LOGINALPHA CASSIUS POV
A human mate? The moon goddess did me wrong with that, humans were too dumb for my liking… too slow, but here I was, mated to one.
She was my mate and she didn’t even know that, she was mine to own and I was never letting her go.
The way she smells, her hair, her eyes… Her body? I never thought I would ever find a human attractive, she was different, so fragile that I already knew that she would require a lot of protection.
The moment I set my eyes on her last night, my body burned for her, I have never felt that before, a strange spark so strong that I struggled with composure.
She smells of vanilla mixed with rich caramel, it was her natural scent. Her body looked so intoxicating that all I could think of was how she would feel wrapped around my arms.
She had this effortless soft femininity that I have never seen in any woman I have been with.
In less than twenty four hours she had taken control of my thoughts and emotions, she had so much power over me, and she didn’t even know that.
And I would never let her know such vulnerable information, I hated the way I felt. I was almost acting out of character for the first time in my existence.
“Please, can I have some moments to myself… please?” She had requested earlier when I walked into her room and saw her in that little pink towel that barely covered her skin, her delicate light caramel skin, so smooth and soft looking that I desperately needed to feel it, devour her and have a taste of her.
My claws itched to sprout out and rip that silly towel off.
I almost said no to her request, but she sounded so careful like she was too scared of me.
I love having that effect on people, I love seeing people terrified of me, but I didn’t want that from her.
I had granted her request, and left her to her privacy.
An hour later, I came back to find her sitting on the little couch, she was already dressed in a simple white sundress, her dark curls looking radiant as ever… But, her food was untouched.
“Why aren’t you eating, Annelise?” She startled at the sound of my voice.
Damn! She was really scared of my existence.
I walked to her bed and sat down.
There was a long silence between us, not awkward for me, but I could see the tension in her eyes. She was anxious and avoiding my gaze as she nervously fuddled with her hands.
“Can I speak to my mom, please? I can’t find my phone.” She requested, not looking at me in the eyes.
“Then you have to eat first, I have your phone and bag. Everything is safe, now eat, Annelise.” I urged as she nodded and opened the food.
She stared at the food hesitantly, I could tell that she loved what she saw, but was hesitant because it came from me.
Humans are so easy to predict.
I watched her slowly chew the food, all I could think of was how much I wanted her, how much alluring she looked in that sundress.
My wolf yearned to have her, we were losing control of ourselves for the first time.
I couldn’t wait to mark her, to claim her, to make it known that she was my possession and there was no going back.
She was part of my world now, my forbidden mate.
My pack wouldn’t like her, but no one’s opinion ever mattered anyways… Not even hers in this case.
She adjusted herself on the couch after eating and chunked a full glass of water.
“Good girl, now tell me everything you want?” I said, impressed with how good she ate.
“Can I speak to my mom first… Please?” She requested, and I smiled with a nod.
“Maybe a video call would be better?” I asked as her eyes lightened up that instant, and she quickly nodded.
I had already asked the doctor to be alert for the video call, so he answered on the first ring, and I handed my phone over to Anne.
I watched how her face went from pale to excitement once she saw her mom on the screen.
“Mom! I miss you! How are you doing?” She asked, concern lacing her voice.
“Honey, I’m doing okay. The doctor is great at his job, I’m finally seeing some improvement in my health.”
“I’m so happy to hear that…” She replied with a small smile, her eyes drifted to me for a second and she turned back to the phone. “I’m so sorry about…”
“Why didn’t you tell me you have a boyfriend? You didn’t have to lie about being on your way home, you’re 23 Anne, you’re grown Anne. He seems like a good man.” Her mom said as I smiled to myself, adjusting comfortably on the bed.
It was so easy, I didn’t expect her to believe me that quickly.
“My boyfriend?” Anne asked, I couldn’t tell if she was annoyed or confused. The look she gave me was one of ‘Are you kidding right now?’
I shrugged my shoulders and looked away with a smirk burning my left cheek.
“He said he will be taking you on a vacation soon, which means I only get to see you on FaceTime for now. But he got me a caregiver, so I’m fine, you don’t have to worry about me, just have a good time, you deserve it.” Her mom uttered softly, I could see the sudden change of emotion in Anne’s eyes, her eyes were glossing with tears.
“Alright mom, take care of yourself. I will speak to you soon.” She whispered shakily and ended the call.
She handed the phone to me and stood up, I followed her.
“What’s wrong, Sweetness. Your mom is doing okay as you can see, why are you crying?” I asked, trying my hardest to hide the concern in my voice.
“You didn’t fucking have to lie to her, doing all that to make her comfortable doesn’t change the fact that this is forced proximity. This is literally kidnap and you’re asking me why I’m crying!?” She yelled, emotions gushing out her voice.
No one has ever spoken to me in such disrespectful manner.
A human raising her voice at me was a day I never saw coming, but somehow I wasn’t pissed off, I was impressed… Maybe she wasn’t as weak as I thought.
“I’d advise you to watch your tone when speaking to me, Sweetness. I do not condone disrespect.” I warned as she went quiet and walked to the balcony.
She walked away from me?
I was strangely aroused by her guts… I followed her.
“You’re staring again.”Cassius looked up from where he stood near the balcony doors, whiskey glass resting loosely in his hand. “I’m allowed to stare at my wife.”Annelise smiled from the vanity mirror while Jasmine struggled dramatically behind her with the long satin ribbons of the wedding robe.“You’re not my husband yet,” Anne corrected.Cassius’s gaze darkened lazily. “Give me an hour.”Jasmine gagged loudly. “Can you two please remember there are innocent people in this room?”“There are no innocent people in this room,” Yvette replied from the couch without looking up from her phone.“I am not innocent,” Kelsey added while fixing the bracelet around Anne’s wrist. The bridal suite dissolved into soft laughter.Morning sunlight spilled through the enormous windows overlooking the vineyard estate, stretching across cream carpets, makeup palettes, champagne glasses and scattered garment bags. Outside, workers moved around the ceremony setup with quiet urgency while violin music fl
Crystal chandeliers cast soft gold across the restaurant, reflecting against polished wine glasses and silver cutlery arranged too perfectly on the table. The atmosphere around them should have felt elegant, romantic even, but tension sat heavily between the three people seated there, poisoning the expensive air.Annelise regretted choosing such a quiet restaurant.Every movement sounded louder, every glance felt like dagger.Even the waitress approaching their table looked nervous before she spoke. “Would you like me to explain tonight’s specials?”Cassius lifted his eyes toward her, there was no threat in his gaze, he had no intention to seem hostile, yet the woman immediately stiffened beneath the cold authority in his expression.“There’s no need for that,” Cassius replied calmly. The waitress nodded too quickly. “Of course, Sir.”She hurried away after taking their orders, almost relieved to escape.Anne exhaled quietly and reached for her glass of water.Across from her, John Mo
“Wait, hold on,” Yvette said, dropping her cup of coffee on the table. “You mean your mysterious boyfriend is actually here? In San Francisco?”Anne nodded from across the table, trying not to laugh at the way all three girls stared at her like she had confessed to hiding a second life. Which, in a way, she had.The café was crowded with the late afternoon brunch rush, voices blending together beneath soft jazz music playing from hidden speakers. The scent of syrup, coffee beans and toasted bread filled the air while sunlight streamed through the large glass windows overlooking the busy street outside.Kelsey leaned forward first. “And you’re calm? Just casually dropping that information while eating pancakes?”“I’m not calm,” Anne admitted with a smile. “I’m trying to be.”Jasmine narrowed her eyes thoughtfully. “Is this the same boyfriend Beau accidentally exposed at the wedding?”Anne groaned softly and covered part of her face. “Can we please retire that moment already?”“No,” Yve
The room was quiet except for the soft rise and fall of their breathing, the kind of silence that only exists after everything had already been said with the body instead of words.Anne lay on her side for a while, her fingers tracing idle patterns against Cassius’ chest while the city lights outside the window flickered faintly across the walls of the Airbnb. The sheets were tangled around their legs, warmth still clinging to their skin in a way that made the rest of the world feel distant.Cassius shifted first, pulling her closer as if trying to live under her skin. Then, as if neither of them could help it, they kissed again, savoring the tastes of their lips, softly, making up for lost times, leaving their marks on each other. When they finally broke apart, Anne sat up slowly and adjusted the sheets around her waist. Cassius followed her movement without hesitation, sitting up beside her and leaning back against the headboard. For a few seconds, neither of them spoke. The kind of
Morning sunlight poured through the thin hostel curtains, falling across Anne’s bed in long pale streaks that made sleep impossible no matter how tightly she shut her eyes. She had barely slept anyway. Every time she drifted off, she saw his face… Cassius Vale.Standing beneath the chandelier lights with that calm expression that always made it seem like the world bent itself around him naturally. She still could not process how he had found her.Or why her body reacted to him so quickly after months apart.Anne rolled onto her back staring blankly at the ceiling while Jasmine shuffled around the room searching for a clean hoodie.“You look horrible,” Jasmine muttered.“Thank you.”Anne groaned quietly and buried half her face into the pillow. Her phone buzzed beside her on the table, she deliberately ignored it, it buzzed again and again.Jasmine glanced over. “Who’s blowing up your phone by this time of the day? Must be important, pick it up Anne.”Anne grabbed it lazily and on seei
Champagne glasses clinked beneath crystal chandeliers while a string quartet played near the center fountain, their music flowing softly through the grand hall without drowning the hum of conversations. Gold drapes hung from the tall walls of the gallery, candlelights flickered across every table, and masked faces moved elegantly beneath the warm amber glow like a scene pulled from an old European film. The masquerade theme had transformed the art gallery into something almost unrecognizable.Anne stood near the far end of the room with a glass of wine resting between her fingers, her black satin gown hugging her body in a way that made her feel overdressed and underprepared at the same time. The gown dipped at the back, exposing smooth skin beneath her curls which Jasmine had spent almost an hour styling earlier that evening. Her silver mask sat neatly over her eyes, delicate gemstones glimmering whenever the lights caught them. She still could not believe how many people had attende
The room was dark except for the faint glow leaking through the curtains from the campus lights outside.Jasmine slept deeply across the room, one arm hanging off the side of her bed, her laptop still slightly open beside her like she had fallen asleep in the middle of doing something important and
“…I’m telling you, she did not say it like that,” Kelsey argued, her voice bouncing off the small hostel walls as she sat cross legged on the floor.“She literally did. You just don’t like being wrong.” Jasmine replied, not looking up from her phone screen.“I am never wrong,” Kelsey said immediate
CASSIUS VALE POVHey… it’s me.I don’t even know if this is the right way to start. I’ve never had to leave a message like this before. I don’t leave words behind, I show up. That’s how I’ve always handled things. If something mattered, I went for it. I didn’t sit around thinking about what to say
ANNELISE POVThe mall doors slid open behind me and the evening air hit my face in a soft, cooling wave. My arms were already tired from the shopping bags, but I kept walking anyway, letting the rhythm of the city guide me back toward the hostel. Everything felt slightly louder than it should, foot
