Marissa’s Pov

I could feel Bridget pulsing with excitement beside me as I nodded and accepted his offered hand shake. His hands were warm and a little clammy but that was fine.

Appearance wise, he wasn't exactly what I had in mind. I mean he looked handsome but….Just not my type of handsome maybe.

“Hello Bridget." He lifted the last syllable so it came out sounding like a question.

“Hi. How are you?” She said, trying to contain her excitement.

“Doing pretty good. You?" How's the d

Marissa I hummed happily to myself as I stirred the boiling pot of tomato sauce. Spaghetti and meatballs was always a winner. Kids loved it, adults loved it. It was the ultimate dish for any occasion. Birthdays, weddings, when your kids were sick, when your parents were coming to visit, and…..when your boyfriend was coming over for the first time. Zayne hadn't asked for spaghetti and meatballs. He hadn't asked for any specific dish or that I cook at all. But he was coming over with his daughter, Jane. Kids needed to eat at least and I'd stocked up on cookies and candy just in case she refused the food. I would've preferred a visit with just the two of us, Zayne and I. I'd already asked Bree to baby sit and although she pouted and whined about it, she agreed. But Zayne had insisted on me meeting Jane so here we were. " Mummy, mummy, mummy…" Ashlynn tugged at my green striped apron. I looked down at her. “Tasties." She stretched out her palm. I smiled as I blew on the s

Elias “Heard you were up and about. Glad to see it." Kimara fell into step beside me. I shrugged, “Needed some fresh air." I'd been out of the pack house for over thirty minutes. The walk through town was doing wonders for my peace of mind. Knowing Kimara, she'd trailed me the whole way and only chose to make her presence known now. “Good call. How long are you staying?" " Tired of me already?” " Not at all, Beta. That was not my…." She hurriedly began to add. “I know. I'm messing with you." I snorted in response and took in a deep lungful of air. " Smell that? Muffins. Strawberry muffins. Wanna head to the bakery?” " Errr …hmm. I'm not in the mood for pastries now Beta. I have um, important things to do." She said haltingly. I heard the end of that sentence she didn't add; And so do you. “Just one muffin, Kimara. It won't kill you." “It might." She sniffed, “Besides we're going searching again today. The file I left you…” " Screw the file “ I muttered under my breath. "

  • Alpha Zayne's Regret   Chapter 36

Elias Someone was driving a jackhammer through my head while another took a baseball bat to the headboards repeatedly. I groaned in frustration and anger, trying to fight them both off but my limbs were made of jelly. Then a low vibration began and I cracked my eyes open. Judging by the blinding rays of sunlight coming in through the parted curtains, it had been morning for quite some time. The vibration started again. My phone. The rapping on the headboards turned out to be someone frantically knocking at my room door. " Elias! If you don't answer I'm going to break this door down!” I groaned as the jackhammering in my head started up again. That bartender's son had some terrifying skills with alcohol. " Elias!” " Whosit?” I mumbled. I was sprawled on the floor with my head on the sofa, clad in the same pajama bottoms from the previous day. All around me lay empty, unlabeled bottles of heavy liquor. Custom made. I'd called the bartender with an instruction; " Tell your

Marissa Zayne had the gall to look affronted by my outburst. " What was what about?” " My boyfriend? Really?” I folded my arms. " Oh. Look, I'm sorry about that but I needed some sort of, I don't know, credibility with the doctor.” He shrugged, running his right hand through his hair. " No you didn't. You should've just let me handle things. Why do men have to find a way to take control of situations?!” I threw my hands up in frustration. " Marissa come on, this isn't about that at all. I wasn't trying to take control of anything. I promise.” He reached for my hand but I slapped him away. " Doesn't matter what you were trying to do. You don't just blurt out that you're my boyfriend when you aren't. We've only been on one date for crying out loud.” " Does it really feel that way for you?” He cocked his head to the side, voice gentle and Imploring. “What?" “Does it really feel like one date to you?" “I…." I stared up into his blue eyes, allowing them to draw me in.

  • Alpha Zayne's Regret   Chapter 34

Zayne The doctor's office was smaller than I expected. Quaint. Everything in this town was. I'd been a little taken aback when I'd pulled into the parking lot of the hospital earlier. I'd expected it to be bigger. Considering the small population though, the size of the hospital seemed about right. At least they had all modern facilities and it was maintained pretty well. I lowered myself into the chair across from the doctor. Marissa took her seat as well. Doctor Pritchard had kind eyes but his mouth was set in a perpetual frown. Not against anyone in particular. He also had a brisk way about him. He was not a man to waste his time. “Right. Little Ashlynn Thorne has been stabilized and not to worry, her condition is quite common in children her age." He began, clasping his hands on the table. “But, what caused it?" Marissa asked, "We keep the temperature moderate in the house and I make sure my children wear weather appropriate clothing…." “Mrs Thorne, contrary to popular be
