7- You Don't Deserve To Get Loved

They say jealousy is an ugly emotion. But when Theodore Black was shaking in jealousy, it was a very pleasing sight to witness. Especially when the man claimed that he had absolutely no interest in me.

Asher stiffened beside me. He was scared for his life. And I didn’t really blame him. Theodore was looking livid in anger. A pleasurable shiver ran down my spine when my mate took angry steps towards me. Anger was swirling inside his eyes. I could see his vein pulsating in his neck. As much as unholy my thoughts were at that moment, he did arouse me. But then again, his presence was enough to make me feel hot from within

“Your Highness, I saw Miss Knight in the garden and came here to see if she was alright or not,” Asher replied respectfully and Theodore growled possessively as his fingers gripped Asher’s collars, making my eyes widen.

Your Highness,” I whispered, shocked and astounded. Theodore shook his head angrily, pulling Asher closer to him.

“Leave, Asher. And I don’t want to see you near her again. Do you hear me? And if by any chance you have to be near her, stand at a distance of ten minutes. Am I clear?” Theodore ordered him, and my eyebrows furrowed in confusion. And amusement filled my eyes a minute later.

“Of course, Sire.” Asher hurriedly mumbled, and ran away from the garden at the speed of light, making me bite my lips.

Theodore Black, the Alpha King, the strongest and mightiest wolf, was seething in anger and burning in jealousy. Wiping the smile off my face I stared at him when I felt his simmering eyes meeting mine, dangerously, promising me to avenge what he was feeling deep inside his heart.

“Stay away from him, human,” Theodore said, his voice dark and alluring, igniting sparks inside my belly, giving birth to a thousand butterflies. He was about to turn around and leave when I decided to speak again.

The child inside me was giving me more courage than I initially had.

“And why would I do that, Your Highness? Last time I remember you claimed that we have nothing amid us. No bond, no connection. So why are you burning in rage when you saw me with Asher?” I asked him, my lips pulled up in a wide smile, mocking him by using his own words that were once meant to hurt me.

“Are you, by any chance, jealous, Mr. Black?” I asked him with an even wider smile, and I saw golden lava burning in his gray eyes.

With a swift motion, he grabbed my arm and pulled me dangerously close to him. I could feel him, his minty breath, and his expensive cologne. Even his clothes held a peculiar scent— enough to rile me up.

“Yes, I am. I am jealous, Serenity.” He gritted out, darkness clouding his eyes and sparks erupted on my skin as he pushed me against the tree, gently, making sure he wasn’t hurting me but the action sent me down crumbling in front of him.

“Isn’t this what you were trying to make me feel and say, right, human?” Theodore asked me with a mocking smile, his eyes twinkling evilly as he let his fingers caress my cheeks.

The soft touch made me tremble. His fingers were gliding down my face and stopped just above my collarbone as his eyes burned into mine, like flames erupting between us.

“You announced your pregnancy in front of everyone today, Serenity. And you’re highly mistaken, human, if you think I will let you tarnish my reputation. As long as you’re bearing my child, walking in my mansion, you will be with me, just me.” His low voice made me stop breathing for a second. But my heart was beating loudly inside my chest.

“I am not your possession, your highness…..” I started angrily but he cut me off by letting his fingers hold my waist possessively, making me gasp.

“You are. You are my possession, Serenity. As long as you are carrying my child inside you, you belong to me. Every single piece of you. Be it your body,” he said, gripping my chin, making me look into his eyes. “Or your soul.”

“Leave me, Your Highness.” I spat his title as if it was acid, burning me, and he smiled at me.

“Why, my darling mate? Weren’t you trying to gain my attention by talking to my Beta? Laughing like he said the best joke in the world? Weren’t you smiling with him like you were happiest with him, sweetheart?” He asked me, and my eyes burned with tears as I gripped his wrists, and pushed him away as much as I could, angry and hurt by his accusation.

“I didn’t expect any better from you, Theodore Black. A man who can fuck his mate the first night he met and then reject her the next morning, blaming his wolf for his deeds, and then make her stay in his mansion, treating her like a slave, just because he is in need of an heir, can never fucking know how to love his soulmate.” I said, stabbing my finger in his chest angrily and angry tears rolled down my eyes.

“How dare…..”

“You know, Your Highness, I have always heard that werewolves are barbaric creatures who can’t look beyond their greed for power and authority. But I always thought, no matter how vicious you all are, you, werewolves, love and respect your soulmates a lot. But you proved me wrong. You are proving me wrong every single fucking day. At first, I thought something is wrong with me. But it’s not me, Your Highness, it is you.” I said, my eyes burning with pain.

“Enough, Serenity…..”

“So now my words are hurting you, Your Highness? But do you know I am not sorry for whatever I am saying right now because this is what you deserve, Sir? Because you are incapable of loving others and you don’t deserve any ounce of love from anybody else. No wonder you had been mateless for years!” I regretted my words as soon as they left my mouth but deep down my heart I knew this was inevitable.

Something flashed in his dark eyes when I laughed through tears, wiping the wetness of my cheeks as I took a step back, accidentally tripping on the stone. Theodore’s eyes widened in panic as he saw me falling down. Before I could have fallen down and injure myself and my child, Theodore’s hand gripped my wrist, preventing the fall but my other arm harshly met the thorny branch of the tree, causing a deep cut on my right forearm.

A painful cry escaped my lips as I cradled my injured arm closer to my chest, blood oozing out of my arm. A couple of drops fell down on the ground, while a couple of drops of my blood fell on the branch, causing the fruits to ripen on them

Theodore’s eyes narrowed as he saw the fresh fruits on the branch but soon his eyes focused on mine when I hissed in pain, biting my lips to keep myself from crying. Theodore cursed under his breath as he gently held my arm and winced in pain as if my pain was paining him.

“Shit. You’re bleeding, Serenity. Come, we need to see the doctor.” He said, and I snapped my eyes at him angrily and tried pushing him away but his eyes darkened dangerously as they blazed in anger.

“Serenity….”

“I am fine. You don’t need to worry about me! After all, I am just an attention-seeker, right?” I asked him with a smile, and he clenched his jaw in anger.

“You’re bleeding, damn it! And you’re wincing in pain. Can’t you just let me take care of you?” He asked me, frustrated, and I chuckled, nodding his head.

“Of course! So that you can throw it back on my face that you just took care of me because of your heir? So that you can show me I am just a child-bearer, a machine who will produce as many children as you desire because the Gods sent me down here to get humiliated by you, to get questioned by you, to get……”

“Right now, I am not at all concerned about the child, Serenity. You’re bleeding, for God’s sake! You’re the one who is in pain. What will I do with the heir if something were to happen to you?” He asked me, his gray eyes burning dangerously, and my eyes widened.

This was not his wolf speaking. This was Theodore himself. I could tell it.

“Serenity, please, come. You’re… you’re bleeding.” Theodore whispered. Before I could have protested, he pulled me closer to his chest and in a swift motion I was in his arms. He was carrying me bridal style

Colors rushed to my cheeks as he picked me up effortlessly and started walking towards the infirmary I used to work at. My heart was throbbing inside my chest at the proximity between us. My lips parted in surprise when his eyes moved from my injured arm to my eyes in concern.

“Is it hurting too much?” He asked me, his voice was unusually soft and I swallowed the unknown feeling that was bubbling inside my chest.

“No.” I breathed out, and his gray eyes stared at me for a few seconds before he shook his head, pulling me closer to his chest even more

“Lying. You are lying, Serenity. I can feel your pain.” He said, and I laughed softly, shaking my head.

“Do you just feel my physical pain, Your Highness, or can you feel my emotional stress also?” I asked him, and in response he pushed open the door of the infirmary, placing me down on the cot, and within seconds, the entire team of doctors was lined up in front of me.

“Your Highness,” the doctors bowed down in respect, and Theodore nodded his head, gesturing towards me.

“Serenity injured her arm. She is bleeding too much.” Theodore said worriedly and amusement swirled in my eyes. Bleeding too much? I normally bled more than this on my periods.

Theodore’s eyes narrowed slightly as if sensing something wild was running inside my mind. He placed his hand beside me and leaned down, extremely close to my face, making me gulp.

“You know, Serenity, they say eyes speak a lot more than your lips can ever speak. And sometimes your eyes tell me tales of mischievous and unholy thoughts that run in your mind. And this really tempts me to mark you, Serenity. So that your thoughts are no longer hidden from me.” Theodore whispered in my ears, and my eyes moved up to look into his gray ones. They were sparkling with mischief.

Shock rippled inside my body when his words registered in my mind. My entire body froze when he leaned further, barely an inch away from my face and my eyes widened. He gripped my biceps and caressed my face. I opened my mouth to speak but nothing came out. As if my tongue froze, refusing to speak anything, refusing to let a single word out.

“Maybe I should mark you. Then you won’t be able to resist me anymore. Maybe I should…..” Theodore trailed off, his fingers rubbing up and down my arm gently and my eyes closed as his touch was drenching my soul. His lips brushed against my skin and sparks erupted inside me, making me breathe heavily.

“Your Highness…”

Sire, we are done. We have treated her wounds.” The doctor-in-charge said, making me blink my eyes as Theodore pulled away from me.

My skin glowed red as I realized Theodore tricked me. I looked at my how bandaged arm and Theodore’s face. He was not even looking at me. A few minutes ago, he was angry that I revealed my pregnancy in front of everyone and now he publicly acted like we are in love

“Wha…what?” I asked him dumbfounded, and the doctor smiled at me.

“Your soulmate diverted your mind so you don’t feel the pain, Miss Knight. You’re one lucky woman.” The doctor said, and my eyes met Theodore’s face. His cheeks were flaming red as he refused to look my way.

“Why did you do this?” I asked him, and I met him with silence for a solid minute and a half. And when I expected him to walk out of the infirmary, ignoring my question, Theodore turned around to focus his gaze on me.

“I had to. Otherwise, you would have felt the pain.”
