CHAPTER 9

RAGNAR

She stepped back into the room like a frightened deer. Her eyes were wide, her shoulders stiff. She thought putting more distance between us would save her.

It wouldn’t.

A smile curved on the corner of my lips as I continued watching her like a predator with his prey. It wasn't a soft smile. It was the usual slow, sharp one that could make anyone freeze. And she was freezing. I could smell her fear even through the sweet perfume the maid had poured on her. Her beautiful ice blue eyes kept on widening and I feared it was going to come out of the socket. Her hands trembled beside her and I smiled liking it.

Yes be scared of me Amara because you have no idea what I'm capable of. I'm the devil after you, and I won't leave you alone till you've given me what I want.

I let the silence stretch before I spoke. “Do you know,” I said, my voice low, “what you’re carrying inside you?”

Her sweet sensuous lips pressed tight, narrowing her eyes at me as she refused to answer. This one was as I expected. She was fire and ice but I'm her worst nemesis – water. I'd douche every bit of fire in her until she was bowing to my whims. Yes, I like challenges.

I tilted my head, studying her the more. “Do you?”

Nothing.

I chuckled under my breath, amazed at her will. “You’re stubborn. And you know what, I like that.” I leaned back in my chair. “Do you know anything about your power?”

Her gaze was steady now, sharp even. She was watching me the way a wolf watches a stranger in its territory—silent, calculating. Like every move she makes counts on how she might escape.

But you won't be escaping Amara, you're mine and mine forever.

“You have no idea,” I continued ignoring the urge to deal with this little mouse until she understood what obedience is.

Still no answer.

I leaned forward, resting my elbows on my knees. My voice dropped lower. “Your bloodline,” I said slowly, “is the key to something far greater than you imagine.”

Her brow furrowed. And I knew I got her. She was going to open that silly mouth of hers now. “What does that mean?”

I smiled faintly. “So you can talk?" I taunted fixing a cool-levelled stare on her. "When it’s time, you’ll get more answers.”

She shifted her weight, her fists curling slightly. I could see the questions burning in her head, but she didn’t speak them.

I straightened up. “Until then, don’t think about escaping. My guards will be watching for you. They have one order—to bring you back if you run. And if you try to escape, they'll be on your ass. And when they do…” I paused, letting the silence do the work. “…your punishment will be terrible.”

Her eyes flickered. I needed no soothsayer to inform me she was still going to try to escape. And I'd be ready to punish her for it.

“If you value your life,” I continued, “you’ll comply. You’ll follow my orders. You’ll be an obedient girl. If you do that, we’ll get along just fine.”

She stared at me for a long moment, then asked, “What about the other girls in the cell? What will you do to them?”

Ohhh, isn't my little mouse a darling. Just one night she made friends with the other girl's, and the bond grew to the extent of her looking out for them. “Dint worry you'll get to see them more often because they’ll be working in the strip club just like you.”

Confusion flashed across her face. “Working in the strip what… just like me? What's that supposed to be?”

I feigned surprise. “Ohh… you don’t understand.” I sat back, resting one arm over the side of my chair. “Let me break it down for you. Your new life begins in my underground club… a place of darkness, submission, and seduction.”

Her eyes widened slightly.

I grinned. Not the kind of grin that comes from joy, but the one that comes from knowing you have complete control. Ah yes, I've got control over my little mouse. She was in my grasp and free to give me the death stare and rebel against me but i won't be releasing her

I stood and stepped toward her. “Walk with me,” I said, stretching out my hand.

She hesitated. Her eyes moved from my hand to my face and back again. I could see the war in her mind.

After a long moment, she placed her hand in mine. I patted the back of it slowly. “Good girl.”

I led her out of the room, my hand firm around hers. The hallway was quiet except for the echo of our steps. The guards posted at each corner straightened as we passed.

“You’ll be treated specially here,” I told her. “This is my palace. And you are mine. No one will dare touch you… unless you misbehave.”

She didn’t speak. She kept her gaze forward, her lips tight.

We stopped in front of a heavy wooden door. I opened it and guided her inside.

The room was simple but large, with a wide bed pushed against the wall, a small table, and a wardrobe. A single window lets in weak daylight.

“This is your room,” I nodded. “You’re entitled to the kitchen. Eat whatever you want. I want you healthy… and beautiful… for when you climb the stage.”

Her head snapped toward me. She didn’t say anything, but I saw her throat move as she swallowed. Does she only talk when the matter is so important? Or when she's confused and needs to clear it? Or was she doing it intentionally to step on my nerves?

I stepped closer. “Rest now. You’ll be woken later.”

I turned to leave. At the doorway, I paused. My hand moved before she could step back.

A quick, hard smack landed across her ass. She gasped, spinning to look at me. She glared at me furiously but the shocked expression was still all over her face.

I smirked over my shoulder. “Get used to it.”

Then I walked out, leaving her standing there in the silence.

Chapter 44Marek’s POVI couldn’t take it anymore. I had waited long enough for that useless investigator. I called him again and again, but he didn’t answer. Not one word. No call back. No message. Nothing. Days had passed, and still no update. I kept thinking—what if Kaine was my brother? What if all this time I had been trying to destroy someone who shared the same blood with me?And that was exactly the reason I needed the son-of-a-bitch answers. If he had something that could throw more light into what Elena said, that might be helpful. I didn't want to feel guilty if I ended up killing Kaine and then later found out he was my blood. I'd hate myself forever. Yes, he was my rival and we've done terrible things to each other but killing each other, to be honest, wasn't really in my agenda. And even though he was my brother doesn't mean we won't still be rivals. He did me dirty, he betrayed me and lost all right to still be my brother and friend. But then, I shook the thought off. N

CHAPTER 43Marek’s POVI sat there staring at the screen with the remote in my hands as I contemplated listening to Elena's order. Why would she ask me to turn the TV on? Was something interesting happening that I know nothing of? But surprisingly my heart was beating fast.Elena’s voice still echoed in my ears. “Turn on the news,” she had said. The way she said it… it wasn’t normal. It wasn’t just a comment. It felt like a warning. Or maybe a threat. Or maybe something was going to happen and it concerned me. And she wanted me to see it.I dropped my phone on the table without even looking at it again, shaking the thought of calling her to ask what she meant. I didn’t want to hear her voice anymore. I picked up the remote and turned the volume up. The news channel was already talking. The headline running across the screen made my eyes go

CHAPTER 42STEFAN I returned to the pack with Kai. I kept thinking about the warehouse that burned and Ravenna's mysterious part in it. As we passed the common room, the sound of moaning reached my ears. The smell of sex filled the air. I wrinkled my nose. The common room belonged to my group. I wanted to walk past quickly. But then I heard my name. “Alpha! Come in! Join us!”Their voices echoed from inside.I muttered, “Not in the mood,” and tried to keep walking. Before I could escape, Kai grabbed my wrist. “Come on,” he said with a grin. “Don’t act cold. You need to clear your thoughts from your head.”I shook my head. “Not tonight.”But he pulled harder, and I stumbled into the room.Inside, the scene hit me like a punch. The group was naked, sprawled out across the bed. Moans mixed with growls. Flesh slapped against flesh. Ashanti knelt on the floor, her lips wrapped around Philip’s cock. Teesha and Leerie scissored each other, their cries loud. Kane thrust into Helene, gripping

Chapter 41Malakai POVI reached the outskirt of the strange land and slowed my steps. The air here was heavy, almost thick enough to choke me. Woods stretched endlessly in every direction, the trees tall and shadowed, their branches like claws trying to rip the sky. Beyond them rose mountains, steep and rough, and I could see cliffs dropping into nothingness. The place felt wrong. It felt like no map could hold it.I adjusted the strap of the bag in my hand and scanned ahead. A man was standing not far from me, arms folded, waiting like he had known the exact moment I would arrive. His stance was calm, but there was a sharpness in his eyes that made me uneasy.“You must be Ryder,” I said, more as a statement than a question. My voice carried across the stillness. The man nodded once, his face unreadable. “Yes. Follow me.”I frowned. No greeting. No smile. No explanation. Just an order. My instinct told me to turn back, but I forced my feet forward.“What is this place?” I asked as I w

Chapter 40STEFAN I grabbed the vase from the side of the table and threw it hard at the window. Glass shattered and rained down, leaving part of the frame broken, but I didn’t care. I didn’t feel the cut on my hand or the ache in my chest. All I felt was fire. A fire burning me from the inside. My anger was too much. It had eaten me alive.I paced the room like a beast, chest heaving. My breath came out sharp. For the past hour, I had been like this —destroying my room and breaking whatever my hands could reach, tables, shelves and lamps. The floor was covered in broken glass and wood. My knuckles bled, but I didn’t stop. I couldn’t stop. The call from Ace still rang in my head. His frantic voice and words about the warehouse burning. At first I thought it was a lie. A bad joke. But when I rushed down, my worst fear became true. Smoke filled the air, thick and black. Flames rose to the sky. My warehouse, goods and everything I had stored were swallowed whole by the mysterious fire.

CHAPTER 39RAVENNA I sat by the bed, wiping my mother’s forehead with a damp cloth. Her breath came weak, her chest rising slow. The sickness had drained her strength these past days, and I felt the weight of it pressing on me. The room was quiet except for the sound of her shallow breaths. She has been going from bad to worse despite everything I'd try to make her feel better. But it seems Amara had taken a part of her and disappeared. I never knew she loved Amara not until she went into hiding or got missing rather I dipped the cloth into the bowl again, squeezed it, and pressed it gently against her skin.“Mother,” I whispered, though I wasn’t sure she heard me. I wasn't used to all these works and certainly wasn't this close to my mother, and so it was difficult for me.A sudden knock broke the silence. “Enter,” I answered looking up with a friend etched on my face. The door creaked open, and my maid-spy stepped inside. Her eyes darted around before settling on me. She looked tr
