“ I don't care,” I growled, opening my eyes as I looked at all of the members sitting around the table. “ You have to. You are the Alpha king and you are almost 30 yet you haven't found your mate yet,” Edward said, looking towards me expecting an answer from me. “ What do you suggest we should do, Alpha king? Should we stand by and watch the legacy fall as you get older while you wait for your fated mate?” Another one asked. “ Before you think for yourself, think about the others, Caspian. It has been so long and you have almost visited every pack since then,” my mother who has been observing quietly spoke. “ If she existed you would have found her,” she added, looking at me. “ I will let you know my decision once I am back after the treaty,” I said and stood up before they could say one more word and left the room. I could feel the sadness in my mother's eyes and disappointment in my father's. “ Damien,” I called. “ Alpha,” “ We will leave right now,” I said and was walking towards the front door when a voice stopped me. “ Caspian.” “ Mom,” I turned around to face her. “ We will leave tonight, baby. Please consider what the elders had said,” she said, cupping my cheeks. “ You know……… my words were cut off with a low growl. “ Don't waste your time on someone who thinks only about himself,” my father's words cut through the air like an arrow. “ won't worry about me, mother.” “ Go and enjoy yourself,” with that I turned around and left them in the living room. “ Alpha,” Liam approached behind me. His voice was laced with worry. “ Take care of the pack while I am gone,” I said without glancing back. “ Yes Alpha,” he gave me a curt answer before I walked towards the car that was waiting for me. Opening the door I got in and gave Damien a nod and soon the car hit the road. I stared out of the window with countless thoughts going on in my mind. Maybe, I am cursed, and this is fate. I would have found her if the moon goddess gave me a pair but I think I wasn't blessed with a mate. “ We will find her,” Jace spoke for the first time today. “ We don't have one,” as the words fell from my mouth, I sensed his pain and sadness but it was the truth and the sooner he accepted that, the better it would be. Maybe it is time to consider the thoughts of the council. I sighed, feeling retreating in the back of my mind. “ We are at the borders,” Damien spoke, breaking my chain of thoughts. “ We will take a different route,” I said, looking at the road stretching ahead of us. “ Alpha?” “ I want to see their pack’s condition before we sign the treaty. I don't want the welcome drama,” I said. “ We will go through the forest then,” Damian said looking back at me. I gave him a nod and the driver turned around towards the forest. It didn't take long to sense the scent in the air which gave me an alert. “ Stop the car,” I said and the car halted immediately. “ Rouge!” One word and it was enough for both of them to jerk their heads towards the forest in an alert. We got out of the car and looked around. They are at least a few miles away. “ There are many,” Damien said, searching the surroundings. “ shift,” I commanded, as I shifted into my wolf and they both followed. Sniffing the air one time, I charged towards their direction. It didn't take us long to reach the scene. “ Fu*k,"Jace let out a thunderous and angry growl, looking at the scene in front of us. There were at least six of them and they were all in their human form clawing and tearing a girl's cloth while she was half unconscious. Her dress was torn from many places and her jeans were ripped off of her body. All of their heads snapped at our direction looking at us with anger, bearing their teeth. Jace lounge forward taking down the nearest one but his eyes didn't leave the girl whose eyes were barely open covering her chest with her hands. “ You ruined our fun,” my blood boiled at his remarks. I gave Damien and Carl a look and they understood what we are doing now. Without wasting another second we lounged at them. As I took one of them down by tearing his throat out before he could even shift I to his wolf form, another one came on my back, trying to claw my neck. I shook him off of my back with a powerful jerk. He landed on the ground with a thud next to that girl. The rogue looked at me before he looked at the girl and something flickered in his eyes before he lifted one of his paws and kept it on the girl's bare stomach with a force. His sharp nails dug into her delicate skin drawing strings of blood from the cut. I took one step towards him and he dug his paw deeper making her wince in pain. But before he could do any more damage to her, Damien came from behind, got on his back before he snapped his neck with his bare hands. Relief washed over me as I released the breath I was holding. I shifted back into my human form before approaching her. Crouching down, I took her almost lifeless form in my arms. There was no scent on her, which made me look at her face. She was covered in mud and dirt and there were cut marks on her forehead too. “ Is she a rouge?” Damien asked, looking at her. “ No.” “ Bring my clothes here,” I said, covering her half naked body with my own from his eyes. “ Here,” Damien handed me my clothes, and turned around to leave. “ Get the car ready. We are going back,” I said, placing her gently on the ground. “ What about the blue heaven pack?” “ To f**k with the blue heaven pack,” I let out a low growl. I made her wear my shirt and boxer before I wore my clothes. Then I took her to the car where they both were waiting there. Without a word I got inside holding the girl in my arms, like a fragile flower which she is. She is not even my mate but the urge to protect her from everything and keep her close to me, overwhelmed me. I don't know who she is and where she came from or how she ended up in a jungle like that but the thoughts of her getting hurt by those filthy things send chills through my bones. “ Is she…... .Damien trailed off as he linked me. I knew what was going through their heads. “ No she is not,” I said and carefully kept her head on my chest. “ Tell them to get the healers and doctors ready in my room,” I said, loud and clear. They both went stiff at my words, but I don't care about anything right now, except my little flower. “ We will reach there by midnight,” Carl informed. Good thing that she is alive and breathing but still unconscious. She snuggled more into my chest until her hit breath fanned my neck. I gulped sensing her lips were merely half inches apart from my neck. I adjusted her before I could lose control and looked at her sleeping face. The sun was long gone and the only light inside the moving car was the light of the full moon, coming through the open window. Her face glowed under the moonlight as the wind kissed her cheeks. “ Who are you baby girl?” I asked, my voice was merely a whisper. I knew when the car entered through the gate of the mansion although my eyes didn't leave her face. As soon as the car stopped Liam opened the door and stood there frozen when he saw me, or more like when he saw I was holding a girl in my arms, cradling her. “ Move,” I said, and got out when he moved away. I took her straight into the mansion and to my room. Damien, Liam, Carl, and a few other warriors followed me into my room. “ Check her properly,” I said, placing her on the mattress. I waited for them to do their work but instead they stood there frozen in their places looking at me like they didn't hear me. “ Alpha,” Maria, one of the healers said. “ We need you all to wait outside,” she added. With a furrow I step out of my room, pacing back and forth. “ I need you to find information about those rogues. I need to know how they got there and why their warriors didn't notice them,” I said to Liam and he gave me a nod and walked away. “ The blue heaven pack is not weak but to think that there were rouge there and that there are too many of them didn't sit well,” Carl said. “ Do you think the girl is one of their pack members?” Damien asked, looking at me. “ No, I would have felt pain when we crossed their border,” I replied. “ She isn't a rogue either……. His words were cut off when the door of my room swung open and Maria came out. Worry was visible on her face. “ The girl…. “ What?” “ She is fine but her body is weak and malnourished, she should have woken up till noon,” she said. “ but her body has too many injuries including two broken ribs,” I clenched my fists at her words. “ She needs rest for now and when she wakes up I can check on her,” she said. “ Sure,” I replied and she walked away with her team. “ Tell someone to change her clothes and clear her,” I gave the order and walked away towards the study that was next to my room. “ F**k I need to control my emotions,” I said to myself, slamming the door behind me.LilyThe next morning arrived with an uneasy stillness that I couldn't explain. I had barely slept after the memory of my father returned, and every time I closed my eyes, I could see him kneeling in front of me and fastening the silver charm around my neck. His frightened expression had stayed with me throughout the night, especially the way he had told me that someone would eventually come looking for me.I sat at the edge of the bed and stared at the charm resting against my palm. I wanted to understand what it was, why my father had protected it so carefully, and why Maya seemed to know more than she was willing to tell me. The unanswered questions were beginning to feel like a weight inside my chest, but I also knew that forcing myself to remember everything at once could do more harm than good.A soft knock came from the door, and before I could answer, Athea entered carrying a tray of food. She gave me a long look before placing it on the table.“You look terrible,” she said, p
LilyThe journey back to Black Smoke felt different from the one that had brought us to the old Anderson property. I had spent most of the ride with my father's letter resting safely inside my bag, my fingers occasionally touching the fabric as if I needed to make sure it was still there. I had spent years believing that my parents had died without leaving anything behind for me, yet now I had their house, my father's handwriting, a photograph, and more questions than I could count. Every answer seemed to open another door, and behind every door waited something that made me question the life I thought I had lived.Caspian sat beside me, unusually quiet as he stared through the windshield. I could tell from the way his jaw tightened every few minutes that he was thinking about the man we had found near the house. He had died before telling us who had sent him, but his final words continued to echo in my mind. The girl was never supposed to survive. I didn't understand why anyone would
CaspianThe northern forest has always been one of the quietest parts of my territory. Even the animals seemed to avoid certain sections of it, and the deeper we travelled, the more uncomfortable the atmosphere became. I sat in the back of the SUV with Lily beside me, while Damien drove and Liam followed in another vehicle with six warriors.I had barely spoken since we left the mansion. Not because I didn't have anything to say, but because my mind was working through every possibility. The old Anderson property had been abandoned for years, yet someone had recently left a photograph of Lily near my eastern border. That meant the person responsible either knew about the house or wanted us to believe they did.Neither possibility made me comfortable. Lily sat beside the window, her fingers moving repeatedly over the silver charm around her neck. She had been quiet too, but every few minutes I noticed her staring into the forest as though she was trying to recognize something hidden be
LilyThe room became completely silent after David's words. I stared at him, trying to understand what he had just said, but my mind refused to accept it. My father had been investigating me? How could that even be possible when I was only a child? What could there possibly be about me that would make him spend his last days searching for answers?“What do you mean he was investigating me?” I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.David looked at me with something that resembled guilt, but he still didn't answer immediately. Caspian stepped closer to me, his hand finding mine as if he could sense that my legs were about to give up.“Answer her,” Caspian said, his voice low and threatening. David swallowed before looking between us.“Your father discovered something about you when you were very young,” David finally said.“He noticed that your body reacted differently to certain things. You healed faster than other children, and sometimes your wolf would react to things before anyone
LilyI woke up to the warmth of something wrapped around my waist, and for a few seconds I remained still with my eyes closed, enjoying the unfamiliar comfort. The scent surrounding me was something I had started associating with safety, and the steady warmth against my back made me reluctant to move. Then I remembered where I was. My eyes opened slowly, and I looked down to see a strong arm wrapped around my waist.Caspian. My heart immediately started beating faster.I carefully turned my head and found him sleeping behind me. His face looked completely different when he was asleep. The usual coldness was gone, and the tension that always seemed to sit around his eyes had disappeared. His dark hair was slightly messy, and his breathing was slow and peaceful. I smiled without realizing it.I didn't know how I had ended up this close to him during the night, because I remembered there being a respectable distance between us when we had fallen asleep. Apparently, one of us had moved.A
LilyThe ride back from the council estate was silent, but it wasn't an uncomfortable silence. I sat beside Caspian in the back seat, staring through the window as the lights of the city slowly disappeared behind us. My mind was still trying to process everything that had happened tonight. I had walked into the ball not knowing who I was, and I had walked out remembering almost everything I had spent days trying to recover.I remembered Blue Heaven. I remembered David and Sara taking me in after my parents died.I remembered growing up in a place that never truly felt like home. I remembered Veronica's cruelty.I remembered Ben and his family being some of the only people who treated me like I mattered. And I remembered Louise. The memories were painful, but they no longer felt like pieces of someone else's life. They were mine.I lowered my gaze towards my hands and noticed that they were trembling slightly. Caspian noticed immediately.“You're shaking,” he said, reaching for my hand
LilyI opened my eyes hearing the soft beeping sound of a machine and tilted my head towards the sound only to see a monitor. But I was too tired to keep them open, so I closed my eyes with a soft sigh.“ She is awake,” a soft feminine voice said which made me open my eyes again.I looked towards t
Lily“ Where am I?” I asked myself with a groan, blinking my lashes rapidly. I wasn't in the hospital anymore. The sheet under me felt soft and silky and comfortable, making me not want to get up unless I took a deep breath. The moment the familiar scent hit my nostrils my whole body went stiff. A
Lily‘Oh goddess no please’I had lost count of how many times I had pleaded with the moon goddess in my mind to not let them strike me more.“ Argh,” I screamed yet again when Veronica's feet made contact with my stomach.“ You pathetic piece of sh*t,” she snarled at me as she continuously hit me
