Daryl and Paige had changed the subject once I had declared my intent, often giving me worrying glances but I had already decided that I wasn’t going to be this feeble weakling anymore and that I was going to train harder than anyone else.
I kept my mouth shut as they talked, mostly about the curse, Paige told Daryl that she had been in touch with another witch who may be able to help but I was worried. With Paige it was different, they had grown up together, maybe that’s why they had respect for each other but bringing in a new witch that had no connections had me feeling uneasy and I knew Daryl could feel my thoughts on it. After a few hours Cole arrives with a car and picks us up, taking us back to Crescent pack, he had seen Hayden’s body but had said nothing, again I don’t know if Daryl had told him to keep his mouth shut.
In the car, Cole informs Daryl that the rogues had been removed and the land had been cleared of any sign of the fight. Daryl nods and falls q
Please hold on for chapter 38, I uploaded 37 twice by mistake and just need my editor to adjust it Christian left me alone in the library to look through the book, he asked several times before leaving if I was going to be okay, I was lying through my teeth when I repeatedly told him I would be okay but kept a smile on my face and thankfully he didn’t see through it. Thumbing through the book, I found a family tree, there was my name right at the very bottom whilst Amber's name didnt appear anywhere. Next to everyones name except for mine was the word deceased. As I turned the pages there were drawings of what the author thought was my monster but the more pages I flipped through, the more the images changed and began to resemble me and the way I looked when I shifted. A large black monster neither wolf nor vampire but something in between, it had the extended teeth of a vampire but a snout like a wolf, the ears were small and pinned to t
I don’t run, something tells me that Daryl will come after me if he hears or senses me running, but I walk quickly whilst making my way through the hallways, I still had a job to remember where I was going but it was getting a little easier each day. Heading out the front door, I check behind me, there was still no sign of Daryl but I was certain he would be watching me or have others watching. Outside I see Jordan milling around with some younger wolves and hurry over to her, without even hesitating she stops what she is doing and meets me and shortly after, Christian spots us and strides towards us, his face full of concern but when I don’t say anything he looks at me curiously and I get out a piece of paper and pen that I had stuffed in my pocket, I quickly scrawl what I need to say and hand it to Christian whilst Jordan watches me curiously. ‘How do I stop him listening into my thoughts?’ “There is only one option Ashley, wolfsbane” “Not
I couldn’t see it, I just couldn’t imagine Daryl as a weak little boy, nor could I picture him being bullied ever, he was a mountain of muscles, he kept himself to himself and only spoke if he had something to say and I had seen the fear in peoples faces when they had registered Daryl and who he was. Tana had dropped to her knees in forgiveness on hearing he was the Alpha of Alphas.“He was really an Omega?” He had told me himself yet he had lied about so many other things and I really had to know the truth, I just hope he couldn’t hear me“Yes he was, in my father’s pack” We were actually good friends and I hoped he would be my future Beta but then after the curse he challenged the Alpha of the Crescent pack” Christian grimaces “I never knew of his plans to become a hybrid; else I would have stopped him. It was to late by the time I discovered what had happened”.I had so many questions but the b
The sound of his voice appears in my head regularly yet I had no clue who was speaking or what they were saying, when I look at the man who was driving, his eyes were firmly fixed on the road ahead but his jaw was clenched giving him a strong defined jaw line.He glances at me and smiles, but the smile doesn’t reach his eyes, oh my goddess, I am being kidnapped. He reaches a hand out, but I pull away, squishing myself into the space between the seat and the door. The man with the shaven head looks at me concerned and leans further over, telling me something about sitting in my seat and when I don't move, he pulls me back on to my seat.My head was starting to hurt and the scratching in my head was becoming more and more persistent, the man driving pulls out a phone and starts talking to someone but his words are muffled as he spoke and he kept glancing at me. When he hangs up the car gains some speed and we eventually arrive at a pair of large metal gates,
After a couple of days, things started to make sense again. I understood now that Paige had poisoned me because I had challenged her over her feelings towards Daryl, it turned out the little dab of wolfsbane worked in keeping Daryl out of my head but not in helping me to heal, it was why the poison was having such a bad effect on me because I was unable to heal and it was clear Paige knew exactly what she was doing when she offered me that banana that was laced in poison.Christian and Daryl had taken it in turns to stay with me and Daryl had forgiven me for not having a clue who he was and for choosing Christian over him but only once he found out the severity of what the poison could do to me. Christian was still finding it hilarious that I chose him and was constantly winding Daryl up over it but now with everything happening if Daryl wasn’t with me then Christian was the only one allowed to be. For some reason Jordan wasn’t even allowed to guard me anymore and
I refused to answer any of his questions and when he told me I would be punished for refusing to obey, I just shrug my shoulders because I knew that my silence was getting under his skin.He marched me all the way to our bedroom and told me that if I wasn’t talking I could stay here until I was ready to talk. He turns and walks away, not even glancing back and pulls the door tightly shut. A few moments later it was followed by the turn of the lock. The asshole had locked me in.Fine, if he wanted to play it that way, then I would figure out a way to escape. I checked the windows but they were all locked too although there was one that he had forgotten about, the bathroom window. It was small but then so was I and I reckon I could just about fit.Climbing up onto the basin, I push the window, which just about opened all the way without swinging back on me, it was a long drop down, but anything had to be better than staying here. Carefully manoeuvring myself
“Are you sure?” I kept my words to a whisper“Yes, now we will have to play it cool”“What do you mean?”“We will need to act like we are a couple”. He keeps his voice low as his speaks, almost a whisper and I wondered how strong the vampires hearing was and if it was like wolves“Do you think they are here for me?”Christian shrugs his shoulders, “They might just be scoping out the place for their next meal”I shuddered at the idea and then remembered that I had actually enjoyed drinking blood but I was grateful I wasn’t hunting for it.Grabbing Christians arm, I smile and tell him to lead the way and try not to look in the direction Christian had. I don’t know how convincing my acting would be, but I was certainly going to try my best.Christian walks us inside the building and we take a seat, Christian sits opposite me in the large booth and
This was not what I had planned when Christian promised me a normal day. Matthew drops my hand, whilst the other two vampires come towards us. Christian leaves his seat and shoves Matthew out of the way, putting himself between us.“Matthew, you are being stupid, have you seen my mate, she is tiny”“Christian, step out of the way, she is a danger to us all”I watch as Matthews fangs extend along with those of his two men, their eyes firmly on Christian and I“Christian, I felt it, the dark power she holds, the power that only a Royal could hold”“I’m not….”, But Matthew cuts me off, cursing Christian for hiding my truth.“Matthew, stand down”. Christian’s eyes start turning black and I knew he was close to shifting, what was strange was how the people in the busy restaurant had now turned to face the commotion and yet they still remained silent.“What
