SECOND CHANCE

Fire!!!!!!!!, it felt like her skin was burning and peeling off, it kept on getting hotter!!, hotter!!!, till when she felt she couldn't take it anymore, then it just....... stopped.

And her eyes snapped open , she looked around trying to register where she was when the nightmare she had flashed through her mind, " A sobbing woman holding a baby in a burning house, and her face looked like......" arghhhh she let out a sharp cry as she held onto her head as it felt like it was about to burst.

"What the fuck was that" she whispered while looking around and then she confirmed that she was in a packs infirmary, she closed her eyes and heaved a sigh of relief. She didn't know which pack she was in , all she knew was that they didn't mean harm as they let her heal.

She sat up and stared around the ward, it was pale blue in colour just like her eyes and the remaining spaces that were not blue were white. As she started to pull at the needles connected to her, she remembered something

" Ana, Ariana, Oh God let it not be....."

" Oh, shut it, you're being ridiculously noisy"

" That's quite a nice way to say I'm good and not dead, I guess?" she said feigning anger.

" When you're done with your drama, you let me know" She rolled her eyes in Penelope's mind

" That's all I get for all my worry" she said unceremoniously

" So which pack are we in" Penelope asked as she drew a needle out of her wrist and took a sharp breathe as the pain hit her.

" Dummy, we're still in our pack, can't you smell mate's scent all over you.

And that was true, she could smell his scent but blamed it on her hyperactive hormones.

" So he saved us" She asked hoarsely as she searched for water to wet her parched throat and then the door screeched open and she flinched.

" Who's this hot mannerless doctor that can't knock on the freaking door" She thought with a small frown.

" Well, well , what can I say, I expected much but I must still compliment you, she-wolf, you heal so fast" he smiled slyly showing his perfect dentition.

" I'm John, the doctor in charge of you" he said while stretching his hand forward for a hand shake and when he realized that her hands were in syringes and what not, he withdrew his hand apologetically.

" So what's your name" he asked curiously as he went to inspect her wounds.

" I'm fine, no need to check on my wounds and my name is Penelope" She answered while drifting away from him.

"Penelope, the name sounds foreign and if you insist I'll let you be" He shifted back while peering at her face like he's trying to remember her face.

" Is there anywhere else that hurts" he asked her with a calm voice laced with concern.

" No, please remove all this stuffs from me" She whispered.

" As you wish princess" he muttered and removed the syringes.

" You are going to stay here for two days so the injury in your legs will heal........" he choked on his words as he saw her climb down from the bed.

" I'm perfectly ok, doctor, the wound has healed , so please can I take my leave?" She asked

" Why is she in so much haste to leave, she really wants to be a rogue so bad" he thought with a visible frown.

" You can leave but not after I check you myself, the Alpha won't be glad I let you out without proper checkup" he said as he made her to sit down so he could check her legs and the wounds were covered but still fresh.

" This still looks bad" he murmured to himself.

" The Alpha?, did he stay here last night?" She asked hopefully.

But, on him seeing that she doesn't know , he might as well keep shut.

" I don't know dumpling, let me get you an ointment so the wounds won't leave a scar, what do you say?" he peered into her face for an answer, but she only nodded her head and he left and came back after two minutes and found her still seating in the same position staring into space.

" Here, follow the instructions on the bottle label"

" I don't have to pay for this right?" panic flashed through her eyes

" No, you don't and even the hospital bills, they're covered so no need to worry" he added to ease her.

" Who paid for my bills" She was rather confused than relieved.

" The hospital doesn't collect money for rogue victims, so it's either you stay for two days for constant checkup or leave if you want " He walked towards the door.

" I'm staying" She said almost in a whisper.

" What?" John turned back when he heard her speak.

" Please let me stay here for two days before I leave" She said with pleading eyes.

" I just said that princess" He have her a dry look.

" Ohhh, ok" She blushed in embarrassment.

She can't afford to go back to the servants quarters, not now when she talked back to Sophia, not now when doesn't know of her stance in her pack, no , she'll rather stay here for these two days and recuperate fully. With that thought, she got down the bed and limped slowly towards the bathroom, all the super woman show earlier was for John to believe that she was healed so he could let her leave cause she thought she'll be the one to pay for the hospitals bills. Her wounds hurt but not like yesterday, yesterday was ......... gruesome.

She shivered at the thought. As she entered the bathroom it was simple but nice, there was a big mirror, a shower head and some towels and hospital gowns.

As she peeled her gown off her skin , she grimaced at the visible wounds all over her body, there were angry red bruises and purple patches all over her skin that made her retch and she did it, she puked.

After spilling all that's left in her belly into the toilet cubicle she took her bath, brushed her teeth and was changing into a new gown when she heard her room's door open. She paused in panic cause she was naked she heard firm footstep and then silence.
