Waking up in the middle of the night, I turn to the side and see that Rupert is still there. He snores lightly. It's not too loud, but the noise is there. I rub my hand gently on his head so as not to wake him. He huffs in his sleep.Looking to the other side where the nightstand is, I look at the clock. 4:34 A.M. Right around that weird time that you could wake up but you could also just go back to sleep. At least for me.I close my eyes to try and sleep, but it evades me. I lay like that for about twenty minutes. Still, I'm awake.Opening my eyes, I think of what to do. Maybe I'll explore Dane's house and find the kitchen. I could use a drink of water anyway.Scooting to the side, I make space between Rupert and then sit up. He stirs but doesn't exit his dream world. I reach over him and grab the pole the IV hangs from. Maneuvering it over him, I set it down on the other side of the bed.I sit on the edge of the bed and wait for the momentary headache to fade. After it does, I stand
"How long did your doctor say it would take for me to heal?" I ask as I finish up the last of my toast."He said about a week at least. Best if you stay two weeks off your feet," says Dane."Two weeks? What am I supposed to do until then?" I ask as I take a big sigh."You could stay here. Dad is out for business for the next two and a half weeks, so he's not going to mind. And even if he comes home, he'll most likely make you stay longer, seeing as how he's crazy about meeting you.""And what about schoolwork?""I'll just bring it to you. School starts tomorrow, so I can swing by all your classes. And you can text Pike and the others to get your work as well," says Dane."I can tell by how this conversation is going that you want me to stay here, don't you?" I say."Pretty much.""Okay. Are you doing dishes?" I ask."I'll never turn down help," says Dane with a smile."Okay," I reply.I grab my dish and walk over to the sink. The IV ran out halfway through my meal, and I just pulled o
The front door opens and I hear feet shuffle in. Pausing my rubbing of Rupert's head, I peek over the edge of the couch and look down into the hallway. I see Dane pulling off his sneakers."Hey," he says with a grin as he straightens up his posture."Hi," I reply as I hop off the couch with Rupert and walk over to Dane, "how was your day?" I ask."Pretty much the same. P.E. was a bit of a pain, but it's getting cooler so I don't have to worry about the heat," he replies. He pulls the collar of his white T-shirt and lets some heat escape. I see a little sweat stain on the front, right in the middle of his chest."Your shirt says otherwise," I remark as I point it out. Dane glances down."Well, I was a bit in a rush to get to your classes to pick up your work," says Dane."Well, thank you for that," I reply with a smile. Dane smiles and leans down for a kiss. I lean forward and connect my lips to his. It's a light peck, but I enjoy it."What do you have planned for dinner?" asks Dane as
"Avezedo is probably going to trash-talk me since I've missed so much of his class," I say as I wash the dishes. Breakfast was some scrambled eggs with cheese and sausages. Along with buttered toast and some jam."You'll just have to deal with it," says Dane as he dries the plates I hand him."I'd rather not," I remark. But I smile at Dane. He leans in for a quick peck and lays his hand on my ribcage. That spot seems to be somewhere we both like him to have his hand on. I like it because it makes me feel so safe, and Dane apparently likes it for some reason he hasn't told me. I'll ask him later."Well, we better get going," says Dane as he pulls away from the kiss."Okay," I say with a sigh. I walk out the kitchen with him and to the foyer where I left my stuff. My backpack as well as his sit crumpled on the ground slightly. I reach down and grab both. Turning to Dane, I hand him his."Thanks," he says. We walk out and head over to the car. The early October day is cool, and just a hi
"You may not know this, or you may, but I didn't get my title of 'third most dangerous individual in the North American Continent' by sleeping around with degenerates like you," I say as I stand up. "And also, you should know," I say as I pull out my phone, "that everything you just said has been recorded by Mia and Ves who are listening to everything to what just happened," I say. I turn on my phone to show that it is in the middle of a call. "That's right!" says Ves from the other end, "so before you even think about doing anything to Reza, know that we have enough evidence to bring you to your knees." "So basically," I say as I step up to Avezedo whose eyes and mouth are wide open, "don't fuck with me. Or you'll not be able to scoop up anything from your little life that I destroyed again. I'll make sure of it." Avezedo's face changes from surprise to anger. His face turns a nice red, then to a magnificent purple. And a vein in his temple would burst with just a little
After school, I walk with Dane to the parking lot. It's still raining. Great."We can run for it?" suggests Dane."I guess so," I say.My clothes didn't dry, so I ended up staying in my gym clothes. Securing my backpack, I nod to Dane, and we run across the parking lot to the car. The rainy water splashes and hits us as we do. Other kids run around and a few times we almost run into other running teens. But we make it. Dane fumbles with the key for a second before he unlocks the car and we hop it."Whew. That was wild," says Dane."Yeah," I say as I push back a lock of wet hair out of my eyes."I guess it's good that you're coming to my house, huh?" he says as he starts the engine."Do you have two showers?" I ask."Yeah. We can both get cleaned at the same time," he says as we pull out the parking lot."That's good. I wouldn't want to make you wait," I say."I would make you go first," he says with a grin."You wouldn't be able to," I say."I could pick you up and bathe you myself,"
After dinner, and the dishes, we go over to the living room to just sit around and chill. I sit with him pressed to me, and his arm is around my waist. One of my arms is on his chest, and the other just rests in his loosely gripped hand. Watching TV has become out little pastime. We started watching a TV series that I honestly do not remember the name of. But it's got a lot to do with science and aliens, and some weird teen drama. I just watch it and mentally criticize all the things that seem unreal to me. "How is that even likely to happen?" I ask as we watch the protagonist's girlfriend come back to him after they both split for at least the third time, "They're obviously not meant to be together." "Maybe they are, which is why they split so much," says Dane. "What?" "Think about it. Sometimes even the most harmonious couples don't agree on everything, and they go through a little period of rose thorns," says Dane, his hand rubbing my arm, "but eventually they see past
"You really can't stay today?" asks Dane as he walks with me to his car. "No. I need to get back to my apartment and check in on it," I reply. "I could wait until you finished checking in? It wouldn't take more than a couple of minutes, right?" says Dane, his brows knitted together. "No. It would take a while. I need to be thorough," I say. "But couldn't I spend the night then? I can go and grab some clothes and sleep in your living room or something," says Dane desperately. Turning to look at him, I see that he's really upset that I'm spending the night at my apartment. It's Sunday, and I told him that I would need to go back. It's only one day, or one night really, but Dane is more than reluctant to let me go back to my apartment. His whole body language shows his feelings. Not that they're not present in his voice. His whole body is leaning forward, and his palms face me. And not to mention how he's very close to me. Even though he's always close to me. "It
