"WELCOME TO RAVENPORT UNIVERSITY"
I read on the banner that the lion mascot paraded in front of me. I took a deep breath as I sighed and dropped my bags on the floor. I was exhausted.
I hated the fact that I had to walk an entire mile from the entrance before I could get to my dorm. A three storey building that looked like a petit castle painted with a dull orange colour stood in front of me.
"Hey, you must be a freshman"
An extremely bubbly voice called out to me. I turned and I swear I couldn't help but get blinded by the amount of pink and glitter that had hit my eyeballs.
"Hey, I'm Emily. I'm also a freshman too"
She stretched out her hand to shake me. Awkwardly, I stretched out mine to meet hers.
"Um. How did you know?"
She looked at my luggage and spoke.
"You look really confused"
She said as she giggled and stretched out her hand.
"Silver. Silver Woods"
I said with a sly grin.
"Come let me help you get in"
She said as she picked up a few of my luggage and headed in. After a few questions here and there, I finally got to find out about the room I had gotten assigned to and then I also found out that.
"Oh my god we're roommates!"
Yup, I was gonna be roommates with Emily Sanders. I don't know why I didn't like the idea of that. She helped me carry most of my stuff up the stairs as she spoke.
"Wait, I just saw your lecture schedule we're gonna be attending a lot of classes together. Yay, this is exactly what I prayed for..."
I stopped listening at some point. She is definitely a blabber mouth and the idea of being her roommate didn't sit well with me but I didn't have a choice.
"So, where are you from?"
I asked as we headed towards the room.
"I'm from the North coast"
"Ohhhh"
I pretended like I got it but I swear I had never heard of the place before. We arrived in front of the room and I was shocked to see how spacious it was. That was good for a start.
"Woah, it's really nice"
The notorious comment escaped from my mouth. Emily had decorated her corner with all the gilter, pink posters in the world and mine was just blank by the window.
"I would have did the decor for the entire room but I wasn't sure the type of person you were"
"It's okay, thanks for everything"
I said still looking at my space.
"It's no biggie"
Emily said.

I settled in and then I couldn't help but think about everything. It was crazy to think that I had gotten here on a scholarship. I mean yeah, I did deserve it but still.
After making sure I had the perfect grades throughout high school and making sure my college application looked spotless. I sure did deserve this.
Just as I was about to go through the pamphlet I had picked on my way in, my phone rang, quickly I picked up my phone and stared at the screen. "Mom"
That was when it hit me, I hadn't called her all day. I knew for a fact that she'd be panicking.
"I'm really really sorry"
No hello, no pleasantries or endearments. I knew for a fact that she was probably worried and lonely. This was the first time since summer camp that I was away from home.
"Honey, you don't need to apologize. I just wanted to find out how getting in has been going?"
It was all faux. She really just missed me.
"Well, let's say I got myself attached to a bubble and I'm floating"
We both let out a giggle as she sighed over the phone.
"Does this bubble have a name?"
"Emily, she's my roommate"
"Ohhh"
There was an undertone to that, more like she expected something else.
"What do you mean ohhh?"
I asked sternly. She was quiet for a moment before her voice resounded again.
"Well, I just thought that you know. The bubble was a...boy"
"What? Mum it's my first day of college"
"I know, but it's just that...well. I don't know honey."
My mum was obsessed with shipping me or basically pushing me into a relationship with the next possible option that appeared. But I was sworn off boys.
Especially after what had happened in the fifth grade with Jacob Elordi. Thinking about it mortified me. Even though I hated to admit it, I was traumatized.
My mum couldn't get over the fact that I had gone through high school and senior year without an actual relationship. No prom dates, I think that's when she began to worry.
"Mum, I didn't come to college to get shipped. I have bigger dreams than...boys"
"I know. But you got to loosen a little bit"
Here we go again. We had been through this a thousand times. She had an obsession with me getting a boyfriend and since I never had one, to her I wasn't
"Normal, Silver it's not normal for a girl at your age to not have a-"
"Boyfriend. Mum we've had this conversation a dozen times. They are just things that are more important than getting into a relationship"
I just wish she would understand how important my academic future was and how much I really didn't want or need any of this relationship stuff.
"Okay honey. If you say so. I'll let you be. But it wouldn't be a bad idea-"
"Mum, I just remember that I've got a class in the morning. I have to go to bed now. I love you, kisses, bye"
I said in a haste as I ended the call. The very last thing I wanted was to entertain her ideologies on the importance of dating and finding a partner.
As I laid down on my bed. I started thinking about my fifth grade all over again. The entire thought of it gave me an anxiety attack.
Even though I would never admit it, my fifth grade changed the entire trajectory of my dating life. I wasn't over it and I didn't know if I was ever going to get over it.
***
I had woken up in a frenzy. First I had a terrible nightmare. It was about the fifth grade with Jacob Elordi all over again. I blame my mum for that
Then, I woke up to find out that it was 8:50 AM. I had less than ten minutes to make it to my morning class. Being late on the first day of college was not how I planned to start my academic pursuit.
I rushed out of my dorm without brushing my teeth or taking a shower. I really didn't want to be the one student who was going to be late.
As soon as I made it the lecture hall, I saw Emily. Then it hit me that we were both supposed to attend this class and she didn't wake me up. Was I mad? No.
Luckily, the class hadn't started yet. Instantly I regretted not brushing my teeth, now I had to rely on some mints to conceal my bad breath.
Just as I was about to get seated, I saw Emily getting picked on and in as much as I wanted to mind my business, she was my roommate and the only friend I had for now.
"Leave me alone"
She dragged her hand. After resisting the urge and contemplating. I swooped in.
"Leave her alone"
I said as I dragged her hand. Just then, I felt my wrist getting restrained by a grasp stronger than mine. Turning around, I met his gaze. His fiery blue eyes and raunchy hair.
"Who do you think you are? Her hero?"
He said with a smirk at the corner of his lips. I could feel his strength in
the way he gripped my hands but then I could feel something else, something I hadn't felt since the fifth grade. How was this even possible?
SilverThe pain was consuming me. I could feel it. It was like my body refused to acknowledge what had happened, refusing to give in to the burning fire that was already spreading through my chest. I looked down, confused, and saw the blood blooming across my shirt like a dark flower. Red. So much red.In the blink of an eye, Javier had grabbed Henry and placed a gun to his head. Seeing the police outside had changed everything. Before he shot me, I had dialed 911 on my phone and thrown it to the corner. My very last source of getting rescued and it had worked."Silver!" Henry's voice cut through the fog, raw and desperate. He tried to lunge towards me, but Javier's grip on him tightened, the gun now swinging wildly between us. "Silver, no—"I stumbled backward, my hand pressing against the wound. Warm liquid seeped through my fingers, and I watched it drip onto the concrete floor. My legs felt like they were made of water. Everything was tilting."Sit down," I heard myself say, but
HenryAs Silver crumpled."No." The word tore out of me, raw and desperate, a guttural sound that didn't even sound human. "No, no, no, no, no—"I tried to move, to crawl toward her, but my body wouldn't obey. My shoulder was on fire, the bullet wound still fresh, the blood still flowing steadily from the hole in my flesh. Every movement sent fresh waves of agony through my body, sharp and searing, but I didn't care. I couldn't care. I had to get to her. I had to reach her. I had to—Javier was standing over her, the gun still smoking in his trembling hand. His face was pale as death, his eyes wide with horror. He looked like he had just woken up from a nightmare and realized it was real. Like he hadn't meant to do it. Like the bullet had slipped out of his control, driven by a force he couldn't contain."I didn't—" he stammered, stumbling backward, his hands shaking. "I didn't mean to—she wasn't supposed to—the gun just—it went off—I didn't—""Silver!" I screamed her name, my voice c
SilverTitle: The BleedingThe floor was cold against my back.I could feel it through my jacket, through my jeans, through every layer of clothing that was supposed to protect me from the world. But nothing could protect me from this. Nothing could protect me from the burning pain in my side, spreading like wildfire through my veins.I was bleeding.I knew it before I even looked down. I could feel it. The warmth soaking through my clothes. The wetness spreads across my skin. The way my body was slowly, steadily, giving up.Henry was holding me. His hands were pressed against my wound, trying to stop the bleeding. His face was pale. His eyes were wild. He looked terrified."Silver, stay with me," he said, his voice cracking. "Please. Stay with me.""I'm trying," I whispered. "It hurts, Henry. It hurts so much.""I know. I know it hurts. But you're going to be okay. You're going to be fine."I wanted to believe him. I wanted to believe that this was just a nightmare and I would wake u
HenryI couldn't even wrap my head around what was happening. Silver had just accused Javier of killing Stella and I was on the verge of believing him. Standing between the both of them. I looked into Silver's eyes, I saw her certainty. She was sure. Just then, I heard the door click shut behind Javier. The sound echoed through the mansion. I stood there, frozen, my body still positioned between Silver and the door. Javier had just locked the door and waved the key in his hand. I turned to Silver. She was pale, her eyes wide, her hands trembling at her sides. She looked as shaken as I felt."Are you okay?" I asked, my voice rough."I'm fine." She swallowed hard. "Henry, we need to call the police. We need to—""I know. I know."I pulled out my phone. My fingers were shaking too much to dial. I took a breath. I tried again. And then I heard it. His voice in a different demeanor “If I were I wouldn't do that?”Javier was standing in the doorway. Except this time, his hand was insi
