Chapter 9

Explosion

Lane called for someone from his men earlier. He had his forehead creased and brows furrowed as he discussed something with that man. I bit the insides of my cheeks.

I couldn’t understand myself. So, what? So, what if he doesn’t want to brief me? Do I have to feel this way? I get that he wants to lose his interest in me but I just feel so bothered by it when I shouldn’t be.

I waited for their conversation to finish. When I saw the other guy leave the room, I looked at Lane confusingly. He sighed heavily before he spoke.

“I’ll brief you. Follow me.”

I just pursed my lips. do I have to complain? If I would, it would only extend my stay here. I watched his broad shoulders as I followed him. He gave me gears. He handed me a bulletproof vest before we entered an elevator.

I silently stood beside him. My eyes then slowly looked at his reflection on the elevator. His were straight and not even budging to look at me. I sighed inwardly and just waited for the elevator to reach the r
