Author's POV

Emerald panicked as he pushed her into the front seat and started driving the car.

She rubbed her face with trembling hands and pushed back her hair. She has no idea why she went with that man for a dance.

She doesn't know how it happened.

She looked at Egon, his deadly eyes staring at the road ahead. Veins on the forehead were popping out furiously. His hold on the steering wheel was turning red. Jaw was hard, like he would break it.

She realised that she had fucked up badly.

"You said, now we don't have anything between us..."

She said tensely.

"Why are you angry that I danced with another man?"

He didn't respond, and that made her heart hammer. She shouldn't have said that because he was beyond pissed.

She has fucked up many times in one night. She can't escape from him, but keeps making futile attempts because she needs to escape from him. This toxic chain will not break if she stays around him.

She knows that she is only adding to her problems with this, but she can't just sit quietly. She has to try every opportunity she gets.

She snapped out of her thoughts when Egon pushed her into the room. She looked around and realised that it was his room.

He never brings her to his room but tonight he did.

Her throat went dry with the nervousness when he locked the door behind and took off his watch before losing his cufflinks, and he still hadn't said a word.

Emerald could sense what was coming, she tried to walk away but froze when he finally opened his mouth.

"Try it and you won't be able to walk for days."

She froze at his warning.

His voice was dangerously calm, and she knew it was more dangerous than anything. She didn't dare to move as he unbuttoned his shirt and tossed it away, the wolf locket hung low on his neck.

She took a deep breath to control her ragged breathing, and she could feel her ears turning hot.

"What made you think that other man can touch you?"

He asked calmly while pouring a drink.

She gulped.

"It's none of your business!"

She shouldn't have said that.

His eyes looked sharply at her. He gulped down the drink and threw the empty glass across the room, shattering it into crystal-like pieces.

She didn't flinch because she was prepared for this. He was going to get offended by her reply.

She stiffened when he closed the distance between them and locked her against the wall.

"Repeat what you just said!"

He threatened, his eyes were bloodshot red. He wasn't in control.

Emerald took a deep breath; he was too close to her, and it was playing with her sanity.

"You shouldn't be offended by anything which happened tonight except my attempt to escape..."

She was trembling but she wasn't going to give up.

"You said that we don't have anything between us. That we are enemies."

She closed her eyes when he rubbed his side of his face with hers, spreading warmth in her body. He was invading her personal space.

"How does this anyhow imply that any other man can touch you?"

She froze at his question.

She was speechless for a moment.

"Egon, I___"

She moaned when he squeezed her waist and jerked her hips towards his.

"I don't care!"

She blurted out in frustration.

His hand snaked into her hair and fisted tightly, making her look into his eyes.

"You shouldn't be so brave when you are in trouble, Emerald."

He gritted.

Her eyes watered.

"I don't care, you are playing with me... I'll do whatever I want, I will go with other men, I'll let them flirt with me, they will touch me..."

She flinched when he punched the wall beside her.

"Enough!"

He warned her.

She glared at him with her bloodshot watery eyes.

"I do not belong to you, King... I am no longer attached to you."

She gritted back.

He smirked, evilly. It wasn't a normal smirk, it was psychotic.

He was burning from inside, the memory of that man touching her was flashing in his mind and he was going crazier with each second.

"Let's stop lying to each other for one night..."

His hand ripped the back of her dress.

She closed her eyes and took a shaky breath

"Egon, you___"

"Shhh___"

He placed his lips on hers, not kissing her but blocking her words.

"I'll show you how much you belong to me and how much I owe you... You love to fuck with me, now it's my turn..."

She tried to push him away.

"You can't!"

She is still angry that he asked her to forget him. She wasn't going to give in.

He locked her hands behind as he inhaled her scent crazily.

"Egon___"

She sucked in breath when his lips tortured her neck, waves of pleasure sparked through her body.

She struggled to stop her moans and to push him away.

She couldn't even move because he was too strong for her.

He placed her on the table and grabbed her neck, she struggled to breathe as he kissed her deeply. Sucking the soul out of her.

It was desperation of so many days, denial of desire which was coming out like a pour.

The heat was crazy.

The urge to punish each other was intense.

Emerald scratched on his shoulder, so hard that he started bleeding but she was still unsure if she wanted to pull him closer or push him away.

She didn't want to give in after whatever he said to her. She wasn't ready to give herself to him after the rejection and heartbreak.

It was hurting when he said that she doesn't matter to him anymore, she was breaking.

But they are in this situation now, he has gone crazy because she let another man touch her, and this madness satisfied her somewhere.

He was in the same shit which he put her through.

This is what she wanted, this is what was supposed to happen. Why would one burn when both deserve it? She pulled him into the same fire.

He was eating her face when his hand slid under her dress and grabbed her butt. She was jerked forward and his hardness touched her core.

She tried to control herself, but it was impossible after being so close to him; she wanted him with the same passion and desire.

She kissed him back with the same intensity and he ripped her entire dress off.

She knows that she is going to regret it later, but for now, she wants to burn with him, burn till there are only ashes between them.

  • Ashes Between Us!   89. Survivors!

Author's POV Egon held her like a man who had been starving for years and finally had something warm in his arms again. His arms tightened around her lazy morning frame, almost too tightly, as if she might dissolve into thin air the second he loosened his grip.“To be honest,” his voice came out low, a confession dragged straight from the center of his chest, “I thought you would never accept me again.”His thumb brushed her waist in slow circles — a habit he developed long before, one that never truly died.“I still don’t feel deserving of you,” he admitted, the words cracking slightly, “even though I’m selfish enough to not let you go.”Emerald’s answer came not through words at first, but through the way she burrowed even closer, nuzzling into the warmth of him like she was trying to sink into his bones. There was no fear, no hesitation — just a quiet, hungry comfort she had missed far more than she had expected.“I was in the same dilemma,” she murmured. She tilted her head to me

  • Ashes Between Us!   88. Twisted Memories!

Author's POV Rafael had been too calm-too smug-when he asked her, "Are you ready to meet the real you?"There was something hidden behind that tone... something sharp, something calculated. Emerald should have protested. She should have pushed back. But at that moment, she was willing to walk into fire if it meant finding out who she really was.Rafael placed a naked sword on the table.A heavy, gleaming blade with a history soaked into its metal."Seen one of these before?" he asked, eyes gleaming with mischief. "Wanna touch?"Emerald's brows pulled together. She knew that question wasn't innocent. Nothing Rafael did was ever innocent. But the curiosity inside her was louder than the warning bells. She stepped forward and traced a finger along the blade-slowly, thoughtfully. She couldn't imagine the things Rafael had used this sword for.She wasn't sure she wanted to imagine."Ohh... who do we have here?"The voice behind her made her turn sharply.Another man stood there. Strikingl

  • Ashes Between Us!   87. The Love!

Author's POV The ocean was about to witness their reunion again.Egon’s lips crashed onto hers with a hunger that had been rotting in his chest for far too long. It wasn’t a kiss — it was a claim, a scream, a desperate pull of two halves that had been cut apart and finally slammed back together. Emerald clutched his shirt with trembling fingers, dragging him impossibly closer, like she wanted to pull him under her skin.He groaned into her mouth, a raw, broken sound that betrayed every night he spent missing her. His body pressed into hers as the waves curled around them, cool on their skin, nothing compared to the heat rising between them. Her hands cupped his jaw, fingers shaking as they memorised him again — the stubble, the sharp lines, the warmth that had once been her home.“Egon…” she whispered against his lips, breath trembling. He closed his eyes like her voice hurt him. “Say it again,” he murmured, forehead resting on hers. “I’ve forgotten how to breathe without it.”She di
