Delayed Severance

Author: Audrey
(Vivian's POV)

I took a deep breath before asking the question that had been weighing on me.

"Sylvan, about tomorrow... we're supposed to go to the Pack Council Office to finalize our mate bond severance."

There was a moment of silence on the other end of the call.

"About that," Sylvan finally replied, his voice suddenly businesslike. "I'm afraid I need to travel to Northern Pack territory tomorrow for Blood Moon operations."

I frowned. "Tomorrow? But we've had this date scheduled for weeks."

"These operations were postponed because I accompanied you to the hot spring hotel," he explained smoothly. "I can't delay them any further."

"You wanted to go to the hotel yourself," I reminded him sharply. "Nobody forced you to follow me there."

I heard him exhale, likely taking a drag from one of his cigarettes. His rain-forest scent seemed to reach me even through the phone connection.

"The situation is regrettable," he said, sounding not regrettable at all. "But Blood Moon business m

(Emma's POV)I glanced at Ruby in the passenger seat, noticing her drooping eyelids. We'd just dropped Vivian off at her apartment after our night out, but something was nagging at me."I forgot to give Vivian her winter hat," I said suddenly, reaching for my bag. "She left it at my place last week."Ruby immediately perked up. "Why are you following me when I'm just delivering a hat to her?" I said, feigning annoyance. "Little tail.""I'm not letting you go alone," Ruby replied, unbuckling her seat belt and hooking onto my arm. She let out an exaggerated yawn. "Or why don't we just sleep here tonight? I'm so sleepy.""She has to go to work tomorrow morning," I reminded her.Ruby scoffed, eyeing my overnight bag. "Then what are you doing getting out of the car with all your bags? Don't think I don't know, you wanted to abandon me and sneak off to sleep here!"Caught in my little scheme, I relented with a smile. "You're so clever."We stepped into the elevator together, still pl

  • Alpha Begged His Doctor Luna come back   Can You Love Me One More Time?

(Emma's POV)"Coward!" I shouted at Sylvan Thorne's retreating back as he walked out of the conference room.I couldn't believe it. I was only halfway through telling him exactly what I thought of him when he simply turned and left. Like my words meant nothing. Like Vivian's suffering meant nothing!"Please continue, Ms. Rivers," Marcus Wright said calmly, holding up a small recording device. "Alpha Thorne instructed me to capture everything you have to say."I stared at him in disbelief. "A recording? He thinks a recording is an acceptable substitute?""He will listen to every word," Marcus assured me."His face deserves my expression more than that device," I snapped, pointing at the recorder. "Just you wait, next time we'll see who runs faster!"I stormed out of Blood Moon headquarters, my wolf bristling with unspent fury beneath my skin. How dare he walk away? How dare he leave like that when I was telling him about how Vivian had nearly broken under the weight of her depres

  • Alpha Begged His Doctor Luna come back   Atonement in Agony

(Sylvan's POV)I gripped the steering wheel of my black SUV so tightly that my knuckles turned white. The engine roared as I raced toward the Pack Medical Center, my heart pounding with an urgency I'd never felt before. Logan, my wolf, paced restlessly beneath my skin, whimpering with distress.Emma's words kept replaying in my mind: "She was making broken whimpering noises, lying on her back crying... 'Emma, I'm in so much pain, I really want to die.'"The thought of my Vivian, my little white wolf, in such despair shredded me from the inside out.I needed to see her. Now. Today. This moment. As I screeched into the Pack Medical Center parking lot, I barely remembered to put the vehicle in park before leaping out. A junior healer nearly collided with me as I burst through the doors."Alpha Thorne!" She squeaked, her scent spiking with surprise."Where is Healer Bennett?" My voice came out harsher than intended, making the young wolf flinch."She... she finished her shift an ho

  • Alpha Begged His Doctor Luna come back   Unveiled Agony

(Third-Person's POV)The rumors had been swirling through Blood Moon headquarters for weeks. Alpha Sylvan Thorne and his beautiful mate—their troubled relationship, their pending severance, their passionate arguments. Every operative had a different version of the story, each more dramatic than the last.So when Emma Rivers burst through the executive floor doors, several operatives immediately assumed she was the infamous mate they'd heard so much about."Is that her?" whispered one junior operative to another. "Sylvan's mate?""She's... not what I expected," the other replied, eyeing Emma's disheveled appearance with disappointment.Emma ignored them, her wolf bristling just beneath her skin as she marched toward the main conference room. Ruby Sterling had abandoned her in the lobby, too terrified to confront the Blood Moon Alpha, but Emma was beyond caring.Twenty high-ranking Blood Moon operatives looked up in shock as she flung open the door without knocking. Sylvan sat at t

  • Alpha Begged His Doctor Luna come back   Loyal Friends

(Vivian's POV)The black SUV's door opened and Sylvan stepped out, his ice-blue eyes locked on mine."Vivian, wait," he called, his voice carrying across the small distance between us.My body tensed as I watched him approach. His rain-forest scent reached me even from several feet away, making Phoebe stir beneath my skin."I don't want to see you," I said, my voice cold but with an undercurrent of sadness that I couldn't quite hide.Sylvan stopped abruptly, as if my words had created a physical barrier between us. His expression flickered with hurt before settling back into his typical controlled mask."Please," he said softly. "Just five minutes."I shook my head, feeling utterly drained. "Not now. Maybe not ever."Without waiting for his response, I turned and walked toward my building. Phoebe whimpered softly within me as we left Sylvan standing there, his tall figure growing smaller in the distance.Inside my apartment, I didn't bother turning on the lights. I kicked off

  • Alpha Begged His Doctor Luna come back   Heartfelt Expression

(Vivian's POV)I stood in Sylvan's office, my arms crossed tightly over my chest. The tension between us was palpable, filling the space with unspoken emotions."What would it take?" Sylvan asked suddenly, his ice-blue eyes fixed intently on mine. "What would I need to do to prevent this mate bond severance?"The question caught me off guard. After weeks of him avoiding the process, now he wanted to negotiate?"There's nothing you can do," I replied, my voice steadier than I felt. "Trying to patch up what's already broken would be meaningless."Sylvan took a step closer, his rain-forest scent washing over me. "Tell me what I've done wrong. I'll fix it."I shook my head, feeling a sudden wave of exhaustion. "It's not about fixing one thing. Our entire relationship is fractured.""Then we'll rebuild it," he insisted."Sylvan, stop." I raised my hand between us. "You could find someone better than me. Someone gentler, more attentive. Someone skilled at making you happy."His expr

(Vivian's POV)I stared at my phone screen, watching Anna's bright smile as she waved from the window of Sylvan's private jet. Her mother Marie stood beside her, mouthing "thank you" to the camera."We're going to see snow, Healer Bennett!" Anna exclaimed, her small wolf momentarily flickering beneath her skin with excitement. The video ended, and I found myself replaying it twice more, my heart both warmed and troubled. The Northern Pack specialists represented Anna's best hope against moon sickness. Yet the timing of their departure—exactly three days before our scheduled mate bond severance—felt deliberate.I tried calling Sylvan again. Straight to voicemail, just like the previous five attempts."This is Sylvan Thorne. Leave a message."I hung up without speaking. Trying our mate bond connection again, I closed my eyes and focused on the fading link between us."Sylvan, we need to talk about our appointment tomorrow."Nothing. The bond felt hazy and distant, as if he was de

  • Alpha Begged His Doctor Luna come back   Bargaining with Sylvan

(Vivian's POV)I stared across the table at Sylvan, refusing to move closer as he'd requested. His ice-blue eyes held mine, challenging, always challenging. The private alcove of The Moonlight Lodge suddenly felt too intimate without Dr. Jenkins as a buffer."I'm not playing this game," I said firmly, reaching for my purse. "Tell Dr. Jenkins whatever you want when she returns. I'm leaving."Sylvan's expression didn't change, but something in his eyes hardened. "Before you go, I wanted to discuss a rare wolfsbane extract treatment I've secured."My hand froze over my purse. "What treatment?""It's experimental," he continued casually, swirling the red wine in his glass. "Developed by Northern Pack specialists specifically for moon sickness. Very rare, very expensive."I slowly lowered my hand. "What does this have to do with Anna?""Anna's condition affects fewer than five percent of wolf pups," Sylvan said, setting his glass down. "Most succumb within five moon cycles. Each rela

  • Alpha Begged His Doctor Luna come back   Manipulative Tactics

(Sylvan's POV)The morning sky hung heavy with clouds, matching my darkening mood. I straightened my tie and checked my watch—still twenty minutes before Marcus was due to arrive. Running the Blood Moon organization required precision and punctuality, traits I excelled at in every aspect of my life.Except when it came to Vivian.I stepped outside earlier than necessary, preferring the bite of cold air to the suffocating silence of my empty home. Logan stirred restlessly beneath my skin, already sensing my irritation. When the black SUV pulled up, Marcus looked surprised to find me waiting outside."You're early, Alpha," he remarked, opening the door for me.I slid into the backseat, my ice-blue eyes fixed on the dismal landscape beyond the window. "Let's go."Marcus started the engine but hesitated before pulling away. "Is everything alright, sir?"I let out a humorless laugh. "Other she-wolves are made of water, but Vivian is made of ice."Marcus wisely remained silent, know
