Chapter 47 | Handle It

Amelia

My dad paced angrily around the room. The woman looked angry as she fixed the pentagram. She looks at him and says, “She has to drink it by the time I’m done chanting, or it won’t work.”

He looks at me and says, “Drink it, Amelia.”

I shake my head and say, “What do you mean you’re trying to get rid of the monster inside of me?”

“Look, your mother wasn’t strong enough to survive it, but you’re younger! You can handle it.”

Shock floods through me and I ask, “Did you kill my mother? I thought it was because of the Alpha.”

He shocks his head as he says, “You don’t understand baby. It’s the wolf side of you that keeps you bound to a pack, to an Alpha! Think of how much better your life would be without that.”

“Being a wolf is part of who I am! I don’t want to give that up!”

I think of Maven and the life I’m beginning to have with him. My life is finally getting good, and my dad is the last person I ever would’ve expected to sabotage me. He walks over to me, holding the cup of poison
