Chapter no 22

I held the lamppost and steadied myself. My heart slammed into my ribs, making my insides hurt. What I had just witnessed, I knew I would be haunted forever.

“You Good?” Mason asks his voice somewhere from behind me.

I shuddered, remembering his same voice loud and inquiring before they bore holes into the man taking his life. Like he had done to the other two. What I had expected him to do anyways? Politely ask them to not kill me?

“I- I need to be alone, please,” I said not turning to him. There was silence for a while.

“Tell me when you are ready to go, I’ll clean up until then,” My heart dipped yet again, remembering the blood.

“Don’t go to the car yet,” He said before I heard footsteps, and he had left.

There was a cold nip in the air, making my skin build up tiny bumps. I ran my hands over my arms, warming them up, and folding them over my stomach taking deep breaths, telling myself what was done, it needed to be done. I could be dead today. The news is not settling in either.
