Author's POV

"I am his sister!"

Arabella declared, and Emerald froze in Egon's arms.

Egon smirked at her face as realisation hit her.

"You said she is your girlfriend..."

"I never said that, I said I have a girl... You shouldn't assume things."

He shrugged.

Emerald glared at him, making a mental note to teach him a good lesson later.

"I am sorry, I misunderstood, but it's clearly someone else's fault."

She apologised to Arabella.

"I can see that!"

Arabella smiled it off.

Emerald glared at Egon and stabbed the egg in his plate as she started eating.

"I am hungry!"

Egon watched her, amused as she refused to get up from his lap. She thought his thighs would hurt if she sat there for breakfast, but only if she knew that she was like a feather to him.

He played with her hair as he talked to Arabella.

"How is your baby?"

"Healthy! He is more fond of his fathers than me, he wouldn't even realise that I am gone."

She chuckled.

Emerald frowned when she heard fathers. She looked at Arabella confused.

"I am married to two men, Emerald... Two mafia brothers, if that clears your confusion."

Emerald raised her eyebrows amused.

"Wow!"

She looked at Egon.

"You allowed!"

"I tried my best to stop her..."

He sighed.

"I wish I could get the person who made the rule that mafia twins can marry one woman. I swear to Lucifer, he will see hell."

Arabella chuckled.

"No doubt!"

They went to work after that.

Emerald started her work. Today, she was in a good mood because the reason for her worry was not real.

She never thought that Egon could mess with her like this. She should have known that he would do anything to draw a reaction from her.

She is pissed, but a different kind of pissed; she is not hating him anymore.

"Emerald, why are you smiling? I am telling you the problem!"

Her worker brought her back to reality.

She cleared her throat, not realising she was completely lost, and didn't even hear her speaking.

"Ohh, sorry. What problem?"

"The colour which was approved for the living room is out of stock."

She got worried.

"Then ask the vendor to deliver it. Why are you in panic?"

Emerald shrugged in obvious.

"You think we haven't done that. Vendor is also out of the colour."

She informed.

"We have multiple vendors!?"

Emerald raised her eyebrows.

"Yeah, but the shipment comes from China and it's delayed. The container is stuck in the ocean."

She groaned frustrated.

"What do we do now? We are supposed to finish it by tomorrow, Egon will kill us."

"Not sure of that, but he will definitely get the chance to mock me."

She started biting her nails.

"There should be some alternative."

She called some new vendors, and the paint was scheduled to be delivered tomorrow. She didn't have a reason to justify the delay; there was a lack of proper planning. He would love to put her in more trouble to have fun.

"Why are you guys so stressed?"

Arabella questioned when she saw them while passing by.

"Big boss problem? Maybe I can help."

Emerald hesitated but she had no choice.

"We fucked up!"

She told her the problem.

"Somehow we have to delay it, but Egon shouldn't know this is delayed, but also we can't hide that we are delaying... You are getting me, right?"

Arabella raised her eyebrows amused.

"Got it! Maybe I have a solution for it. Play along!"

She whispered and Emerald frowned when Arabella's tone turned rude.

"What do you mean these girls can't join?... I was being polite to invite you all and you are so disrespectful. Is this how you please your clients?"

"What?"

Emerald was still confused and Arabella was sounding too bossy.

"Do you know that I can fire you guys, right?"

She threatened.

"What's wrong?"

Egon walked towards them when he heard the noise. He hadn't seen Arabella so pissed, and tension between her and Emerald is the last thing he wants.

"Ara?"

His sister huffed dramatically.

"Sorry, Egon but this woman is too fucking disrespectful... I am out of this!"

She started leaving.

"Wait! Will you tell me what's wrong?"

He stopped her and looked at Emerald.

"What did you do?"

Emerald shrugged.

"Ask your sister!"

"I want to have a pool party. It's been so long since I have done that... I just want some company, and these girls were excited, but she refused it... She doesn't care about people at all... So rude!"

Arabella complained.

"She doesn't even know what customer experience is. How can you hire such a company?"

Emerald realised what she was trying to do so she got along.

"Listen, girl, I am here to change your house. Not here to have lunch dates and parties with you guys. I don't know which company does that... Your brother wants this work done on time and also wants us to waste time with you guys; you guys are the worst clients I have ever had."

"See!"

Arabella looked at Egon.

Egon scratched his chin, he was stuck between two cats.

"You go prepare for the party, they will come!"

Arabella gave Emerald a mocking look, and she rolled her eyes.

"Work won't be done by tomorrow then!"

She declared.

"Right now, Arabella matters the most..."

He declared and walked away.

Girls gave hifi to each other happily.

"See, problem solved... You don't have to work and can enjoy too..."

Arabella flipped her hair.

"Thanks, girl!... You literally saved me!"

Emerald sighed in relief.

"So what are you wearing at the pool?"

Arabella chuckled.

"Nahh, I am not ready interested in pool parties. I'll just watch you guys from the bench."

She waved off.

"Are you sure? I think it's good for you, anyway, Egon doesn't like women in bikinis."

She started walking away.

"Wait!"

Emerald stopped her.

"Then I need one hot pair!"

Arabella smirked.

"As you wish!"

She knew that she would agree just to piss off Egon.

Egon was working and frowned when he heard faint music through his window. He looked out of the window from the first floor and saw girls enjoying themselves by the pool.

But, dropping his jaw, was Emerald, who was in a sexy black bikini, hardly hiding anything. His blood started boiling when he noticed that guards were also there for security.

He went downstairs when he saw Emerald coming inside to answer the call. She gasped, and the phone in her hand slipped when he pulled her away from the eyes of the people.

"What the fuck is wrong with you?"

She groaned at him.

He caged her against the wall and placed his hands on her bottom knots.

"What the hell are you wearing?"

He gritted and she was loving the jealousy on his face.

"A bikini, people usually wear this at the pool. If you don't know!"

She smirked.

"People are watching!"

He was pissed.

"People look at me, get over it!"

She tried to walk away.

"No, they can't watch what's mine."

He pressed against her and she could feel his hardness on her belly.

"I don't see anything here which belongs to you."

She replied but her voice was nervous. He was too close.

He smirked.

"You will learn soon... This beautiful face is mine."

His knuckles caressed her cheek.

"This treasure is mine"

She took a deep shaky breath when he touched her breast, gently but dominatingly.

"And this little vixen belongs to me."

She turned red when he rested his hand on her thigh. There was a separation of only a pair of clothes between them.

She gasped when he released the knot of her bottom.

  • Ashes Between Us!   89. Survivors!

Author's POV Egon held her like a man who had been starving for years and finally had something warm in his arms again. His arms tightened around her lazy morning frame, almost too tightly, as if she might dissolve into thin air the second he loosened his grip.“To be honest,” his voice came out low, a confession dragged straight from the center of his chest, “I thought you would never accept me again.”His thumb brushed her waist in slow circles — a habit he developed long before, one that never truly died.“I still don’t feel deserving of you,” he admitted, the words cracking slightly, “even though I’m selfish enough to not let you go.”Emerald’s answer came not through words at first, but through the way she burrowed even closer, nuzzling into the warmth of him like she was trying to sink into his bones. There was no fear, no hesitation — just a quiet, hungry comfort she had missed far more than she had expected.“I was in the same dilemma,” she murmured. She tilted her head to me

  • Ashes Between Us!   88. Twisted Memories!

Author's POV Rafael had been too calm-too smug-when he asked her, "Are you ready to meet the real you?"There was something hidden behind that tone... something sharp, something calculated. Emerald should have protested. She should have pushed back. But at that moment, she was willing to walk into fire if it meant finding out who she really was.Rafael placed a naked sword on the table.A heavy, gleaming blade with a history soaked into its metal."Seen one of these before?" he asked, eyes gleaming with mischief. "Wanna touch?"Emerald's brows pulled together. She knew that question wasn't innocent. Nothing Rafael did was ever innocent. But the curiosity inside her was louder than the warning bells. She stepped forward and traced a finger along the blade-slowly, thoughtfully. She couldn't imagine the things Rafael had used this sword for.She wasn't sure she wanted to imagine."Ohh... who do we have here?"The voice behind her made her turn sharply.Another man stood there. Strikingl

  • Ashes Between Us!   87. The Love!

Author's POV The ocean was about to witness their reunion again.Egon’s lips crashed onto hers with a hunger that had been rotting in his chest for far too long. It wasn’t a kiss — it was a claim, a scream, a desperate pull of two halves that had been cut apart and finally slammed back together. Emerald clutched his shirt with trembling fingers, dragging him impossibly closer, like she wanted to pull him under her skin.He groaned into her mouth, a raw, broken sound that betrayed every night he spent missing her. His body pressed into hers as the waves curled around them, cool on their skin, nothing compared to the heat rising between them. Her hands cupped his jaw, fingers shaking as they memorised him again — the stubble, the sharp lines, the warmth that had once been her home.“Egon…” she whispered against his lips, breath trembling. He closed his eyes like her voice hurt him. “Say it again,” he murmured, forehead resting on hers. “I’ve forgotten how to breathe without it.”She di

  • Ashes Between Us!   86. She is back!
