Lucas’s POV

I stepped out of the café, the cool breeze brushing past my face like it was trying to wake me up from a dream I didn’t remember falling into.

But it wasn’t a dream.

It was real.

Eva. Her trembling hands. The way her eyes refused to hold mine too long. Her voice, soft and rehearsed, telling me that Jude was Henry’s child. Like she wanted so badly to believe it herself that saying it out loud would make it true.

But something in me refused to accept it. Not completely. Not when the timelines overlapped. Not when I knew what we had done.

The last time we were together, it wasn’t just a mistake. It wasn’t just one of those reckless moments people chalk up to weakness. It was raw. Real. There was no protection. No second thoughts. Only heat, desperation, and regret waiting for us the next morning.

And now there’s a child.

A boy.

Jude.

I said his name in my mind, over and over again like a mantra.

Jude.

I stopped on the sidewalk, ignoring the honk of a passing car. My hands dug

  • BETRAYAL GAME: HIS BOSS, MY OBSESSION    SECRETS DELIVERED

Eva’s POVI woke up before dawn, hours before the world stirred. The stale chill of the morning air crept into the room. I felt heavy, like someone had packed grief and guilt into my chest while I slept. From the corner of my eye, my gaze caught on the empty space where Henry used to sleep. The sheets were cold, untouched, as if they never held warmth.I closed my eyes and pressed my palms against them, hoping the weight would go away. But it did not. The pillow smelled like him—fresh, clean, a reminder of softness and safety. And I realized how much I missed it. His arms holding me through nightmares. Quiet mornings sipping coffee. Lazy afternoons wrapped in blankets. The tenderness he showed me every day. That tenderness had once been everything. Now it felt like the ghost of something I could never have again.I rolled over and stared at the ceiling. Regret crept through my bones. My mind drifted back to that night at the gala. The lights were bright and the music was loud. I remem

  • BETRAYAL GAME: HIS BOSS, MY OBSESSION    THE STORM GATHERING

Eva’s POVThe air in the house felt strangely light that morning. It had been a few days since Henry had left without much of a warning, and though I tried to keep busy—feeding Jude, folding his tiny clothes, wiping the same countertop over and over—the quiet unease never left me. I could still hear his last words ringing in my head, vague and loaded, like a warning cloaked in calm disappointment.I stood by the kitchen sink, staring at the stillness outside the window, the cup of untouched tea growing cold in my hands. The silence of our home felt like it was mocking me. Jude’s tiny laughter occasionally echoed from the living room where he played with his blocks, oblivious to the storm brewing in the lives of the adults around him.And then the door opened.I didn’t hear footsteps right away, just the faint click of the lock, and the soft creak of wood under careful steps. I turned around slowly, my heart fluttering like a trapped bird in my chest.“Henry?” I called, unsure if it wa

  • BETRAYAL GAME: HIS BOSS, MY OBSESSION    THE BREAKING POINT

Eva’s POVThe silence was unbearable. It wasn’t the comforting kind that comes after a long day, or the peaceful stillness of early dawn. No, this was the kind that screamed in your ears, thick with the echo of words unsaid and decisions hanging by a thread. It wrapped around me like a shroud, choking out air, clarity, and peace.Henry had left hours ago.He said he’d be gone for a few days. But something about the way he’d looked at me, his eyes filled with sorrow, not rage—made it feel like he’d taken more than just a suitcase with him. He had taken my last thread of normalcy.I hadn’t been able to sit still since he closed the door.Every sound in the house felt louder than usual: the ticking of the wall clock, the faint creak of the wooden floor when I paced back and forth, and the distant hum of traffic outside. I kept going over his words, dissecting each syllable, looking for the truth between the lines.Did he know? Was it just suspicion, or had he learned something? Had someo

  • BETRAYAL GAME: HIS BOSS, MY OBSESSION    THE SPACE BETWEEN

Eva’s POVMorning sunlight poured through the window, illuminating the room, but I felt no warmth. The morning was still, quiet—too quiet.I turned over in bed, my eyes heavy and unfocused, expecting to find Henry beside me. But the space was empty. The sheets were cold. My heart sank a little. The events of last night came rushing back like a heavy tide—his questions, his accusations, the pain in his eyes. He hadn’t yelled. He hadn’t even said the words I feared most. But it was there, lingering in the air between us like a storm cloud refusing to break. Before I could respond, the door opened gently, and Henry stepped inside, fully dressed—black jeans, a crisp charcoal button-down, and a lightweight jacket slung over his shoulder. A small carry-on suitcase rested by his side. He looked calm. Too calm.My heart stuttered. “Henry… are you going somewhere?”He didn’t answer right away.Instead, he walked over to the nightstand and placed his watch into his pocket. Then, finally, he loo

  • BETRAYAL GAME: HIS BOSS, MY OBSESSION    THE CALM BEFORE COLLAPSE

Eva’s POVThe silence in the house was unsettling. As I turned the knob and stepped inside, I half-expected Henry to be in the bedroom or watching some late-night news like he usually did. But the low clink of glass stopped me.It was coming from the bar.I turned slowly, my feet suddenly feeling heavier than usual, as though each step was weighed down by everything I was carrying—secrets, regrets, and the bitter taste of guilt still stuck in my throat.Henry stood at the small bar tucked into the corner of our living room, his back to me, pouring himself a drink. His posture was stiff, too still, too composed in that dangerous way that spoke volumes without saying anything at all. His hand tightened slightly around the neck of the whiskey bottle before setting it down with a soft thud. Then he lifted the glass to his lips, took a slow sip, and finally turned around. When his eyes met mine, I knew something was off.“Eva,” he said, voice cool—too cool. “How is my boss?”The words hit
