Chapter 36

Chris laid on the bed in Sydney's room, drenched in sweat. His limbs, leaden, felt as though encased in metal and the painful flow of wolfsbane burned in his veins like acid. His eyes rolled to Benjamin, who sat on the edge of the bed like a vulture waiting for its prey to die. An evil grin played across his lips as he raised a syringe, its contents a deadly shade of green.

"Dad, that's enough already." Sydney was standing beside the shelf. "You've already given him countless shots of wolfsbane anymore and you're going to kill him." He said.

Benjamin's face twisted in a sneer. "If I wanted him dead, I would have done it already," he hissed, pressing the needle against Chris's arm and Chris felt the sharp pierce on his skin. Tears rolled down as he shut his eyes close, anticipating the worst. But what he heard was a crash across the room.
