Chapter 27 | Office

I walk into Maven’s office the next day and see that some of the council members are in there. I recognize two of them as Elder Julian and Elder William, but I don’t know who the other one is. Maven nods at me as if to silently approve for me to continue working even though they’re talking to him.

Elder Julian asks in an eager tone, “It’s been a few days since our discussion, Alpha. Do you have any prospects?”

Prospects? Prospects for what?

Maven groans in response, “That’s none of your business, Elder Julian.”

Elder William sounds pushy as he says, “Have you reconsidered who I suggested? Veronica would make a lovely Luna!”

Maven growls lowly as he says, “I told you that I will not consider Veronica.”

Elder William huffs and says, “She’s a much better option than most of the women in this pack.”

Maven says, “If this is all you have to speak with me about then you may go.”

Julian breathes out, “Okay, Alpha, we’ll leave, but just remember the clock is a ticking!”

They walk out of
