‘Oh goddess no please’

I had lost count of how many times I had pleaded with the moon goddess in my mind to not let them strike me more.

“ Argh,” I screamed yet again when Veronica's feet made contact with my stomach.

“ You pathetic piece of sh*t,” she snarled at me as she continuously hit me at my ribs.

“ I didn't know how it happened,” I groaned , clutching my stomach as I curled up on the floor.

“ You pathetic lying sh*t,” she screamed before she hit on my ribs one more time. I screamed in agony and withered in pain.

“ What is happening here?” Ben's voice boomed in the hall and that is when they stepped back from my broken body.

“ What the hell?” He yelled before he came towards me in a panic. Through my blurry vision I could see the worry on his face. In the whole pack only a few people had been kind to me and future beta liam and his family was one of them.

Crouching down he moved the hairs that stuck to my face away before wiping the blood with his sleeve from the corner of my mouth.

“ Lily,” he whispered, looking down at my probably pale face.

Without thinking for another second he lifted me up in his arms in a bridal style earning a low growl from Veronica.

“ What do you think you are doing?” She gritted out standing in front of him. My head lulled on his chest and I let it because I was tired.

“ You will answer for this,” ben said through gritted teeth, earning a lazy sarcastic laugh from Veronica.

“ Pray that I didn't kill her, today,” she answered.

“ what did she ever do to you to receive this kind of treatment from you?” He asked.

“ She existed,” the answer came almost immediately with a snarl.

“ She dared to dream of Alpha. She dared to talk to my mate,” she added with a low growl that sounded like nothing but warning.

“ He isn't your mate, Veronica,” Ben spat with venom.

“ That doesn't mean, she gets to parade behind him like a little desperate bi**h,” each and one of her words were poison.

“ That will only be his decision,” Ben argued. If I only had the energy to say anything right now, I would have told him to take me away from here.

“ And my decision will not change, Ben,” came the alpha's voice, making everyone shut their mouth.

“ Louise…… Ben started but was cut off abruptly by the Alpha.

“ Not for you, not for her and not for anybody, Ben," his answer was cold and voice was calm but distant.

“ The soon you accept this, the better it will be,” he said and I could feel his eyes on me.

“ Take her to the hospital, I will deal with her later,” he added.

“ What about Veronica? She harmed Lily without any specific reason……

“ She stole the ring which Louise had gifted Veronica,” Gwen answered.

“ I said I will deal with her personally,” Louise’s voice boomed in the living room. His voice demanded authority. I would have flinched at his voice but my body wasn't strong enough to do that as well.

I felt Ben's hold tightened on my body promising something unspoken, before he turned around on his heel and walked away.

‘ oh moon goddess I accept your decision,’ I said in my head. I knew I wasn't special to receive any kind of princess treatment from anyone but at least I was a living being and I do deserve a little kindness or maybe not. With a defeated sigh, I let myself be consumed by the darkness.

I was awakened by the soft beeping machines of the hospital which I can tell without looking that is attached to my body.

‘ I hate hospitals,’ I groaned in my head before opening my eyes.

The first thing that greeted me was the white ceiling. How I wish I would have woken up in a different location other than the blue heaven pack.

“ Oh my gosh, finally,” a small smile appeared on my lips as soon as Beth's voice came in, I felt my body relaxing.

“ How are you honey?” She asked, rushing to my side before she took a seat beside the bed.

“ Let the child breathe,” Henry came in next.

“ I am better, aunt Beth,” I said, assuring her in a failed attempt.

“ I doubt that. I had heard what that b**ch did,” she said through gritted teeth.

“ I swear…….. before she could go any further Henry placed his hand on her shoulder to calm his raging mate.

“ I will be better. Don't worry about me,” I said, placing my hand on hers to assure her.

“ Of course you will be better,” she said, flashing me a smile that said mischief.

“ What?" I raised an eyebrow at her.

“ We had spoken to the Alpha David and he said, you will be moved to our house,” she dropped it. My smile faded with each of her words. I should have felt happy, rather I felt something inside of me broke.

No no, this shouldn't have happened. I can't let them take the blame. A lone tear slipped from my eyes rolling down my cheek.

“ Sshhh,” Beth, got up from the stool and pulled me in a comforting hug. She rubbed my back to soothe me but only if she knew that their hard work and plea was going to go in vain.

I couldn't say anything, instead I hugged her tightly and let the tears flow.

“ Shhhhh, no more crying. That's it,” she said, pulling away. She wiped away the tears and looked at me with warmth.

“ You will suffer no more. You will live with us as my daughter,” her voice was gentle and full of warmth, like a spring breeze in the afternoon.

Gulping the lump in my throat I nodded my head at her.

Only if I could tell her that I had found my mate but I can't. The price will be too high for me to pay, with a deep breath I buried everything inside of me.

“ We have…….. Henry's words were cut off when someone cleared his throat. All of our heads snapped at the direction only to see the future alpha was standing at the threshold, hands were in his pockets and face was cold and distant.

“ I need to speak with her,” he paused looking at them and then after a beat,

“ Alone,” the dread washed over me but I masked it smiling at Beth who turned her head to look at me.

“ Sure, we will take our leave,” Henry said, with a smile.

“ We should get going then. We have to prepare everything,” Beth said.

“ Sure, take care,” I said bidding them bye as they left walking past Louise who had been staring at me like I had offended him.

Without saying a word he walked into the room and stopped beside my bed where Beth has been standing.

“ How are you feeling now?” He asked, scanning my face for goddess knows what reason.

“ Better,” I whispered, gulping the lump in my throat. He sighed, before taking a deep breath like my existence hurts him.

“ You shouldn't have done that to V,” he said, blaming me. My wolf whimpered at the accusations but I refused to show anything on my face, I won't give him the satisfaction.

“ I didn't………

“ Enough," he said, raising his voice slightly and making me flinch.

“ Just because I am showing you mercy doesn't mean you will talk back to me,” he said, pinning me down with his deadly glare.

“ I am your mate,” my voice came out as a whisper.

“ That is the f*cking problem,” he said, abruptly getting up from the bed.

“ You are a mistake and nothing else,” he added, anger surged through me, as I straightened up my spine getting off from the bed and stood in front of him, never taking my eyes off of his glare.

“ Why didn't you reject me then?” I asked, narrowing my eyes at him.

“ Because I will announce Veronica as my mate and you will be my mistress,” he said.

And the next thing I knew his face went to the sight side because of the force I had used. I could feel my hand burning like it was on fire and someone had hit a hammer at the same time.

“ How dare you,” he slowly turned around to face me and before I could blink he wrapped his hand around my throat in a deadly grip, cutting the oxygen supply instantly.

“ Kill me,” I managed to rasp out, meeting his stare head on.

“ Do you think I won't?” He asked with a growl that was supposed to make me tremble but it didn't.

“ You won't because I am your fated mate the one moon goddess has blessed you with,” I smirked at him through my blurry vision. That made his hold loosened.

“ You are right, I won't kill you,” he said and paused leaning towards me with a look that made my soul crawl under my skin.

“ I will do far worse than you could ever imagine,” he said with a smile which sent a cold shiver down my spine.

And just like that he stood straightened up, putting his hand back into his pockets.

“ Get well soon mate. I will take you as my mate,” he said before turning around and walking to the door, then he paused at the threshold.

“ You will regret ever raising your hand on your alpha,” he said without glancing back and with that he walked out of the room, leaving me frozen in my spot.

“ Lily,” I heard a whisper in the back of my head before I passed out from exhaustion.
