“Excuse me, I need to use the restroom,” she said, rising from her chair.

“Do you need help?” Aaron asked, standing as well.

“No, I’ll be fine.” She forced a smile.

“Alright then,” he said, sitting back down.

As she walked away, she glanced over her shoulder and caught Alexander’s intense stare. His eyes burned with jealousy. Quickly, she looked away, her heels clicking faster against the marble floor.

Thankfully, the restroom was empty when she entered. In frustration, she kicked the trash can, sending papers and tissues fluttering across the floor.

“Ouch!” she cried, wincing at the pain shooting up her leg. She rubbed her calf, muttering, “Damn you, Alexander. Why did you have to show up today, of all days?”

She mimicked his voice bitterly, “‘What else do you know she’s involved in?’”

Kenzie knew exactly what he was planning, he wanted to expose her secret in front of Aaron and Alisha.

She realized she’d been gone too long; they were probably expecting her back.

Mackenzie’s eyes widened as reality snapped back into place. She shoved Alexander away and hopped down from the counter, her hands trembling as she straightened her dress, deliberately avoiding his gaze.“Kenzie? Are you in there? Can you hear me?”The voice cut through the restroom door, sharp and urgent.Shouts echoed from outside—people were looking for her. Her heart pounded as she rushed to the door, breathing hard like she’d just run a marathon. She pulled it open and froze.Aaron stood there. And beside him, Alisha.Panic laced Aaron’s voice. “Kenzie, are you okay? Did something happen?”“Yes… no. I’m fine.” Her voice quivered as she refused to meet their eyes.“Have you seen Alex?” Alisha asked, craning her neck to peer into the restroom.Alexander.Shit.What if they found out they’d both been in there? The thought sent a fresh wave of dread through her—questions, suspicions, raised eyebrows. When Mackenzie noticed Alisha moving toward the restroom, she shot her hand out and

“You look stunning,” Aaron said for what felt like the hundredth time, pulling out her chair for her. They were at a restaurant, and he hadn’t stopped complimenting her all through the drive there.“Thank you,” she replied with a smile as she sat down. “And you look handsome too.”“You don’t have to say that,” he chuckled , moving to sit across from her. There was no denying Aaron’s looks—his jet-black hair was neatly brushed and parted down the middle, and his jawline had a perfect curve.“I mean it, you really are handsome,” she said softly. His cheek flush “Alright, enough with the compliments. Let’s eat, I’m starving,” he said, raising a hand to call the waiter.“Two medium-rare steaks and a bottle of white champagne,” he ordered.“Right away, sir,” the waiter replied with a polite bow before heading off.“So, what brings you to this city?” she asked while they waited.“Work. I was transferred unexpectedly, and that’s how I ended up here,” he replied.“Really? What kind of work do

~Alexander~“Miss Davis, I didn’t expect you to have such a reputation,” Alexander said, raising his brows as he removed his helmet. They were at the Mega City site, checking the progress of the construction.“What? Surprised that the woman you spent a night with actually holds a place in society?” Alisha smirked. His lips curved slightly at the mention of one night. Alisha was the woman he had recently shared that night with, and the realization still caught him off guard.“Did you already know, or did you just find out?” he asked.“I got curious about you after that night of passion. When I looked up your profile, my curiosity grew even more. You know what they say, curiosity killed the cat.” She stepped closer, closing the space between them. Her fingers brushed against his skin as she fixed his messy hair. “Perfect now,” she murmured.“One night of passion? At least you recognize it was only that—just one night. Miss Davis, let’s keep things professional. Don’t get any other ideas

  • BEHIND HER MASK    ALISHA

It was barely past eight, and the city was already humming with traffic. She stared outside the window as she sat in the car.Her first schedule of the day was picking the external architect from the city's hall. That gave her enough room to avoid Alexander this morning. The official vehicle pulled to the entrance of the city hall entrance. Step out of the vehicle. She scanned the entrance, and she spotted her. Alisha Davis, the external architect. Slender figure, effortlessly styling in tailored blazer and pencil skirt. Her blonde hair was packed in a high ponytail. Quite an impressionAlisha's hip swayed as she confidently walked towards Mackenzie. “You must be the escort,” She said, her voice calm but commanding.“Mackenzie Jordans, Mr. Gracias’ secretary.” She introduced herself. Ignoring Alisha assumption.“Save that for later,” Alisha was plain rude. “Get the box” she added, pointing at it.She clenched her fists as she tried to suppress the anger in her. Firstly she was assum

  • BEHIND HER MASK    GENTLEMAN

~Mackenzie~She couldn’t believe she hadn’t seen through Alexander’s schemes sooner, falling so easily for his pathetic game.Instead of hailing a cab, she chose to walk home, hoping the fresh air would help clear her head. But the anger burning inside her refused to ease, and even the city’s atmosphere did little to calm her nerves.“Hey,” a voice called out just as she reached the entrance of her apartment building. She turned her head and spotted the man she had seen that morning, still carrying a box in his hands.“Hello…” she greeted softly, stepping aside to let him through.“You remember me now?” he asked with a smile as he bent down to set the box on the ground. Her eyes involuntarily drifted to his firm, well-shaped backside as he crouched. Heat rushed through her at the thought of how it might feel beneath her touch. She quickly scolded herself—she had no business entertaining such thoughts.“Nope, I still don’t know. Care to share?” she asked.“Aaron,” he said, introducing
