03 - Best friends

"Kai is a big stupid hypocrite," Mia Matsen says to her best friend, who listens attentively. Liv just agrees with everything that's being said as they sit on the blue-eyed girl's bed, eating chocolate chip cookies made by her. "He talks about guys hitting on me and using his jackets and shirts to have his scent... And he's chatting with that secretary, Sophia Slut Smith." Her tone is irritated as she grabs a cookie. "Can you believe that today I went there and when I got to his office, the slut practically had her cleavage in his face? And she doesn't even have breasts for that. And I know she's been with all the alphas in that company, even Kai before we got together." Her voice sounds indignant and she's seething with jealousy inside. Now she's calmer, but earlier she almost pulled the girl off her alpha by the hair.

"Yeah, you've been talking about this since you got here," Liv Westberg says and smiles, the wrinkles appearing in the corners of her blue eyes are more than adorable, making her omega friend smile too. "Kai loves you. And even though I don't know him well, I can see how he looks at you. It's like he's seeing a goddess." She adds, gently caressing the girl's arms.

"It's not that I don't trust him, but I can't trust her. Because of that slut, we ended up having a big fight." The brunette speaks in a tired and loud sigh. "I don't know what's been happening between us lately. It's the third fight this week." She speaks sadly, her hazel eyes tear up. It's really the third time they've fought that week. Usually, the reason is the jealousy of the alpha wolf. Mia admits that sometimes she likes to provoke just to see her boyfriend's reaction, but sometimes he gets mad for no reason.

Liv smiles gently, kneeling on the bed. She's wearing a blue long-sleeved shirt and lilac boxer briefs. The blue-eyed omega puts her hand on the brunette's face and wipes away a single tear that rolls down her beautifully sculpted face. Then she kisses the spot where the tear was.

"Maybe it's just stress... He's stressed because of the company and you're stressed because of college assignments," Liv suggests. The girl has been very worried about her seminars and final exams. Law school for an omega wasn't that easy. 30% of the students were betas, 68% alphas, and 2% omegas. "You guys might just be going through a phase, it's happened before," the girl reminds her friend of last year when the fights were more frequent, twice a day. Until the brunette decided it would be better to break up because it wasn't working out. But in the end, they decided to get back together. "And you also need to talk about it instead of ending up in bed all the time." She speaks and blushes a bit. Sex always followed after the fights. Sometimes the brunette would even limp for five days.

"It's more likely that everything ends up in bed rather than us talking." Mia smiles weakly, resting her forehead against her best friend's. "And when we do try to talk, we never come to a solution for our problems. It's always the same... I suggest taking a break, but he refuses." She lets out a long sigh. "Liv, I understand that his busy work schedule affects his temperament, but it doesn't justify him flirting with the first guy who says 'hi' to me. I know sometimes I provoke it, and when it's like that, it's good... but I hardly have any friends, and for him, everyone has ulterior motives. His jealousy mixed with mine is like a nuclear bomb."

"Yeah," Liv agrees, gently stroking her friend's face with a smile. "I remember when he dislocated that slimy Naughty's jaw with one punch." She chuckles, recalling the guy who shamelessly hit on Mia, latching onto her like a tick and making disgusting declarations on social media. When Kai found out, he was furious. Liv will never forget when he picked her up from college and saw Naughty cowering in front of the true alpha, who was six foot two and had dislocated his jaw with a single punch. Naughty never looked at Mia again, and he avoids her whenever he crosses paths with her.

"Oh, no," Mia shakes her head. "That disgusting fat guy deserved it. And I think it was too little, actually," she giggles. "It's just that... I like it when he's jealous of me. I feel desired by him, and when we end up having sex, it's good." She bites her lower lip as she remembers Kai's large body on top of hers. "Wow! There's nothing like a true alpha, it doesn't compare to an ordinary alpha. The real problem is the fights." She finishes, truly enjoying the wild sex that her boyfriend offers her.

"I don't know what it's like, and I probably never will. My chances of being in a relationship with a true alpha are one in a million... and I don't even know if I could satisfy one," Liv says, looking at Mia and smiling. "But talking is the best we can do."

"Never say never." Mia winks and smiles, then feels her phone vibrate on the bed, drawing both pairs of eyes to the device. The name 'Love' shines on the blinking screen of her phone. The brunette sighs hesitantly.

"Aren't you going to answer? You should, he must be worried," Liv advises. Mia has been there since early afternoon and it's almost nine o'clock at night, and she hasn't shown any signs of life to her boyfriend. However, Mia sighs and shakes her head, declining the call.

In less than ten seconds, the phone rings again. The omega sighs, wiping away a tear that she didn't know had wet her face, and picks up the phone, answering the call.

"What do you want?" Mia asks softly to the man on the other end of the line. Liv smiles and squeezes her friend's hand, encouraging her.

"Where are you? Damn it! I'm worried about you. We need to talk," Kai says from the other end of the line, his voice a mix of desperation and relief. It's a paradox. Liv can hear the alpha's agitated voice.

"I'm busy at the moment, and I won't be sleeping at home tonight. We can talk tomorrow," Mia says, running her tongue between her lips and hearing the heavy breathing on the other end of the line.

"We're going to talk today, Mia," Aland says authoritatively.

"I don't want to argue with you, we're both hot-headed... And..." Mia interrupts herself with a low sob and feels the tears come unexpectedly. Liv, noticing her friend's state, simply smiles, taking the phone and trying to comfort him.

"Kai? I don't know if you remember me, but this is Liv, Mia's friend. She's here at my house," she says to the man on the other end of the line while stroking her best friend's arm, who gradually calms down again.

"Thank you, Liv. I'm on my way," Kai says from the other end and ends the call.

The blue-eyed girl smiles, handing the phone back to the brunette, who sighs and puts it in her backpack. Liv approaches her friend and hugs her tightly, being hugged back.
