05| A bold step

Lucien eyes remained shut, his bed was as hard a a rock but he still felt comfortable sleeping on it. This was the only bed he used in the infirmary.

"You can leave Elsa, I hate being watched" Lucien said with his eyes still shut. It was obvious he had a lot on his mind and he needed the time alone to clear his thoughts.

He wasn't at peace and he needed something, maybe someone to keep him calm, but then recalling he had always been alone for 18 years made him return back to reality.

He grunted, trying to sit upright due to the little pain he was feeling in his chest. Thank goodness the cut wasn't that deep. He was sure she wasn't trying to kill him, but to make him reverse his command on killing the slaves.

Lucien smiled and nodded his head,"She did a great job" He mused and turned to look at Elsa.

"I said to leave" he commanded again, using a cold and stern voice on her.

Elsa had a lot of questions to ask, but she instantly shook in fear when the Alpha repeated himself. He was a man of few words, and regardless of whosoever gets on his nerves he kills or punishes severely.

Lucien took a good look at himself, he hand a bandage tied round his chest as a result of his wound but instead he smirked. A fucking lowly slave did this to him and yet he could only laugh and find it amusing.

The door opened and madam Baski walked holding holding a silver tray with a glass of liquid medicine on the tray. She lowered her head to greet the Alpha and when he nodded, she carefully walked towards him and dropped the tray on a table beside his bed.

"Take it while it's still hot, it might be awful when it's cold" Baski said trying to get Lucien's attention.

He could read her mind. More than anyone, Lucien knew madam Baski. She was an older woman he wouldn't raise his voice at, but she also knew his likes and dislikes.

"You have come to plead on behave of my slave?" Lucien asked, turning to take the glass of medicine.

Madam Baski smiled, and then pursed her lips afterwards, "She's an ignorant slave Alpha, do have mercy on her" her voice was pleading and her words softly spoken.

"I have failed on my duty to teach her how to serve you properly, have me punished instead" madam Baski pleaded again.

Lucien chuckled. He had absolutely nothing to do, and he was still contemplating on her punishment.

"Leave, I'll think about it" He replied and when he took the entire content in the glass, he laid-back on the hard bed to relax again.

"Halt" Lucien commanded. With the tray in her hands, Baski halted and turned to face the Alpha.

"My slave, bring her over here immediately" He said awaiting Baski's next expression.

Baski sighed. She had absolutely nothing to say for she knew that would be his next words. "Right away Alpha" she lowered her head again and walked out of the room.

Madam Baski's hands remained folded underneath her long apron, she continued sighing while heading towards the cell Lilith had been kept. Lilith was a stubborn child and she had this awful feeling it wouldn't end well if she continued disobeying or being defiant to the Alpha.

Lilith wouldn't stop humming… it's been like an hour and yet she continued. She had her legs folded and her hands encircled around them, while her chin rested on her knees. Her gaze fixed at a particular spot and her mind soaring far away. She was ready, ready for her death sentence by the Alpha, but still she had no remorseful feeling and continued telling herself she did the right thing to save her people.

She had pleaded and pleaded, but he refused to have mercy. What else could she do than to attempt a murder which she didn't plan even though it wasn't to kill him but to make him halt his people.

She heard a light knock on the fat iron door of her cell but refused to turn back and look. No one would dare visit her at a crucial time like this except madam Baski.

Her tears fell across her face and landed on her knees, but still she didn't look back.

"Child, I have the keys. Can I come in?" Madam Baski requested with a soft voice more like that of a mother's, but Lilith didn't look back at her or respond to her request. She remained mute and instead folded her hands tighter on her legs.

Madam Baski sighed. The Alpha would get really mad and maybe do something worse to her if she remained that way and refuse to speak up. Frustrated and bearing in mind that she needed to first of all console Lilith, she opened the cell door and walked in.

"Come with me, I want to show you something" Madam Baski requested with pleading eyes that told her to listen and be brave. At first, Lilith refused to look up at the older woman but she finally did with dried tears scattered on her fragile face.

She lifted her right hand which Madam Baski collected and stood up on her feet.

"Thank you child" Madam Baski said and gave a warm smile followed by a warm embrace while patting her back slowly. She would listen, Lilith would listen and be brave, strong and willing.

As Lilith walked out of the cell and outside the building, she sniffed in the fresh and refreshing air that followed. Again she was opportuned to live, and look at the bright sky.

"Here, this was where it all started" Madam Baski said, pointing at the sky. "Child, I feel something good would happen today even though it might come with a slow price"

Lilith eyes remained dull as she wasn't contemplating on the words of the older woman. How could she tell her that something good was going to happen to her when nothing good has ever happened to her since she came here. Her fate had been sealed with the Alpha and he controlled her life and entire being.

"You look weary and sad. The Alpha, he had this look in his eyes 15 years ago each time he remembered his parent and people. He was there while they were being sluttered and I barely managed to save him without this big bold scar you see on my back here" Madam Baski's words were filled with sadness as she recalled past and painful events.

Lilith's eyes calmed a bit and immediately got filled with pity, and instantly she had walked towards Madam Baski to hug her tight.

"I'm sorry my pack made you all go through such horrible things, I should take the punishment alone, and not my people" Lilith mentioned and smiled.

"Go see the Alpha, he has requested for you child" Madam Baski forced the words out of her lips and collected Lilith's hands, but to her suprise, Lilith smiled.

"I will. Lead the way. I need to know what my fate is with the Alpha" Lilith retorted, letting go of her defiance as she walked behind Madam Baski, and again, she had something important to say to the Alpha.
