Author's POV

Emerald was sitting in the garden to enjoy the sun; she needed it, her skin was turning pale after staying indoors all day.

Egon was doing his training in front of her. He was already there when she came. He hasn't acknowledged her presence yet, it's been fifteen minutes since she sat there.

She knows that he is too focused to give her acknowledgement, he always does this. It's almost impossible to break his focus from his training.

She is still offended that he said he is not interested in her. How dare he?

But it's also possible because she has hurt him badly, and there was only one way to check that.

She got up and started walking beside the garden. Egon saw her going somewhere. He noticed but didn't say anything.

He never leaves his practice in between for anything. His stick didn't stop cutting the air, it was moving like butter in his hands.

Emerald stood by the swimming pool and released the knots of her dress.

Egon shook his head and continued his practice while turning his back towards her.

Emerald saw his back at her and dived into the pool. She enjoyed her swimming while taking her time.

Egon was trying but couldn't resist the urge to look at her. He turned around and saw her getting out of the pool.

The water was dripping from her body while kissing her curves. He had never felt so jealous of something else before.

Her wet hair clung to her body, and she was perfect.

Thankfully, she wasn't naked, or else it would have been hard for him to control.

He has refused to accept it but this woman turns him on whenever she is around, whether she is in clothes or not.

He didn't realise when he stopped swirling his stick and got lost in her. The thoughts of doing sinful things were getting darker.

Emerald dried her hair with her dress, and a faint smirk appeared on her lips.

"Level one passed!"

She mumbled to herself.

She walked inside the castle and his eyes couldn't stop watching her hips swaying with the steps. The wet bikini wasn't hiding anything.

He felt the twitch down there and cursed.

"Fuck!"

He tossed the stick away and went inside.

Emerald changed her clothes in front of the mirror. Smirking to herself, she was feeling so good after making him weak. After all, she enjoys the control.

It wasn't going to stop here, she was going to make it hard for him.

She knows that he hates her now, but she also wants to see how deep that hate is. Will he really abandon her because of that, or are there any chances of them recovering?

She is a crazy bitch, she will do anything to know the answer.

And she will never let any other woman have him, even if she is not in his life. She doesn't like it when someone else uses her things, even if they are used.

She had her lunch and went downstairs for a walk, there was a woman who was talking to Egon.

"What is she doing here?"

Her eyes looked at the girl like an eagle.

"Probably his business partner, she is here for the meeting."

Layla informed and walked away with the tray.

"Did he only get females to do business with?"

She rolled her eyes irritated.

Egon was talking to the woman who was important for the next deal. He didn't miss her hints, but was ignoring her because he wanted the deal.

They were sitting on the lawn and he noticed Emerald coming and sitting there. He let her, it wasn't something to be hidden from her so he didn't pay attention to her.

Emerald watched the woman as she showed perfumes to Egon. She knows that he always wanted to open a perfume brand, so luxurious that people will spend a fortune to buy it.

Egon smelled so many perfumes but none smelled like his Emerald. He wants to create a perfume which smells like her. Divine!

"Throw this out"

He tossed the bottle away.

"Excuse me, I'll be back in a minute."

She was crossing Emerald while going to the washroom.

She saw Emerald and stopped with a smirk on her lips and fake pity in her eyes.

"I told you, he is mine. Look where you ended up at the end. Watch me taking him in front of you."

Emerald moved her eyes from Egon to the girl like an eagle. She remembers how obsessed she was with Egon, but Emerald never paid attention to her.

"Sure, Celena..."

Celena frowned.

"You still have so much attitude... He doesn't even give a fuck about you and look at this aura. You are a fallen queen, remember that."

Emerald ignored her and she walked away.

Egon was irritated after not getting what he wanted.

Celena came back to show him the rest.

"Try this, it's specially made as per your requirements."

She sprayed it on her neck.

Emerald was drinking water, her hold on the glass tightened as that woman got up from the seat and approached Egon, while glancing at Emerald with a smirk. The guts to mock her were commendable.

He saw how Emerald was looking at them but he just smirked. He has no interest in Celena but he loves to tease Emerald.

Emerald smirked evilly at Celena, and she frowned, not knowing what she was up to. She ignored her, thinking she shouldn't be scared of her because she no longer has the power.

She bent down to give her smell to Egon, he leaned back in his chair and she leaned closer. They were too close for business.

Emerald gritted and crushed the glass of water in her hand, Egon's head snapped towards her and he pushed Celena back as he got up and rushed towards Emerald.

"Are you fucking crazy?"

He scolded her and took away the broken glass from her bleeding hand.

Celena looked at Emerald shocked as she looked at her dark smirk. She was psychotic and it was visible.

Celena gulped as Emerald got up, still looking at her with a smirk.

Egon quickly grabbed her hand and pulled her back.

"You can't kill her, she is important for the business."

He warned her.

Emerald looked at him with awe and cupped his face with her bleeding hands.

"Then keep her away from yourself, if you don't want to see this blood on her neck where she has sprayed that fucking perfume."

Egon sighed and gestured for Celena to get out, before his crazy queen kills her.

"You shouldn't be so obsessed with your tormentor, Emerald... This is not how it works."

He warned her.

She chuckled maniacally.

"These rules apply to normal people, I am psycho!"

She started walking away with her bleeding hand but he grabbed her arm and made her sit on the chair.

"Sit the fuck down."

He scolded her.

Emerald was smiling faintly when he was bandaging her injured hand.

"Remember what I told you when you first touched me?"

She asked.

Egon looked up when she said that. Yes, he remembers, how can he forget that night?

Emerald admired him, knowing he was recalling that night in his head.

  • Ashes Between Us!   89. Survivors!

Author's POV Egon held her like a man who had been starving for years and finally had something warm in his arms again. His arms tightened around her lazy morning frame, almost too tightly, as if she might dissolve into thin air the second he loosened his grip.“To be honest,” his voice came out low, a confession dragged straight from the center of his chest, “I thought you would never accept me again.”His thumb brushed her waist in slow circles — a habit he developed long before, one that never truly died.“I still don’t feel deserving of you,” he admitted, the words cracking slightly, “even though I’m selfish enough to not let you go.”Emerald’s answer came not through words at first, but through the way she burrowed even closer, nuzzling into the warmth of him like she was trying to sink into his bones. There was no fear, no hesitation — just a quiet, hungry comfort she had missed far more than she had expected.“I was in the same dilemma,” she murmured. She tilted her head to me

  • Ashes Between Us!   88. Twisted Memories!

Author's POV Rafael had been too calm-too smug-when he asked her, "Are you ready to meet the real you?"There was something hidden behind that tone... something sharp, something calculated. Emerald should have protested. She should have pushed back. But at that moment, she was willing to walk into fire if it meant finding out who she really was.Rafael placed a naked sword on the table.A heavy, gleaming blade with a history soaked into its metal."Seen one of these before?" he asked, eyes gleaming with mischief. "Wanna touch?"Emerald's brows pulled together. She knew that question wasn't innocent. Nothing Rafael did was ever innocent. But the curiosity inside her was louder than the warning bells. She stepped forward and traced a finger along the blade-slowly, thoughtfully. She couldn't imagine the things Rafael had used this sword for.She wasn't sure she wanted to imagine."Ohh... who do we have here?"The voice behind her made her turn sharply.Another man stood there. Strikingl

  • Ashes Between Us!   87. The Love!

Author's POV The ocean was about to witness their reunion again.Egon’s lips crashed onto hers with a hunger that had been rotting in his chest for far too long. It wasn’t a kiss — it was a claim, a scream, a desperate pull of two halves that had been cut apart and finally slammed back together. Emerald clutched his shirt with trembling fingers, dragging him impossibly closer, like she wanted to pull him under her skin.He groaned into her mouth, a raw, broken sound that betrayed every night he spent missing her. His body pressed into hers as the waves curled around them, cool on their skin, nothing compared to the heat rising between them. Her hands cupped his jaw, fingers shaking as they memorised him again — the stubble, the sharp lines, the warmth that had once been her home.“Egon…” she whispered against his lips, breath trembling. He closed his eyes like her voice hurt him. “Say it again,” he murmured, forehead resting on hers. “I’ve forgotten how to breathe without it.”She di
