69. Teasing!

last update Dernière mise à jour: 2025-11-26 21:54:17

Author's POV

Emerald was set on the timeline, she would finish the whole world in a week and leave. She was so mad at him that she didn't want to see his face.

And her blood was boiling even more after he asked her to apologise. She was controlling herself from killing him.

Egon, on the other hand, was missing the attention he used to get from her. Her naughty stalking and flirting used to make him excited but now everything is dull again when she is not paying attention to him.

He decided to mess with her to get a reaction from her. No matter what the reaction is, she looks even more sexy when she is mad at him. But he would be careful not to get slapped again because even though those hands are delicate, they sting a lot.

He went to check on the work, and she was working on a laptop while her team was painting walls. He sulked when she didn't look at him.

Emerald noticed him looking at her but didn't bother to acknowledge him.

Egon sighed and went to the gym, worked out, and came back again to check on them. This time he was shirtless, drenched in sweat and looking like a Greek god. He was standing by the door and the girls working there couldn't stop admiring him. They were literally fangirling.

"My god, he is so hot... I'll faint anytime now."

The girl breathed in dramatically.

"Is he single? I guess he is because I haven't seen any girl around here..."

The other girl said.

"Wow, he is looking like a wild fantasy... Why is he torturing us like this?"

"Exactly, right?... I can work here for life without getting paid..."

The other girl was in awe.

Egon heard whispers that were admiring him and smirked. He also knew that Emerald had also heard it, but she didn't look up from her laptop. Showing that she doesn't care anymore.

Egon wasn't going back without getting any reaction from her.

"Girls you need any help?"

He smirked mischievously.

Girls got excited when he acknowledged them.

"Can you help us carry this scaffolder there? It's heavy!"

"Of course, anyway, girls like you aren't made for this hard work."

He smirked at Emerald, who had stopped typing after listening to his flirting, but her eyes were still on the screen.

The girl squealed in excitement when he lifted the scaffolder, and his muscles flexed. They were drooling over him.

"You are so sweet, I don't know why people are so scared of you... Thank you so much!"

The girl said in awe.

Emerald couldn't understand why he was doing it. He wanted her to stop bothering him, and she did, so why was he wandering around her? She couldn't understand this man.

"Did you guys have lunch?"

He asked them.

"Not yet!"

The girl answered.

"Let's have it together then... You are working so hard, you deserve a treat!"

He smirked when Emerald finally looked up with a deep frown.

"Really, wow!"

They jumped excitedly.

"Let's go!... Emerald, aren't you hungry? Let's go!"

Emerald got up while fixing her jacket.

"I'll order my lunch... I don't trust a criminal with my food."

She glared at him and walked out of the room.

Girls looked at her shocked, Egon was smiling shamelessly. At least she said something. Something is better than nothing.

"Please don't mind her, she is always like this."

The girl said.

"Tell me about it!"

He sighed in daze and walked out.

Emerald couldn't understand his generosity in treating those girls, but her doubts cleared when the girls fell asleep after having a full meal. She tried to wake them up but they were knocked out for good.

It was clear that he did it on purpose.

"What a waste of the day?"

Egon mocked her.

"Your sister promised that today's work will be done on time? Is this your professionalism... The boss is hitting on me, and workers are sleeping during working hours."

Emerald took a deep breath, she knows that he was doing it on purpose, but didn't have proof to teach him a lesson.

"I'll call the other team..."

She grabbed her phone but he stopped her.

"I have said it before and am saying it again... Changing team, changes vision... Not approved!"

He smirked.

"Then what do you want? Do you want me to work here like labourers?"

She snapped at him and his smirk widened. She frowned.

"You are ridiculous, I am not doing it. Go to hell with your work!"

Egon shrugged and called someone.

"Ron, make sure Ruby doesn't get any projects___"

Emerald snatched his phone and disconnected the call.

"Fine, I am doing it... God! You are a monster. I hate you!"

Egon smiled in victory as she took off her jacket and tied her hair up. Emerald frowned at him when he sat in her place from where she supervised her team.

"You can leave me alone!"

He shook his head.

"I don't trust you with my house... I'll supervise you!"

She sighed, frustrated, and cursed silently while grabbing the paintbrush. Egon lay on the couch while watching her work. He was enjoying the scene.

Her frustrated and angry face, an annoyed splash of colour on the wall, and she was slapping the brush on the wall like she was slapping him.

She tried to get the scaffolder but then realised that one leg of it was broken.

"What's wrong with it, it was fine in the morning..."

She looked at Egon, who was watching her innocently, and she realised he did it on purpose.

"What's wrong with you? What do you want?"

He smirked.

"Apology!"

"Not working. Try something else!"

She folded her hands over her chest stubbornly.

"Something else?"

He got up and she stepped back, not knowing what he was going to do.

  • Ashes Between Us!   89. Survivors!

Author's POV Egon held her like a man who had been starving for years and finally had something warm in his arms again. His arms tightened around her lazy morning frame, almost too tightly, as if she might dissolve into thin air the second he loosened his grip.“To be honest,” his voice came out low, a confession dragged straight from the center of his chest, “I thought you would never accept me again.”His thumb brushed her waist in slow circles — a habit he developed long before, one that never truly died.“I still don’t feel deserving of you,” he admitted, the words cracking slightly, “even though I’m selfish enough to not let you go.”Emerald’s answer came not through words at first, but through the way she burrowed even closer, nuzzling into the warmth of him like she was trying to sink into his bones. There was no fear, no hesitation — just a quiet, hungry comfort she had missed far more than she had expected.“I was in the same dilemma,” she murmured. She tilted her head to me

  • Ashes Between Us!   88. Twisted Memories!

Author's POV Rafael had been too calm-too smug-when he asked her, "Are you ready to meet the real you?"There was something hidden behind that tone... something sharp, something calculated. Emerald should have protested. She should have pushed back. But at that moment, she was willing to walk into fire if it meant finding out who she really was.Rafael placed a naked sword on the table.A heavy, gleaming blade with a history soaked into its metal."Seen one of these before?" he asked, eyes gleaming with mischief. "Wanna touch?"Emerald's brows pulled together. She knew that question wasn't innocent. Nothing Rafael did was ever innocent. But the curiosity inside her was louder than the warning bells. She stepped forward and traced a finger along the blade-slowly, thoughtfully. She couldn't imagine the things Rafael had used this sword for.She wasn't sure she wanted to imagine."Ohh... who do we have here?"The voice behind her made her turn sharply.Another man stood there. Strikingl

  • Ashes Between Us!   87. The Love!

Author's POV The ocean was about to witness their reunion again.Egon’s lips crashed onto hers with a hunger that had been rotting in his chest for far too long. It wasn’t a kiss — it was a claim, a scream, a desperate pull of two halves that had been cut apart and finally slammed back together. Emerald clutched his shirt with trembling fingers, dragging him impossibly closer, like she wanted to pull him under her skin.He groaned into her mouth, a raw, broken sound that betrayed every night he spent missing her. His body pressed into hers as the waves curled around them, cool on their skin, nothing compared to the heat rising between them. Her hands cupped his jaw, fingers shaking as they memorised him again — the stubble, the sharp lines, the warmth that had once been her home.“Egon…” she whispered against his lips, breath trembling. He closed his eyes like her voice hurt him. “Say it again,” he murmured, forehead resting on hers. “I’ve forgotten how to breathe without it.”She di
