"Okay, I can see... you want all the intel on me," Saint says with an easy smile and looks at my dad briefly before getting even more relaxed in that chair, as though he owns that chair and this whole building. Military men don't get relaxed like that, I don’t think, "I'm originally from Canada. I got in the military at eighteen but I had a situation and left last year. I had to stay under the radar for a while but a few months ago I managed to cross the border, so I'm here undocumented. Anyway, I was looking for weed one day, that’s how I got into contact with Angelou people and I asked for a job because I wasn't going to get one any other way. They gave me a pound of coke and I started selling but then Gideon, my previous boss, decided to let me show my true skills during an encounter and he liked the way I work so he kept me as part of his team for a while and that’s how I got this meeting. That's all."

Hm. Something is not clicking, that sounds rehearsed.

"Where's your Canadian passport?" I ask.

"Lost it. All my documents are gone.”

"There must be a Canadian embassy around here."

"I’m on the run from the military, I can’t show my face anywhere near the embassy," Saint snaps. I frown and I’m about to ask what the hell did he do. My dad tries to stop me with his eyes.

"Why?" I ask anyway.

"Because I killed someone," he snaps again. My mouth falls open because... what the fuck? He’s a killer! But…

"And you served for how many years?" My dad asks, completely disregarding the 'kill' thing... because it’s totally normal here. For him. Not really for me yet but I guess I have to get used to it.

"Seven," Saint responds one beat too late, as if he's counting. If you really served seven years, do you have to count?

"So, what are your skills, Saint?" My dad continues, studying him before opening the skinny file and reading something there.

"Everything, Sir. You can put me to any test and I will excel every single time," he responds with so much confidence, it nearly suffocates me. I roll my eyes, "Strategic planning, physical combat, tactical intelligence, gunnery. The real answer is everything. I can study a situation and be ten steps ahead, always ready. It's like I can see the future sometimes."

My dad shares a little chuckle with him, most likely loving his confident demeanor. Ugh, he's totally eating it up. Saint’s... lies. His bullshit.

So he can see the future? Let's see if he sees this.

I lift my hand and slap him across the face. He gasps in surprise and my dad's eyes widen in horror.

"Your reflexes suck, Saint," I say, laughing when he stays like that for like ten seconds, in true shock.

"Eros, what the fuck?" My dad growls at me, "Apologize."

"I'm sorry, but aren't you preaching you’re so good at every single thing? Didn't you see that coming with all your intelligence and strategic planning or whatever?" I ask Saint, he's still in shock, "Okay… I'm sorry, actually. I really thought you would stop my hand. I didn't even hit you that hard."

"I didn't see it coming," he murmurs through his teeth like he can't believe it, then he turns to me again. Oh, he hates my fucking guts, "Try and do it again."

"No way, you'll see it coming this time," I murmur, laughing at the way his left eye starts to twitch. I bet he wants to punch me right now, "Anyway, Saint Bernard... what's your five-year plan?"

{ Saint }

I hate this guy. I hate this guy. I fucking hate this guy.

Thank fuck I created a whole backstory as to why I have absolutely no human documentation because otherwise this fucking idiot would've blown my plan to pieces.

Although... I guess he already did that. The perfect path I saw before I left my pack doesn't exist anymore. I will still have all the money and power I saw, but this fucking idiot is here to stay.

No matter what, no matter where, I'm stuck with him.

I tried to look for new paths to take without him in them, but there aren't any. Seriously. Unless I die or he dies, there aren't any, at least not right now when my wolf is so excited to have found his fated mate.

"I'm guessing Gideon filled you in to the fact that I'm looking for a new Head of Security," Elio says, ignoring his son’s annoying question. I nod because I know his previous HS was recently killed by his biggest rivals. Robert Wallace died protecting Elio and of course that sucks, but it’s also the reason I'm about to be rich so... sorry not sorry, "Robert started working for me twenty years ago, he was my main guy, I trusted him with my life and he died a hero. I know it's not going to be easy to find another Robert, but according to Gideon, you're the closest thing we have. I'm choosing to believe that, but don't think that means you're instantly my new main guy."

"Of course not, Sir. Trust gets built over time," I respond, "I don't expect you to magically trust me without even knowing me, but I will show you what I bring to the table... and then I will be your new main guy."

Elio smiles, already charmed, but Eros makes a tiny groan next to me and I have to clench my hands in fists to stop myself from doing something like slapping him too.

Over and over again until he fucking disappears.

  • Alpha’s Unwanted Mate   Epilogue

{ Eros } Our wedding is a small gathering with only thirty people in attendance. Saint looks like the most handsome groom to ever exist in a sharp, all black tux. I'm wearing the coolest pink suit I found and looking amazing. My dad, my cousin Mickey, fifteen of our security guys (the ones we aren't as close to, but are still important to us), The roommates: Silo, Jamie, Shake and of course Saint's best man, Angel. Then my best woman, Sammy. And then, Saint's family. Brody, Rose, two of her sisters and four other guys. Extremely hot werewolf guys. Saint's cousins. It wasn't as hard as I expected, forcing him to invite them. He agreed pretty quickly because, believe it or not, having this wedding was his idea. He said it was always supposed to be my idea, but he was tired of me taking so long to get there, but I still think it was his idea completely. We're back in Cancun, in a new resort my dad's been poring all of our money into and we're currently holding hands in front of th

  • Alpha’s Unwanted Mate   The End

"Hi, love," I say the second he leaves the truck Silo's driving. He looks gorgeous, even wearing sweatpants and a huge hoodie, with very messy hair and tired eyes, "Did you have a long flight?" "It sucked," he responds, walking closer to me, "I couldn't stop thinking about you and whatever future you saw. You know I'm diagnosed with anxiety, you can't just not say shit to me. I'll spiral. I already spiraled twelve hours. And now I'm exhausted." "I'm sorry, baby," I say and catch him in my arms, pulling him up until he can wrap his legs around my waist again, with ease and familiarity. Then he hugs my shoulders and rests his head on his arms, he's actually exhausted, "I'll take you to bed, we'll fall asleep and then in the morning I can answer all of your questions." "Mmkay, that sounds really good," he murmurs, his voice so tired. I turn to look at Silo. "Bring his stuff into his room, please," I order, he just gives me a thumbs up and a wink, mouthing: good luck. I wink back and

  • Alpha’s Unwanted Mate   Back Home

"What the fuck?!" someone shrieks and it bursts trough my bubble, but it doesn't immediately make me let go of Saint. I don't want to, even though I can recognize my fiancé's voice. He should just fucking leave me alone with my fated mate, "Eros, why are you making out with your cousin? Stop it!" His demand does nothing for me. It's actually Saint who breaks the kiss first, making me follow him like a brainwashed zombie, until I force myself to actually wake up. He carefully puts me back down. "Are you your cousin's bottom? What the fuck was that?" Deion asks the second he finds my eyes. He's being judgy... probably more about me being a bottom than about Saint being my supposed cousin. "I'm not his fucking cousin, he lied to you," Saint responds for me, his voice just as arrogant and evil as always. As it is with everyone except me, "But I'll let you two deal with this, I have to go back to Rosette now." "What?" I whine, before reminding myself he is not my boyfriend anymore

  • Alpha’s Unwanted Mate   Arms Of Steel

"No comment," I let out, taking a step back, "I’m still not getting back to you.” “Birdie," he whines again, but this time I lift a hand. “I have a proposition. Because you've been good and haven't fucked anyone else," I add, just so he knows that's what got him into my good graces and maybe continues down that path. He stops and gives me an interested look, "We can call Mickey right now..." He takes a step back and immediately disappears into his own head. So, I guess I don't even have to finish my proposition because he's seeing it play out in real time? I mean, in the future, in his head? I don’t know, but he suddenly takes a deep breath as if he just got out of underwater and his eyes get wet again. In happiness this time. "What?" I ask "Okay," he responds, nodding and lifting his hand to wipe his tears away, "Yes. I agree.” "Can you say what are you agreeing to? because you look way too happy for someone who just heard like six words out of my proposition and I never eve

  • Alpha’s Unwanted Mate   Consolation

"I'm really sorry, Saint," I whisper and hold him harder when he sobs again. My heart is breaking all over again, seeing him cry like this. So raw and real, as if... as if he actually just lost his son, "What can I do?" That was a dumb question to ask, I can recognize that. "Come back home with me. Forgive me," he says immediately, but then he squeezes his eyes shut again, letting even more tears out, "No, no, even then you don't want Timmy. Why? What changed?" "What? I..." I swallow, trying to get myself free from him and failing. I hate how familiar it feels to be this close, to talk like this, nose to nose, like we used to when we talked in bed, "I lost you. You made me believe I'd have you forever and you just ended it. So hard, so fast, it felt like death. I can't handle death, Saint. You should know that." "I do know that, I know everything about you," he whispers, those blue eyes so sad, "But it can't be that bad, you never even cried. You didn't care that much." I sc

  • Alpha’s Unwanted Mate   Doomsday

The next morning, I can already feel my wolf mostly awake. I’m pretty sure he’ll go insane once he sees Birdie and I want to make sure I see the future first, before having to deal with that madness, so I text Angel that I can’t join them today. Luckily, Deion wants to go out with him again, so everyone leaves the house, except for me and Elio, since he has an important video-call with the Mayor. So, as the day starts to unwind, I finally get my ability back. Completely. The first thing I do is look into Birdie’s future and I growl in annoyance when I see that Deion is actually a good guy. They'll have a boring but stable marriage. No kids, though. No kids. But… that’s not because of Deion. It’s because of Eros. There are no kids in his future at all. That realization makes my whole body turn cold. Ice cold. Because then I look into my own future and realize… there is actually no Timmy anymore. Only in futures so far away from my grasp, they might as well not exist.
