfair?" Athens asked her.

"Please call me Jollie," she laughed. "I saw her years ago in a vision, and when one of you summoned her, she appeared here."

"Wait," I said as I approached the table. "What do you mean by one of us summoning her?"I curiously asked.

"Please take a seat, all of you, because I know you are tired, and all of these," she said, pointing to the foods on the table. "They must not be thrown away," she said.

Alaric and Athens sat on two chairs while I remained standing.

"I need to know, Lady Mayfair," she frowned when I addressed her by the tower's name. "Jollie," I corrected myself. "I didn't come here to eat because I want to learn everything I can about her."

"I know," she said, motioning to Devin. "You all are tired, and I know the journey here should have taken more than a day, but you arrived in a day, indicating that you are curious about the girl who has entered your life."

Devin exchanged glances before taking a seat on one of the chairs after I nodded. We sat down together, and I wasted no time questioning the lady about the human who had appeared in our world.

"Who did you say summoned her here?" I asked, anticipating the answer about who had brought the girl into our world.

"One of you with the name Athens," she answered, and I looked towards Athens, exchanging looks with him.
