A month later,
"You can't distract me during work, Ray. I was in the middle of an important meeting." I explained to him through the phone and all he did was let out a small chuckle.
"Well, if that was more important you shouldn't have opened my text in the first place."
He had a valid point.
I should stop opening his messages in the middle of the conference room when I very well know that it's going to be dirty.
"You are so annoying sometimes," I grumbled, trying not to smile and I heard him sigh on the other end.
Life has been amazing for the past one month and we were both in a good place right now. We had a lot to talk about the past two years and we understood each other better than before. There are times when we end up fighting because of his silly insecurities and jealousy but we are figuring out this relationship stuff
I kept staring down at the piece of paper in my hand unable to believe what I was actually seeing. When I came down to get the mail this morning, I never really expected to see this. My hands were shaking and I was almost on the verge of breaking down before my grandma called out my name."What is it, Ridhi?" She asked and I quickly turned around to find her walking towards me from the kitchen, adjusting her specs. I blinked back my tears and gave her a huge smile but she still had a worried look on her adorable wrinkled face."I--I think I got in," I whispered, letting out a small chuckle and she couldn't hold back her tears unlike me."Sweet Jesus! Our prayers have been answered. Oh! This is the happiest day of my day." She choked out a little and pulled me in for a tight hug. It was indeed the happiest day for both of us in a very long time, "Your dad would have been so proud of you." She whispered, against my shoulders
A month later,"Have you packed everything?" My grandma asked for the millionth time on our way to the airport and Eshika chuckled, giving me an apologetic look."Yes, grandma. You even double-checked my suitcase, remember?" I smiled, shaking my head a little. The day had finally arrived and I was freaking out of my mind. We were on our way to the airport in a taxi and I almost felt like throwing up.This entire week had been so chaotic and emotional for me and I wasn't ready to leave yet. I've been spending every day for the past week with Eshika and my grandma, the two people who mean the world to me. They tried their best to keep their emotions in check and cheer me up but I knew them better.God, this is harder than I thought. The taxi arrived at the airport and we got out together. After unloading my luggage, we started to walk in silently and neither of us said a wo
"What?" he asked, giving me a look of shock and surprise."Ummm...the roommate advertisement online. We literally just texted. Am I in the wrong building or something?" I asked with a small frown, looking around at my surroundings."You are a girl?""Uhh...last time I checked, yes I am," I replied, trying to hold back my laugh. What was he expecting?"Wow, I thought you were a guy when I read your name." He let out a small chuckle, eyeing me up and down."Uhh...is this going to be a problem for you?" I asked unsure about what to reply and he let out a huge breath before meeting my eyes."Not at all. Thank God, I didn't hit on you," he muttered under his breath, running his fingers through his hair."I'm sorry, what?" I asked, giving him a puzzled look."Nothing. Please do come in, Ridhi." He opened the door widely
I jerked as I felt my phone vibrating below my hand and woke up with a start."Jesus!" I sat up straight on my bed and rubbed my eyes to be fully awake from my deep sleep. I took my phone a noticed a couple of missed calls from Eshika and my grandma and let out a soft sigh. Just when I was about to call them back, I noticed that the time was two am in the morning which means it was around noon in India."Damn, did I just sleep for twelve hours straight?" I spoke to myself and groaned out loud, still feeling tired and jetlagged from my long flight. I looked around the room and felt satisfied with my work. I had unpacked my stuff and set up my entire room before falling asleep.I stood up from my bed and stretched a little bit before pulling my long hair into a bun. I grabbed my phone and walked outside as my stomach growled for food. I decided to make myself a glass of turmeric milk. On my way to the kitchen, I called my gr
The next day I woke up at seven in the morning, excited to get ready for my first day of college. I took a nice long shower and got dressed wearing my favorite skinny blue jeans and white floral top. After blow-drying my long hair and applying minimal makeup, I grabbed my sling bag and phone and made my way outside. It was almost eight when I checked my phone and I noticed a message from Eshika. 'All the best for your first day, babe. Love you and call me later.' - Eshika. I smiled and typed out a quick reply. 'Thanks, Esh. Love you too and miss you already <3.' I hit sent and looked around to see if Ray was awake but the living room was deserted. I couldn't find him or the blonde girl he was with last night so I decided to leave the apartment as soon as possible as I didn't want another awkward encounter with his so called 'company'. I made my way towards the ki
One month Later, Things were kind of normal and I was starting to adapt to my new lifestyle and food in Texas. I was now well aware of my route from the apartment to the university and also some near by shops and restaurants. My classes were going fine and Trina was being such a good friend to me. She is helping me to understand a lot of things about the people and the culture over here whereas I tell her all about my Indian culture and my household which she seems to love for some weird reason. I haven't told her about my parents yet but I will eventually. The funny thing is that, Eshika has become so jealous of her that everytime I mention her name, she gets pissed, assuming that I was replacing her already. That girl can be so dramatic sometimes. "Alright, woman. Enough about your new best friend. Tell me more about the hottie your are living with," she squealed in excitem
I kept massaging my temples on my way back to my apartment the next morning. To say that I had fun would definitely be an understatement because I let loose and just went crazy hanging out with Trina and her girlfriend. I didn't want to be that uptight, dorky girl anymore and these guys succeeded in corrupting me with all the sex talk and alcohol. Yes, I tried vodka for the first time in my life and I actually kinda liked it but definitely hate the stupid hangover that I was now experiencing. They almost made me watch porn when I said that I was a virgin. I mean, I do know all about sex and stuff and I have even tried to pleasure myself once but it didn't really work out for me. They were really sweet and didn't make me feel awkward. To be honest, I quite enjoyed the sleepover. Simon obviously left us alone after the movie to hang out with his guy friends but not before asking me for my number. And, Tr
"So you guys are on talking terms now?" Eshika asked through the phone and I just hummed in response, still deep in thoughts about my earlier conversation with Ray. "Why did you forgive him easily? You should have asked me for advice, Ridhi." She started to yell, making me roll my eyes. "I don't know, babe. He was genuinely sorry and he even tried to make it up to me by doing the dishes and everything." I started to defend him and could hear her loud sigh from the other end. "Alright, we will see. So, what about Simon? Has he called you yet?" "No, I am pretty sure he must have totally forgotten about me by now." I scoffed, balancing my phone between my shoulders and my ears and continued to paint my toe nails. "Maybe he is busy or something. Do not get distracted by Ray. Remember he is a fuck boy," she pointed out again and I could help but agree with her. No matter how hot he is or h
