Nathan’s P.O.V.
Years of yearning to listen to that voice made me spin on my heels even before I could register what had just happened. I forgot to breathe when I saw a beautiful woman in a black off-shoulder evening gown coming towards us with an old man. Her striking facial features made her stunning and beautiful, but the strangeness of her face made me feel a pang of pain in my chest. I blinked, trying to find any trace of familiarity in her face, but there was none, except her eyes. I couldn’t forget those eyes. They were hers, but her face was different. Why? How? Those eyes were the same as my Cynthia’s, but the confidence oozing out of her gaze was completely opposite of the shyness in my wife’s eyes. “Ms. Williams, Mr. Silva.” Chris greeted them formally, but I couldn’t utter a single word. I was still dumbstruck, staring at the woman now standing right in front of me. She was an epitome of confidence, I can say. “It seems that Mr. Lombart is also charmed by Cynthia’s beauty, huh?” I heard a playful remark, but my mind didn’t register a word. “Mr. Lombart.” Chris jabbed my arm while calling me in whispers. I blinked and looked at him in a daze. “Mr. Lombart. Mr. Silva is here.” He whispered to me while smiling awkwardly. It was when I realized my surroundings. “I… I am sorry, Mr. Silva.” I apologized, Mr. Silva in a low voice and cleared my throat. Get a grip on yourself, Nathan. You have plenty of time to know about this woman. I comforted myself in my heart before pulling my professional demeanor. “Allow me to reintroduce myself in a proper way.” I asked Mr. Silva with a faint smile on my lips. The old man smiled widely, but I could see that he was also a cunning, shrewd businessman who knew his cards very well. “Nathan Lombart, the CEO of Heaven’s Blessing.” I introduced myself to him again, raising my hand towards him for a handshake. “Nice to meet you, Nathan. This is my assistant and also the negotiator of this acquisition, Cynthia Williams,” he replied to me and introduced the woman standing right next to him. My breath hitched, but I didn’t let my composure falter this time. We shook hands, and I looked at Cynthia Williams. She still had that faint, confident smile on her lips, making her more beautiful than she already is. Well, not more beautiful than my Cynthia, though. “Ms. William, I apologize for my previous reaction. I guess I am still not immune to a beauty like you.” I raised my hand towards her while praising her with a faint smile. She chuckled and grabbed my hand in a formal handshake. My whole body shuddered hard. I could never forget this touch. I had yearned so much for this touch all these years, and now, when I had it, I couldn’t embrace her because she appeared like a stranger in front of me. Why does she have a different face? Did she change her face to stay hidden from me? Did she hate me this much, or did something else happen? I couldn’t form any explanation of why she is treating me like a stranger and why she has a different face. I slowly let go of her hand, but I was now determined not to let her disappear from my world again. Her eyes, her touch…. She is definitely my Cynthia. “Let’s go to the room assigned to us?” Chris broke the silence stretched between us. “Please, Mr. Silva.” I gestured to him to walk first, showing my respect to my elder. He nodded with the same smile and walked ahead. I followed him and both Chris and Cynthia walked behind us. “Where is your father? Last I talked to him, he said that he is in Bali.” Mr. Silva asked me, initiating a conversation between us. “He is now in Indonesia.” I replied to him truthfully. He laughed this time. “Although I have known your father for more than 10 years, I still can’t figure him out. He always has something to surprise me, like his choice of destination for a vacation?” Mr. Silva joked, but it was like a jab to my heart. My father wasn’t like this before. Although he married my mother in a business marriage arrangement, he was still a devoted husband and a caring father. Everything changed after my mother did something to his mistress, Lucas’s mother, Helena Ranger. “He always has an obsession with South Asian countries, and now, he has time to fulfill his wishes.” I still commented lightly, and Mr. Silva laughed while shaking his head in agreement. “You can say that I am inspired by your father, and that’s why I am looking for an eligible person to take over my company so that I can also fulfill my desires and wishes before leaving this world.” He commented lightly, but I could say that he was sincere in his words. Mr. Silva had no heir, as his wife died during their first childbirth, and then he never married again, a living example of loyalty and dedication to his life partner. I should be like him, but I made one grave mistake and lost the woman whom I loved. Unconsciously, I glanced towards Cynthia, who still had that faint smile while listening to Mr. Silva. Chris led the way when we were about to reach the room and opened the door for us. Mr. Silva and Cynthia entered the room together. “I want everything on Ms. Williams by tomorrow morning.” I whispered to him hurriedly before entering the room. I didn’t stop to see Chris’s reaction because I don’t care about that. I wanted answers before approaching Cynthia and claiming her as my wife. I sat down on a chair across from Mr. Silva and opened the front button of my blazer. “You know, Nathan, why did I refuse your half-brother’s offer and accept meeting you?” Mr. Silva asked me in a light tone, but I stiffened. I still succeeded in masking my emotions and looked at him calmly. "This is because in a way you are a bit like me," he added, making me stare at him blankly. He made himself comfortable on the chair and looked at me with a light smile on his lips. "When I said that I know your father, I meant everything about him, Nathan, and this also goes for you. We are businessmen, and you are smart enough to know what I want to say," he added, and my jaw clenched.Nathan’s P.O.V.“Son of b*tch can’t stay away from creating trouble for you, Nathan. I mean, you only hired her, and now he is all the way to her hometown,” Theo grumbled while moving in his chair restlessly.“Should I feel threatened?” I asked him teasingly and he glared at me.I just shrugged my shoulders and continued reviewing the proposal for the next project. My people that I had hired to keep eyes on Lucas informed me last night that Lucas took the same plane to Texas that Cynthia took to go home.“If you really think that she is your Cynthia, you should be worried. Don’t forget that Cynthia and Lucas had a history together,” Theo warned me, and my jaw clenched.“Of course, I remember, Theo, but he didn’t succeed in winning her heart at that time. Do you think that he will succeed this time?” I asked him calmly, but there was no smile on my face.“Don’t forget that he is a human too, Nathan, and we humans learn from our mistakes if we really want to win in the future, and Lucas
Cynthia’s P.O.V. (Continued)Only God and I knew how patiently I walked in front of him when his eyes bored holes at the back of my skull all the time.I didn’t know what his problem was, but Lucas Lombart’s aura screamed danger. I am intelligent enough to understand this and smart enough to stay away from him if the time and place allow me.I had never been this impatient in my whole life. Well, not my whole life, as I didn’t have any memories of what my life was before that car accident, but in the past seven years, I could say that. After entering the plane, one hostess guided me towards the business class. For the first time, I regretted being in that part of the plane. Of course, my trip was funded by the company and Mr. Silva approved all my expenses. But with Lucas Lombart in a close space, I couldn’t rest at ease. She guided me to my seat and I mumbled a thank you to her absen
Nancy’s P.O.V. (Continued)I stopped breathing for a moment, and her beautiful and arrogant face appeared in front of my eyes. She wasn’t anywhere near Cynthia Harper, Nathan’s wife. Completely different face and personality.Yeah, she only had similar eyes to Cynthia Harper, but she wasn’t the only woman with green eyes. How could Nathan be so naïve?“I heard that you had a dispute with that woman, and Nathan refused to help you. Instead, he helped her and filed a legal complaint against you.” Lucas added with that same sly smirk on his lips. I wanted to scream at him for being so arrogant and cocky, but I held my tongue.I couldn't deny that the whole situation hurt a lot, and I still had to deal with the case. The situation was completely against me with this woman in the picture.“What do you want me to do?” I asked him coldly instead of showing any other reaction.“Simple. Don’t let them come near to each other, force Nathan to accept you, and I will take care of the rest.” He st
Nathan’s P.O.V. (Continued)“That was…….. brutal.” Theo remarked while clicking his tongue.“Not as cruel as her. She ruined an innocent life to the extent where.” I couldn’t complete the sentence as I felt a sharp pain in my chest.Theo patted my shoulder lightly and walked away.I straightened my back and put my hands on the edge of the table after putting the stick aside.I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. “I am sorry.” I mumbled in my heart to my wife. When Nancy left the country, she sent me a text saying that she is not strong enough to stay by my side, and that’s why she was leaving the country so that she could earn name and fame in any other country. She said that she would come back one day when she would earn enough power on her own. I was heartbroken but moved by her determination to prove herself with her own efforts. I wanted to find her, but she asked in her text not to do so, or it would prove my mother’s point for her that she is nothing but a leech.I understoo
Nathan’s P.O.V.“Why are you doing this, Nathan?” Theo asked me, still angry and confused.“Because Lucas contacted her this evening.” I told him calmly. This was enough to make him shut up for now.We heard footsteps, including a sharp clink of heels against the floor, but I didn’t look in their direction.I and Theo continued playing the same way.“Nathan.” Nancy called me softly, stopping right behind me.“What do you have to say to me?” I asked her calmly, positioning the stick on the table to hit the ball.“Can I speak to you in private?” she asked me softly. There was a time when this tone of hers sent ripples in my heart, but now I felt nothing but disgust.“Theo is my brother and he knows everything about me. You can speak freely in front of him,” I replied calmly, hit the ball, and waited for the balls to settle dow
Emma’s P.O.V. (Continued)I put the phone on the top of the desk and looked in front of me while reminiscing about my life before my marriage.I was pampered but not to the extent where I could be called a spoiled heiress. I was groomed to lead and I was glad that my parents and their friends never let me go astray. Those were the happiest days of my life, but now…I took a deep breath and the smile on my lips slowly vanished.Nicholas’s betrayal gave me the worst lesson of my life. Our marriage wasn’t a marriage alliance because it was me who asked my parents to propose this marriage.Because it was love at first sight. When Nicholas accepted the marriage proposal, I was over the moon. I thought that finally I had found contentment, but he proved me wrong within two years of our marriage after Nathan was born.He had someone else in his heart, but she wasn’t from an influential family. She gave birth to a son too, who was only a few months older than Nathan.Lucas Lombart.Nicholas g
