Chapter 03

The first person I saw when I opened my eyes was Mia. Everywhere looked white, and I couldn't move either.

I tried to call out to Mia's name, but I couldn't. I just stared at her, hoping she would stare back at me soon. When I found a little strength, I raised a finger and touched hers.

She raised her head and stared at me. "Elena!"

I was still silent. "Oh Elena!" She called again. "You're awake, I'll go get the doctor now."

I watched Mia rise up on her feet and walked out of the room. A few minutes later, she walked back in with a doctor behind her.

I was finally able to breathe and talk without the oxygen mask on my mouth. "What happened?"

"You were involved in a car accident 3 days ago."

I widened my eyes in shock simply hearing the fact that I had been here for 3 days. Mia wasn't saying a word, and the look on her face was enough to tell me something was wrong.

"You should get some rest…."

"What's wrong, Mia?" I cut the doctor off. She sucked in a deep breath, and shifted her gaze to the doctor who in return nodded her head. "You lost the baby, Elena."

I was dumbfounded.

"What?"

"I'm so sorry. We tried so hard to save your life, but we couldn't save the baby because we had to save yours, I'm sorry."

I shut my eyes tight in pain. "Elena."

"I wanna be alone." I didn't open my eyes. My head was on fire because of the news, and all I wanted right now was to be alone with my own thoughts.

"Elena…" Mia called again, but my voice was colder. "I said, I wanna be alone, please Mia." I felt choked up with the news, but I was even angrier when I raised my voice at my sister.

As I laid on the bed, I told myself that it was for the best. I had lost the baby for a good reason, and I didn't need to blame myself. I was dying of guilt as tears rolled down my eyes. I hated myself down to my bones.

The door busted open immediately. I sat up on the bed only to see my father standing right behind me with red eyes filled with so much anger.

"D…dad." I was finding it hard to speak up. An even more shocking thing happened, he slapped me so hard.

"You stupid girl!"

I was shocked to hear him say that to me. All my life, my dad never laid a finger on me, and I had never seen him this angry.

"Dad." I called almost in a whisper. Mia tried to protect me when dad raised his hand again to slap me, and he immediately hit her instead.

"How dare you, Elena? After all I've given and done for you as a father? Where the hell did I go wrong?"

I averted my gaze to Mia. "She's sorry dad, please."

"You disgraced my family with your stupid act. It had to be with our pack's greatest enemy. How dare you." I was still confused. The only thing that I knew was that my father had found out about what happened that night, but the rest of it was making me confused.

"I don't ever wanna see your miserable face ever again, you're dead to me, and to every member of my pack. I banish you from the crescent pack and strip you of all your inheritance." I stared at his cold eyes, unable to utter a word as tears welled up in my eyes. I was too ashamed to raise my head.The moment he turned around and walked away, the tears slid down freely as I was still staring at the door my father had walked through.

I knew this was bound to happen and for two months, I lived in fear of my father finding out my deepest secret. I always wanted to leave the pack, I always wanted freedom, but definitely not this way.

"What was he talking about? Who was it, Mia?" I wasn't staring at her because I couldn't. My heart was hurting so much. I lost the baby, and I lost my family's trust and love.

"A…Alpha Alessandro."

The very moment I heard Mia speak, I turned my gaze to her. "What?"

"That night, it was Alpha Alessandro." She repeated.

This was even more shameful. I was beginning to understand why my father was so angry when he walked in. He would never forgive me after this. I swallowed a lump of saliva because my throat was hurting so bad.

I rose up on my feet. "What are you doing? You need to rest Elena."

"Let me go. I need to see him for myself. I need to ask him if he knew it was me. I lost everything already, but I'm not gonna lose him. You know what I want, Mia, so please."

She stared at me for a few seconds. "You're not going alone."

Mia helped me and we walked out of the hospital. I got into the car and she immediately drove out. On the way, I cried my eyes out because I was on the verge of losing everything in my life.

The car halted right in front of his mansion. This would be called trespass, especially because we were from the enemy pack. Mia and I knew exactly what we were getting into when we walked right into that gate. I was willing to risk my life for the truth and for my happiness.

I was bold to walk in here because of what I felt that night. It wasn't just ordinary, and being here was to confirm my suspicions.

Mia and I waited outside, and a few minutes later, he stepped out of his house. He was standing on the low stairs a few steps away from the door. His eyes were staring at mine so intently and I was doing the same. I was scared, but Jane wasn't.

She told me what it meant. She told me he was our mate, but Jane also said she had a bad feeling about it.

"You knew?" I managed to ask him to break the silence. He didn't utter a word, but continued staring at me. I didn't know what was running through his mind, but I was scared.

"Being mates changes nothing." He said.

I arched my brows. He was feeling that way too, or perhaps he knew as well.

"I…"

"Stay the hell back, and I'll get done with this quickly." He commanded icily. I had no idea what he was saying, but I decided not to take a step like he had warned me.

My eyes were shaking, then he said those words that broke me completely

"I Alpha Alessandro Russo reject you, Elena George as my mate and future Luna. I have nothing to do with you and so I reject the mate bond."

He didn't even give me a chance to say what I wanted to say. Staring at him as tears ran down my eyes, I knew he had no idea I had just lost the child that I was carrying. He had no idea that I had lost my family's and packs trust all because of that night's mistake. The least he could do was to take me in.

I sniffled. He was waiting for me to accept the rejection, but that would only happen when I die.

"I, Elena George, do not accept your rejection."
