"Papa, you have it all wro-wrong. Ple-please, let me explain." Ivy choked on her tears as she fell to her knees to beg her father.
Her eyes were still fixed on the picture on the phone in her hands. Her hands trembled as she soaked it in once more unable to believe her eyes.
It was a picture of her taken at the club the night before as she walked to Alexander 's car with his hand around her waist.
"You may want to check the next picture, you uncultured swine!" Her father growled angrily.
She swiped unto the next, wiping away her tears with her left hand, Ivy let out a soft gasp. There was another picture of her and Alexander walking into the hotel with his suit jacket draped over her shoulders and her head lovingly leaning on his shoulder.
"And the next." Her father scowled at her.
Ivy gulped loudly. She fidgeted, taking in the last picture. It was a clear picture of the hotel she and Alexander had lodged in the night before.
Hot tears rolled down her face, blurring her vision as her father hurled accusations at her. How did her father get the picture? He would never have known about last night unless someone who knew had snitched on her. But who?
Immediately she announced her presence, he didn't even return her greetings before pouncing on with different questions as he reached for his phone as evidence to support him.
"Tell how this is a lie! Prove to me that you aren't the one I can see in that picture!" Her father raged, shaking her by the shoulder violently.
"I…"
"Shut up! The more you speak, the more you repulse me. I should have listened to Medusa all these years. You are a disgrace!" He spat out hurtful words, digging his fingers into her arms as he spoke.
Ivy winced in pain however she was too hurt to speak. From a corner of her eyes, she could see a smirk graze Brandon 's face.
She blinked the tears away and turned to reconfirm if she had actually seen the smirk.
He leaned on the wall by a corner in the living area acting as if he wasn't concerned.
The realisation of his words hit her as she raised her head to meet his gaze.
Come in, big sister. I guess you will find out yourself.
She didn't need anyone to tell her that Brandon had instigated all these. He had double-crossed her by getting something which implicating thereby rendering whatever she had to say to her father about what she saw between Jack and him useless.
Why did she have to pay for his betrayal?
Anger stirred in her and she flicked her gaze back to her father's to pour her mind.
Alexander couldn't wait to get back into the room after the business call. He had called her to assign some duties to her because he had no plans of going to the office today when something else had caught his interest.
Vivid images of the night before filled his head and a smile twitched on his handsome chiseled face as he entered the suite.
"Ivy." Her name rolled off his lips perfectly as he headed for the bedroom through the spacious living area.
Soon they would have breakfast since he had ordered it before coming back into the room.
"Ivy." A frown appeared on his face and he stopped in his tracks when she didn't reply. Again.
He pushed the door back and scanned the room in surprise. The bed was empty. Where was she? He traipsed towards the far end of the room where the bathroom was.
Pushing the door back, he discovered that she wasn't there too. Letting go of the doorknob, panic roiled in him. Did she leave already? Why?
He turned his neck around and squinted his eyes to see her small silver earrings on the bedside table. It dawned on him that she was gone.
However, he couldn't let her go just like that. Alexander had to look for her. He had the best night with her and he was even contemplating canceling his schedule to stay in with her today.
His phone chirped with a familiar sound, interrupting his trail of thoughts. He shoved his hands into his pocket to retrieve his phone as he headed out of the room.
"Alexander, where are you?" His sister's voice trembled with panic.
"What is it?" Alexander wondered, still darting his eyes around the room.
"You need to come back to Miami immediately. Mother just had another heart attack." His sister broke down into tears.
"What?" Alexander exclaimed.
"It's critical. Please, Alexander. Ple-please."
"I will be in Miami in a few hours." Alexander hung up.
Piper was running out of her mind. It was almost ten am and since Ivy had walked out of the bar with the sexy stranger she hadn't seen nor heard from her except the last message she received from her stating the hotel they lodged in for security purposes.
She paced the mini apartment she lived in downtown trying to get across to Ivy while wondering why she wasn't home yet and if she was safe. Piper would have no choice but to go to the hotel if she got the same results this tenth time.
Letting out a groan, she decided to try it one last time before giving up since it wasn't usual for Ivy's phone to be unreachable.
Luckily this time, it went through.
"I-" She paused and her brows knitted in confusion when she heard familiar choking sobs.
"Papa, that's not a lie. Jack was cheating on me with Brandon . I have proof. Ple-please, listen to this. Just this once." Ivy clasped her hands in a pleading form as her body wracked with fresh tears.
"Enough! I have put up with your waywardness for too long. You can choose to live your life as you wish now. I don't care anymore!" Her father pulled her up with force.
"Get out of my house! From this moment onward, you cease to be my daughter, harlot." Her father said, pushing her towards the door.
Ivy gasped in shock. Where would she go?
She had gone straight to Piper's house because she couldn't even think of where else to go. Ivy had been so shocked when her father had told her that he was going to disown her.Her father! He had changed completely since the death of her mother. She felt he had only adored her mother, not her. He had only gotten worse since he married Medusa and her son Brandon did nothing to make things easier for her. He always ignored her and made her feel like she was nothing. She sighed as she rang the doorbell of Piper's house.Still, it was hard to believe. Her father had not only sent her out of the house, but also disowned her. When had it come to that extent and Brandon was so happy to pack all her things up, he hadn't even given her a chance to explain herself.Just like that. It showed he never loved her, she was so easy to throw away. So easy to forget.Ivy felt hurt beyond measure, she couldn't explain the tear in her heart that threatened to rip her apart. She sniffed and pressed the
All through the drive back home, Piper tried to find words to comfort Ivy. Ivy had just stood up from the chair and left the doctor's office without a word, absorbed in her thoughts and overwhelmed with shock.Piper had thanked the doctor and ran after Ivy, she had tried to make Ivy feel better by telling her she could still let Alexander Grayson know about it and he could help with the upbringing of the child. She attempted to let her know that a child wasn't the end of the world and that since the father was a known and reputable man, she didn't have anything to worry about. But, Ivy wasn't even listening, she was in another world completely and Piper knew any other thing she had to say would have to wait since Ivy was still endeavoring to cope with the shock. They had gotten in the car and there was silence. Piper's brain came up with countless words to say that could possibly comfort Ivy but found none. They got home, but the silence still hung over the both of them like a blanket
“ Why? What happened?” Piper asked, trying to look at Ivy and at the same time focus on the road.“I just saw someone!” Ivy said, still straining her neck, so her eyes could follow the black car.“Who? I can't just turn. I'm not at the U-turn yet.” Piper said and Ivy sighed.“We're going to lose him.” Ivy said, settling back in her seat.“Don't worry. I got you. We're already at the U-turn. You know what the car looks like?” Piper asked as she made a U-turn.“Yeah I do.” Ivy said.“Who did you see?” Piper asked after the U-turn.“Alexander Grayson.” Ivy replied and Piper looked at her.“Mr Grayson?” Piper asked. “I thought you said they told you he was out of town.” She added confused.“Yeah that was what they told me, but I'm pretty sure he's the one in that car. Maybe he came back, or the receptionist received orders to say he traveled.” Ivy said as Piper raced across the road. “I think he's stopping to fuel his car. We have a chance.” Piper said, zoomed the car even faster.“So I
Ivy picked up the shoe and looked at it in fear. “Liam! Liam!!” She screamed and ran out of the house, looking all around for signs of anyone carrying a baby. She ran down the street still in her apron with searching eyes and peeled out ears. Likewise, she so badly wanted to hear a baby's cry. After seeing there was no one around with a baby. She ran back home. She convinced herself she didn't check the house well. He was somewhere there.Although, one part of her brain nagged at her.Liam couldn't walk. He couldn't crawl. He couldn't suddenly sprout wings and fly out of the cot. Someone had taken him. Who?She took in deep breaths. The first person to call was Piper. Piper would know what to do.She walked in the house, picked up Liam's single shoe and closed the door. Then she immediately ran to the room to get her phone and dialed Piper's number.“Piper.” She called.“Yes? What's wrong with Ivy? Are you okay?” Piper asked.“Yes. yes, , I'm fine. Please just come home right now.” I
Ivy screamed, but it seemed like people were not around there at that moment. She was lucky that she was able to run as fast as that even while in fear. As she looked back again to check how close the man was, she fell and the man caught up with her.“Please don’t hurt me. Please don’t.” She pleaded, hoping that he would decide to release her.But of course, he wouldn’t. It was a rare case for anyone who had it in mind to do what he wanted to do, to change his mind, so her plea, fell on deaf ears. Instead, the man knocked her out and dragged her away.~Piper on the other hand, was waiting for her as they had already agreed that Ivy would get the canned drinks.“Liam, your mom is being so sluggish, out there. Could it be she decided to chill out and then take an extra canned bottle to herself?” Piper said to Liam and Liam only watched Piper like he was amazed, then he laughed.Piper always liked it when Liam laughed as his laughter was angelic, and she knew that when he grew up, he wa
Ivy was shocked that Piper would actually do that.“You’re joking, right?” I chuckled awkwardly.“Of course. I am.” She laughed, hysterically.“Oh, come on. You almost got me.”“Wait. Do you think I would actually do that? You aren’t supposed to believe it, for a sec.” “Well, I trust you. But wait, until you become a mother.” I chuckled.“I see. You mothers tend to be easily frightened.” She said as she rolled her eyes.I went to check on my sweet baby. I had really missed him and he was on my mind, every second, when I was abducted. It felt so good to finally re-unite with him.“Well, I will leave mother and son to have their wonderful re union.”“Oh, look who is jealous, Liam.” Ivy giggled, referring to Piper who was about leaving.“Both mother and son, looks like you are ready to face my wrath.” Piper said as she pressed her knuckles, like she was about to war with them.Piper jumped on them, but made sure that she didn’t jump carelessly on little Liam. They had fun, until it was
Ivy and Alexander, were both shocked to see each other after months of separation. Then Bethany walked in, with a smile on her face.“Ivy, you are here.” She walked closer to her and held her hands.“I hope you didn’t have a hard time, locating this place?” She asked, with a slight smile.“No, I didn’t. It was quite easier than I thought.” She said, still trying to get over the fact that Alexander was standing, right in front of her.“I see. Oh, where are my manners? Baby, this is Ivy, who I told you about and Ivy? This is my fiancé.” Bethany introduced them to each other as she felt excited.~They were eating at the dining and their cutleries were making clanking sounds. Bethany decided to break the silence, since it felt too awkward.“So, Ivy will be working with me as an assistant chef. She is really good at what she does. You really need to taste how lovely her food is.” Bethany chuckled as she savored the taste of the food she was eating.“Wow. That’s…that’s nice.” Alexander man
Ivy sat in the passenger seat of Bethany's car, and in about thirty minutes, they had gotten to the city. Ivy could not help, marveling at the scenic route they were taking in the new city. The trees were a rich shade of green, and the roads were lined with stunning mansions and sprawling parks. It was a stark contrast from her old neighborhood, with its dilapidated buildings and litter-lined streets. As Bethany pulled into the parking lot of a towering hotel, Ivy gasped in awe. The building was massive, with sleek glass windows and a glittering façade that shimmered in the sunlight. She had never seen such a grand structure before, and she couldn't believe that they were going to be staying there. As they entered the hotel lobby, Ivy was struck by the sheer opulence of the place. The air was filled with the scent of fresh flowers, and the walls were bedecked with ornate paintings. The furniture was plush and luxurious, and the floors were polished to a high shine. Ivy felt out of pla
