LOGINElowen's POV
I picked up the key, smiling. "I didn't know you had it in you to escape, Luna," Hayley said, startling me and I immediately hid the key behind me, scared. "When did you come in? I don't recall inviting you in," I glared at her, keeping the key hidden behind me and she simply smiled, bowing her head. "I apologize, Luna, for barging in without knocking. I just decided to check in on you after everything that's happened with Merlin and the Alpha brothers." "Wait, are you following me around now?" I furrowed my eyebrows at her, displeased. "I'm just acting on Alpha Liam's orders. I was tasked with the duty of watching you, and reporting your every move to him if I wanted to remain alive," she replied and I clenched my hands tightly around the key. She saw the key, I can't have her saying anything if I wanted to escape without being caught. I can't believe the asshole had me watched all this time. "So what are you going to do? Run off and tell him I'm plotting my escape?" I chuckled, deciding not to feign ignorance anymore. After all, she already caught me. "Actually," she looked up, meeting my eyes. She had that annoying smile on her face again and it upsets me. "I never really thought you'd try to escape Luna. You looked like you were ready to adapt to your new life." I huffed in annoyance, rolling my eyes. I twirled around, returning the key back to the wardrobe before facing her, my mind made up. "Have you ever been pregnant, Hayley?" I asked, slowly approaching her. She moved back until her back was against the wall and she had nowhere else to go. "No, but I've helped with a lot of pregnancies," she replied, looking uncomfortable as I cornered her, leaving her no room to escape. "Have you ever lost a parent or both parents?" I asked further, my eyes fixated on her. "I'm an orphan and never got the luxury of meeting either of my parents," she replied and I chuckled. "Lucky you then, you won't have to go through the horror of watching them die." I moved her hair out of her face, pushing it to the back of her ear. "Especially not by your hands," I added, smiling sadly. "Luna," she whispered, her eyes filled with pity and I pulled away, blinking away the tears in my eyes. I didn't want to cry because I don't think I'll be able to stop if I start crying. "Let me tell you a sad little story, Hayley." I walked towards the window, staring out into the field. The air was refreshing but it was not enough to make me feel better or less sad. "A little girl was born into this world with a cruel fate. You see, she was not like the other kids who were purely werewolves; she was different. You could say she was a monster. Even her mother abandoned her for that same reason. She had only her father to care for her before she met them. Her best friend, Raven and her mate, Caden," I paused, picking out a flower from the vase, admiring its beauty. "Well, one would expect that she would be granted a happily ever after but then fate had other plans. Her mate rejected her and her unborn baby on their very special day. Her best friend betrayed her, stealing her mate and the entire pack turned against her. The only thing she had left was her poor father who still loved her even though she was a monster." I paused briefly, turning to face Hayley. She had a sad look in her eyes and I smiled. "But guess what? This ungrateful daughter killed her father to save herself and when she tried to escape with the only thing she had left, her baby, she lost it. She was incapable of protecting anything; not her father, not her baby." I completed and a tear slipped out of Hayley's eyes. "There's no way I'll be at peace knowing that the people that made my life miserable are still alive, having the time of their life when my dad and baby are both dead and my life is ruined. There's no way I'll accept a new start without bringing them the same misery they brought me. I owe them that much after everything," I said, my fangs and claws coming out. "I'm sorry Hayley, but I'm not going to let you stop me from leaving." Without giving it a thought, I attacked Hayley, going for her throat. "Go ahead and kill me, Elowen," she said, making me pause in my tracks, totally confused. She made no attempt to dodge my attack nor did she try to attack me back. "If it will make you feel a bit better then go ahead and do it." "Shouldn't you be begging me not to kill you and try to stop me since you're stronger?" She smiled, "I choose not to and even if you kill me this instant I can't hate you. If I should hate anything, it will be fate, for being cruel to you." "Are you crazy or just plain ass stupid?" I asked, my eyes filled with tears. "I'm just a maid who shares in your pain. It's a gift to feel people's true emotions but most times it feels like a curse. You might not believe me but I feel every bit of your pain and although I can make you feel better for a while I can never really take away the pain and memory," she replied and the tears came rushing out in torrents. "It's okay, cry it all out," she pulled me closer and I cried on her shoulders, not holding back. She simply stood still and let me cry my eyes out. I don't know how long I cried on her shoulders but I eventually stopped crying and I pulled away, feeling a bit embarrassed to have broken down in front of her like that. "So what are you going to do? Take the key from me or report me to Liam?" I muttered, looking away. "I'll be doing none of that," she replied, smiling and I faced her, surprised. "I'll help you escape, Elowen," she added, shocking me. "You're willing to betray Liam just to help me escape?" I asked with my eyebrows raised, finding it hard to believe. Was she being serious or does she have an ulterior motive? "I know it's hard to believe but take it as my little gift to you. It's the only thing I can do for you right now," she replied. I folded my hands across my chest, watching her for a while, not saying anything. "How can I trust that you're not going to betray me?" She dipped her hand into her pocket, bringing out something and she drew closer to me. "Here, take this," she gave me a penchant and I took it, frowning. "What am I supposed to do with this? "I had a witch make it for you. It will help you control your cravings for human blood until you're able to control it on your own. Take it as my promise not to betray you." I accessed the penchant, not saying anything. I still didn't trust her. After all she is still a vampire and one of Liam's lackeys. She could just be messing with me but I don't have a choice than to trust her, do I? "Do we have a deal?"ELOWEN Nature has caught up with me.I had no idea how I managed to make it back to my dorm without losing my mind but somehow I did. But now, it felt like I was on the brink of losing my sanity. I paced around the room, unable to sit still. The room felt too hot, my breathing uneven. The fan was turned on and fresh air was also coming in but it just wasn't enough to quench the heat my body was emitting. It felt like there was a fire within me, burning me from inside. I gritted my teeth in frustration, refusing to scream out. My clit ached with need and I unconsciously clamped my legs together, refusing to give into my need.Of all days for my heat to come, it just had to choose today. I knew it was only a matter of time before nature came to bite me in the ass. "I can do this, I can do this," I muttered to myself, trying a breathing technique to calm my body down as I blocked all thoughts of Liam and Ethan out of my head. "Pumpkin," I yelled, jumping backwards in horror, thinking
ELOWEN Every part of my body ached. For once I didn't give two fucks about the reaction of people or if they all avoided me, I honestly didn't care about it. The only thing I needed right now was my bed but I had classes and I couldn't miss it for anything because unfortunately for me, Imelda would be taking one of the classes. Even if I do agree to skip today's classes, I'll have to explain why to her and Principal Denver.Another reason I didn't want to skip class and stay in bed all day is because I'll also be proving Liam right. I scowled, remembering the asshole called me a weakling when I couldn't land a single hit on him. Hearing that I missed class because of the training I had with him would only give him more reasons to believe that I was truly a weakling which is the last thing that I needed right now. I continued dragging my feet to class, every single part of my body aching. I suddenly came to a stop when I noticed someone standing in front of me. I slowly looked up to
ELOWENI wanted to kill him. Words were not enough to describe the rage that coursed through my system as I glared at him. He still fucking had the nerve to smile like he didn't do anything. If I were a second late, everyone would know Imelda is a fucking hybrid. I can't even begin to imagine the aftermath of that."I thought she is one of your own?" I said, still glaring at him and he chuckled. The other students were still gathered around watching us. There were even a few humans amongst them which only made me believe Liam was really crazy. If I didn't know him, I would think he was bluffing and wouldn't let Imelda fall to her death but who was I kidding? It was Liam we were talking about here. He glanced back briefly and everyone immediately dispersed, leaving just me, Imelda and Liam, standing in front of the building. "She's still one of mine, isn't that right, Imelda?" He asked, throwing a glance at her."Yes Liam," she replied, her head bowed. I huffed in disbelief, unable
ELOWEN Liam!I gritted my teeth in anger, immediately understanding what's going on. I returned my eyes back to Imelda and frowned. "Here" Riley brought out a letter and handed it over to me. "What's this?" I frowned, tearing the letter open. "Liam said I should make sure you read it."After fully tearing the letter open, I began reading it's content, a scowl forming on my face at its content. "Liam!" I clenched the letter under my grip, transferring my anger to it and totally annihilating the letter as though it were Liam.I looked up, seeing Imelda a few minutes from doing something she would regret. Her eyes were as clear as the day but I could see the struggle in her eyes. Liam has probably compelled her and fighting off Liam's compulsion isn't something even someone as experienced as Imelda can do.The students gathered around all clamored for her to go on while she shut her eyes tightly close, fighting the urge to shift and jump down from the building. After this I'm defin
ELOWEN "Unless you have plans on infuriating Principal Denver further by missing classes, you better wake up and prepare for your classes." Riley shook me awake, her perky little voice interrupting my beauty sleep. "Leave me alone, Riley," I huffed in annoyance, covering my head with my duvet as I tried to go back to sleep. "Besides getting on Principal Denver's bad side, there's also the issue of Imelda. She won't tolerate you missing classes and I'm sure the last thing you want is her storming into your dorm and ruining your day," Riley added, moving around the room noisily as she tried to get ready for classes.I finally tore my eyes open, flinging the duvet away and wincing in pain. After yesterday's drink with Riley, I think I'm going to die. I wonder how she is so unaffected right now when she drank far more than I did."You should be having hangover from yesterday's drink. Here take this." She pushed a hot bowl of porridge into my hands, surprising me. "After emptying the b
ELOWENI glared at Liam, unable to help it. The air between us was charged and electrifying. I'm sure anyone could feel it a mile away. While I couldn't help but glare at him the entire time, he kept himself pretty occupied by playing with my panties.I didn't know how to react to that. I didn't even know what I should direct my anger and irritation to right now.Should I be pissed that he is threatening my roommate and friend right in my room or the fact that he his blatantly ignoring me? There's also the situation of him playing with my panties like it's a natural thing. "I think I should excuse myself," Riley cleared her throat, grabbing her headset and I simply nodded, not stopping her from leaving. She left but nothing changed. My rage was slowly building up and Liam? He's still fucking playing around with my panties."Give me that!" I snatched it from his hand, scowling and he finally looked up to meet my eyes, frowning."What's got your pants in a twist, kitten?" He furrowe
