Scarlet’s POV

I had never seen Ace so content.

Ever since he joined our family, he had changed. He was calmer now, more measured in his reactions. I knew he was still faking some of it, but there was strength in pretending too. Fake it till you make it, as they say. And Ace was trying.

He had enrolled in the organization’s high school and spent his free time interning under Vespara. When I asked why he chose law over medicine, he smirked and said, “I’d rather learn how to be a shark than a benevolent doctor.”

I was mildly offended.

But I understood.

I was soft. Too soft, perhaps. Vespara, on the other hand, was sharp, cunning, and fierce. She didn’t ask for respect, she commanded it. She was a good influence on Ace, and I was grateful he was learning from her.

Every weekend, I made him volunteer at the Moon Goddess temple. He was reluctant at first, but I could see something shift in him. In that quiet, sacred space, he began to look less angry, more grounded. Even hopeful.
