Alex’s POV

“Let go of me!” I snarled, twisting and fighting against the iron grips holding my arms. My shoulders burned, my jaw throbbed where the guard had hit me, blood still crusted under my nose—but I didn’t care. I would fight them until my last breath if that was what it took.

They shoved me forward hard, and I stumbled, barely catching myself before I fell flat onto the ice. The cold bit straight through my thin uniform, sharp and biting, as they released me and stood back at the door

  • Accidentally Yours, Hockey Captain   Chapter 165: Midnight Approaches

Alex’s POVI was sitting on the edge of my narrow cot, staring at the floor, when I heard the voices outside my door. Two guards, low and careless, talking like walls had no ears.“Forty-eight hours,” one said. “Wedding and final deal at the same time. Everything transfers that night.”“Nice and clean,” the other replied. “Gone before sunrise. Good work if you can get it.”My blood turned to ice. Forty-eight hours. Two days. That was all we had. Will wasn't wasting any more time. He was speeding everything up. The wedding, the money, the disappearance—all of it happening before we even had a chance to breathe. Before we had a chance to fight back.I paced the small room, my mind racing. Move up the timeline. Lock everything down. Vanish. He was tying up loose ends. And we were the biggest loose ends of all.Hours later, when the shift changed and the hall went quiet, something slid under my door. A folded scrap of paper. I snatched it up, heart hammering, and read it by the dim light:

  • Accidentally Yours, Hockey Captain   Chapter 164: The Crack in the Armor

Emily’s POV I stood by the door for what felt like an hour, my hand resting on the lock, listening to his footsteps fade down the hall. My throat throbbed where the bandage pressed against it, a dull, constant reminder of how far I’d come—and how much further I still had to go. I touched the three tiny stars I’d painted into the corner of Alex’s portrait one last time, whispering a silent prayer that he’d seen them, that he understood, that he was safe. Then I turned away and walked straight to the phone on the small table beside the bed. I dialed the front desk. The man who answered didn’t want to help. He told me Julian was busy. That no visitors were allowed. That I should go back to sleep and stop causing trouble. “Tell him it’s me,” I said, my voice steady and cold. “Tell him I need to see him. Alone. And if he doesn’t come in the next ten minutes, I’m going to scream loud enough for the whole neighborhood to hear exactly what kind of business his friends are running here.”

  • Accidentally Yours, Hockey Captain   Chapter 163: The Ice Never Lies

Alex’s POV The moment the heavy steel door slammed shut and the lock clicked into place, the world narrowed down to just me and the ice beneath my skates. The cold bit straight through my thin uniform, sinking deep into my bones until my teeth started chattering, but I barely noticed. My jaw throbbed where the guard had punched me, blood crusted tight under my nose, my shoulders burning from how hard they’d twisted my arms—but none of that mattered. The only thing that mattered was that she was alive. She was safe. For now. “Lap twenty!” the coach’s voice boomed over the loudspeaker, sharp and cruel. “And pick up the pace! You think this is a vacation? Move!” I gritted my teeth and pushed off again, digging my blades into the ice until they bit hard. Around and around I went, one foot in front of the other, my breath coming in ragged white clouds that vanished almost as fast as they appeared. This isn’t just exercise, I told myself, counting each stride. This isn’t just punishment

  • Accidentally Yours, Hockey Captain   Chapter 162: Silent Wars

Emily’s POV The moment the glass fell from my hand, the fight drained right out of Will—not because he was beaten, but because he was terrified of losing what he wanted. He stared at the blood on my throat, his face pale, his chest rising and falling fast, and for the first time since I met him, he looked like a man who didn’t know what to do next. “You stupid, stupid girl,” he muttered, his voice tight and trembling as he stepped closer. “What have you done?” “Don’t come near me,” I warned, though my voice shook now that the adrenaline was fading. My hand went to my neck, and my fingers came away wet and red. It stung, sharp and burning, but it wasn’t deep. Not deep enough. Will ignored me. He grabbed my wrist gently but firmly and pulled me toward the small sofa in the corner, pushing me down. “Sit. And don’t move.” “I’d rather stand,” I snapped, trying to pull away. “Sit, Emily!” he shouted, and the anger was back, hot and sharp, but he didn’t hurt me. He just went to the ba

The cold bit straight through my thin uniform, sharp and biting, as they released me and stood back at the door, watching like wolves waiting for the kill. “Try to calm down, Alex,” Julian said from the doorway, his voice smooth and reasonable, as if he were talking to a child having a tantrum. “You are only hurting yourself this way. You won’t gain anything by losing your temper.” I spun around on him, my eyes burning with pure rage. “All this time… I actually thought I knew you. I thought you were Will’s friend, sure, but I never imagined you would be part of something this sick. I never imagined you

  • Accidentally Yours, Hockey Captain   Chapter 160: The Edge of Everything

Emily’s POV Julian grabbed Alex by the arm and shoved him hard toward the door. Alex fought back instantly, swinging his fist with all his might, refusing to go quietly—but he was completely outnumbered. Two of Will’s massive guards stepped in and seized him, one gripping each arm so tight his knuckles turned white, dragging him backward even as he kicked and twisted and strained against them, shouting every curse word he knew. I watched in frozen horror as one of them drew back his huge fist and punched Alex—square in the face, hard and cruel and deliberate—right there, only a few feet away from me, where I could see every drop of blood. “ALEX!!” I screamed at the very top of my lungs, my voice cracking with terror, and I lunged forward, ready to throw myself between them, to scratch and bite and claw their eyes out, to burn this whole place down if that was what it took to make them stop. “LET HIM GO!! DON’T YOU DARE HIT HIM AGAIN!! ALEX!! LOOK AT ME!! I’M HERE!! I LOVE YOU!!” B
