- First Person's Perspective -

Enise’s POV

The moment I raised the ring to her sight, I saw it—the flicker of shock that danced across Laura’s face before she tried to mask it with disdain. Her wide eyes betrayed her true feelings. She couldn’t stomach the sight of it. I didn’t blame her; she probably never imagined Lucas would move on, much less propose to someone else.

But instead of backing off, Laura did what I should’ve expected from someone like her—she charged toward me, her heels clicking furiously against the pavement.

“Oh, no, not today,” I muttered under my breath, diving back into my car and locking the doors before she could reach me.

I watched as she slapped her palms against the window, glaring at me like a deranged lunatic. There was no way I was getting into a physical altercation with this woman. For what? For Lucas? That man who couldn’t even figure out the truth if it slapped him in the face? No, I had more integrity than that.

I stayed in the car, gripping the ste

    - First Person's Perspective -Enise’s POVLucas had been calling my phone relentlessly, his name flashing on the screen like a warning beacon. I ignored every single call, at least until I left Lucian’s house. By the time I finally made my way back to the pack, the clock was nearing midnight, and the chill of the night air seeped through my jacket. As I drove along the quiet, moonlit roads, an unsettling feeling began to creep up my spine. It felt as though someone was following me.At first, I brushed it off as paranoia. Marcus had once tracked down Lucian's hideout before, and ever since then, I had been on edge. Perhaps the wine I had sipped earlier was playing tricks on my mind, or maybe it was just the lingering guilt of the lies piling up around me.Still, the sensation refused to fade. Every few minutes, I glanced in my rearview mirror, expecting to see a car trailing me. Yet, nothing stood out—just the occasional headlights of strangers driving to their destinations.“Get a g

    - First Person's Perspective -Enise’s POVLucian’s behavior puzzled me. He was usually so calculated, so meticulous, and yet his reaction to my engagement had been anything but level headed. I had always assumed our relationship was purely platonic, an alliance born out of mutual goals and shared pain. There were no strings, no expectations, and certainly no feelings. Or at least, that’s what I thought. But his anger told a different story.I had assured him that my actions with Lucas were all part of the act, a means to an end. I had done everything to convince him that I had no lingering feelings for Lucas. Yet, it seemed my assurances had fallen on deaf ears. The look in his eyes still lingered in my mind—doubt mixed with something I didn’t want to name.It didn’t matter now. I had played my part, and I intended to see this through to the end. Marriage was never going to happen between Lucas and me, not when the world around us was already unraveling. With the Alpha King breathing

    - First Person's Perspective -~Third Person's Perspective ~He slammed his palm against the desk, the frustration in his chest threatening to boil over. This wasn’t how things were supposed to go. How could Enise accept Lucas’s proposal? That was the most absurd thing everPacing back and forth in his room, he bit down on his knuckles, trying to make sense of her actions. The plan had been so straightforward. They were at the final stage—Lucas was supposed to trust Enise completely, and when the time came, she would rip everything away from him. No hesitations. No complications. But now this?Lucian’s mind raced, the betrayal cutting deeper than he cared to admit. What was she playing at? Was she really starting to care for Lucas? He didn't see the need for this. They had come to the end of their plan for fuck's sake. Why did she have to go and do this? Words could not describe the anger in his heart, the knot in his belly. He was beyond pissed. All he wanted to do at the moment was

  • Alpha Lucas’’s second chance    CHAPTER 56

    - First Person's Perspective -~Enise's POV~Lucas rose to his full height, his eyes glistening with excitement. Before I could react, he swept me off my feet, his arms holding me securely as he spun us around in a jubilant whirl. His laughter filled the air, a rich and genuine sound that caught me off guard. For a moment, the room seemed brighter, as though his happiness had the power to illuminate even the darkest corners. I have no idea why I kept being surprised time and time again whenever he expressed genuine happiness and care towards me. I guess that is something being betrayed will do to you. I found it really hard to believe any words about feelings that came out of his mouth. I have made myself believe that this man was not capable of loving someone “You’ve made me the happiest man alive!” he declared, his voice ringing with emotion as he finally set me back down on my feet.I blinked up at him, my heart pounding—not with joy, but with guilt. This was the feeling I hated t

  • Alpha Lucas’’s second chance    CHAPTER 55

    - First Person's Perspective -~Enise's POV~I had been standing outside Lucas’s study, barely breathing as I pressed my ear against the door. His muffled voice carried through the thick wood, sharp with irritation. I had to stifle a sigh of relief when the conversation ended, and Marcus left without gaining any ground.Marcus was more perceptive, more stronger than I had given him credit for. That memory wipe Diana performed on him wasn’t perfect; it was already unraveling. He remembered something, and if he kept pushing, the whole plan could fall apart. The memory of that night at Lucian’s house surfaced in my mind.Lucian had been furious, his usual cold demeanor melting into uncharacteristic rage. Marcus had been unconscious on the floor, and I had panicked, assuming Diana had done something extreme.“Diana, what the hell have you done?” I had whispered harshly, my hands trembling. She had waved me off with an infuriatingly calm smile. “Relax, Enise. I didn’t kill him. I simply ga

    - First Person's Perspective -~Marcus's Perspective~I woke up to an unfamiliar lightness in my head, as if my thoughts were floating somewhere just beyond my reach. My limbs felt heavy as I sat up, squinting at the dim light streaming through my curtains. My room looked normal—everything in its place—but something was off.I couldn’t remember falling asleep.Rubbing my temples, I swung my legs over the edge of the bed and stood up, a wave of dizziness washing over me. The events of the previous day swirled in my head like a distant echo. Something gnawed at me, a faint memory tugging at the edges of my mind, but I couldn’t pin it down.As I opened my bedroom door and stepped into the hallway, the scent of coffee and tension hit me. The house felt unusually quiet, except for the faint hum of voices coming from Lucas’s study.I found him there, seated behind his desk, his face shadowed with a mix of frustration and weariness. The moment he saw me, his eyes narrowed, and his jaw tighte

First Person's Perspective: Alpha Lucas’s POVThe soft echoes of my footsteps filled the quiet hallway as I walked toward Miracle’s bedroom. My thoughts were heavy, weighed down by the events of the day. Laura’s sudden appearance had sent ripples through the pack, but none more so than through Miracle, the little girl who had only known her as a faint memory. I needed to see her, to make sure she was all right. As I neared her door, an uneasy sensation crept over me. The space outside her room was eerily empty. Where were the guards? I had assigned four—two in front of the door and two patrolling the hallway—specifically to ensure her safety. My instincts flared, sharp and unrelenting.“Marcus?” I called through the mind link, my voice laced with urgency. There was no response. My unease deepened. “Simone, report to Miracle’s room immediately,” I ordered, this time using a firmer tone.I pushed open the door, my heart pounding with a mixture of fear and frustration. Relief flooded thr

  • Alpha Lucas’’s second chance    CHAPTER 52

    - First Person's Perspective -Marcus's POVI stood frozen at the doorway, staring at the people I once considered family. The sight of Denise, no, scratch that, Enise, as I now understood, flanked by Lucian, Anna, and Diana, filled me with a surge of anger and betrayal.I had suspected that Denise was up to no good, but to see Lucian, Anna, and Diana in the same room with her, colluding, plotting... Traitors.I clenched my fists by my sides, my mind racing. I understood why Enise harbored resentment; she had been wronged, sure. But her personal vendetta didn't justify dragging the rest of us down into her chaos.I wouldn't stand by and let her destroy everything just to make herself feel whole.Lucian noticed me first. His smirk was sharp, his eyes glinting with something dark and calculating. Slowly, he stood, brushing imaginary dust off his shirt as he approached me."Well, well," he drawled, stopping just inches away. "Look who decided to drop by unannounced."Before I could react
