Thelia’s saccharine tone grated on Olivia’s nerves. She forced a smile, turning to face the woman who had caused so much turmoil in her past. Thelia stood there, her perfect smile firmly in place, as if they were old friends rather than anything else.

"Thelia," Olivia replied, her voice neutral as she clasped her hands together. She felt her wolf stir uneasily beneath the surface, sensing her discomfort.

Thelia stepped closer, her eyes gleaming with what Olivia could only describe as fake warmth. "I heard Cade is starting his physical training soon. You must be so proud! Don’t worry, I’ll make sure he’s well taken care of. It’ll be fun to have him under my wing during the training sessions."

Olivia’s stomach twisted. "You’re leading his physical training?" Her voice was calm, but she couldn’t hide the unease creeping in.

Thelia smiled wider, a hint of satisfaction in her expression. "Yes, I handle the young ones in their first few years of training. Don’t worry, we’re very gentle with

Richard paced into his bedroom, his expression dark and brooding as he listened to the sounds of the party in the distance. The laughter, the music, the mingling of voices—all of it grated on his nerves. He never cared for gatherings like these, and tonight was no different. He hated the pretence, the endless small talk, and the constant need to be "Alpha" in front of everyone. With a heavy sigh, he ran a hand through his greying hair and glanced around."Here," Camilla’s soft voice broke through the quiet, and Richard turned to see her approaching. She held out a small glass vial, her expression cool and composed. "Take this before you get too worked up."Richard grumbled under his breath but obediently took the vial from her hand. He knew what it was—his potion. Camilla had been giving it to him for years now—a carefully concocted mixture that kept him alive. It was just another one of the many secrets they shared. He downed the potion in one swift gulp, wincing at the bitter taste

Helen sat in stunned silence, her mind racing with the pieces of this unimaginable puzzle. Veronica’s revelation weighed heavily on her, but something suddenly clicked in Helen’s mind. A memory surfaced—something Oliviahad mentioned casually not long ago.Oliviahad told her that wolves aged very slowly. That was why Asher’s parents, Alpha Richard and Camilla, appeared to be in their 30s when, in reality, they were close to 60. Helen’s breath hitched as she realised what this meant—Richard could easily be James, Jennifer’s boyfriend. Her eyes darted to her mother, Veronica, who was staring out of the window, lost in her own painful thoughts. Helen swallowed hard, her voice breaking the heavy silence between them."Mum... Oliviatold me once that wolves age really slowly. That’s why Asher’s parents look so young. They’re not in their 30s—they’re almost 60. He hasn’t aged because he’s a wolf, Mum. He’s part of this world, just like Asher and Carlisle. We have to tell Olivia. She needs to

The sun was beginning to set, casting a warm, golden light over the clearing as the pack’s gathering continued. The sound of laughter and conversations filled the air, blending with the crackling of the bonfire. Olivia glanced over at Veronica, who had been quiet for a while, sipping her drink and watching the mingling wolves."Are you enjoying the party?" Olivia asked, nudging her lightly.Veronica blinked, pulled out of her thoughts, and smiled softly. "Yeah, I am. It’s... different, but in a good way." She paused for a moment, then looked around. "Where are Asher’s parents? I haven’t seen them yet."Olivia's smile faltered just slightly before she quickly recovered. "They’ll be joining us soon. They like to make an entrance, especially at events like this."As if on cue, a shift in the atmosphere rolled through the crowd. The idle chatter and laughter began to die down as the wolves’ attention shifted towards the entrance to the clearing. Richard and Camilla stepped into view. Ever

Olivia smiled gently. "I’m not saying you should forget it or even that you shouldn’t be upset. But... maybe you should give him a chance. Talk to him. Try to understand why he did what he did. You and Carlisle... you’re mates, Em. That’s not something to take lightly."Helen bit her lip, her brow furrowing as she thought about it. "I don’t even know what to think about this whole’mate’ thing. It’s so... overwhelming. One minute, I’m just a normal human, and the next, I’m supposedly destined to be with a werewolf for the rest of my life."Olivia smiled sympathetically. "I know it’s a lot to process. But I have warned Asher that you will not be forced to become Carlisle’s mate and go through the transformation if you don’t want."Helen nodded and butted her lips.Olivialooked at her and asked, "Do you like Carlisle ?"Helen looked up at her and nodded."I tried to ignore these feelings, but they just keep getting stronger. I don’t know what to do.""That’s the thing about the mate bond

Helen felt a bit out of place as she and Veronica wandered through the gathering, sticking close to Olivia, who had been introducing them around. The wolves were friendly enough, but there was an unmistakable air of curiosity that came from the mingling of humans with wolves.Suddenly, a small whirlwind of energy barrelled towards Helen."Aunt Helen!" Cade’s high-pitched voice rang out as he crashed into her legs, arms flinging around her in a fierce hug. Helen let out a soft laugh, bending down to scoop him up into her arms."Well, look at you!" Helen grinned, brushing a few strands of hair from his face. "You’ve gotten even taller since I last saw you."Cade grinned wide."I missed you! You should live with us again, like before." his eyes sparkled with hope, and for a moment, Helen’s heart softened. She pressed a kiss to his forehead, indulging his request for the moment. "I missed you too, Cade. But you know, I can’t live with you all the time, buddy."Cade pouted dramatically, wr

Camilla gave a dismissive wave of her hand. "Asher will take care of Abel. That snake crossed the line when he attacked Olivia. Asher won’t let him get away with that.""And Cassius?" Richard’s voice was sharp; his gaze locked onto hers. "What do you plan to do about him?"A small, cold smile tugged at Camilla’s lips. "Cassius will be handled. I’ll shut him up with some contracts and money. He’s predictable, and he knows better than to bite the hand that feeds him." She paused, leaning back in her chair. "It’s politics, Richard. You and I both know it’s not always about who’s right but who has the upper hand." Richard exhaled deeply, his eyes searching hers. "Sometimes I wonder if Asher knows the weight of the world we’re handing him."Camilla’s smile faded, her face growing serious. For a moment, something flickered in her eyes, something softer, but it disappeared just as quickly as it came. "He’ll figure it out," she said, her voice quieter now. "He’s smart. And strong. I wish Ash
