Chapter 4

( EVA’s POV )

I don't know why but I was feeling like some one is pushing me in a lake of fire. I was surrounded by fire. This just feels like I am going to die but I know this is all a dream. But why am I dreaming such things? And when I was about to die in my dream, I felt a hand on my hand and all of the fire disappeared. I was feeling sparks or jolts of pleasure. I felt calmness. I wanted to open my eyes but then I heard some voices.

“How could you do this? Do you even know the result of it? And how the hell did you let this happened?... she could have died....” but a growl stopped that man’s voice and then I heard a matching or even more powerful growl and he stopped.

“Don't you dare disrespect me Kane.” That man who was talking earlier snapped and I realised he is talking to Kane.

“It wasn’t me... It was...” he was still saying something but he took his hand of me and I was again surrounded by fire. I kept running and fighting and again got lost in the darkness of my dreams.

I again woke up and this time I was able to open my eyes and I regretted instantly. The room was really bright and I closed my eyes. After a minute I again opened my eyes and looked at my surroundings. I was in a same kind of white room but this smelt like hospital. Pack hospital... I turned to look around and I felt sharp pain on my neck. I placed my hand on my wounds instantly and I felt bandages. My whole neck is patched up. But why?

And then every thing came crushing to me. NO! Kane... he kidnapped me and then he marked me and I tried to teleport and my neck was ripped open by his canines. I was bleeding profusely.

How am I still alive? I thought I would die. We witches don't heal as quickly as werewolves do. Although we have some healer witches who are blessed with this kid of healing powers but I highly doubt they have one here. Every pack have a assigned witch for their protection and as witch queen I am the one who allow them and keep their record but I have never heard about this pack so I don't think there will be one here because if there was... I would have felt their presence or she would have felt mine.

Wait... I looked at my hands and realised I am not handcuffed. That is great. Now I can teleport. Yes.... I closed my eyes and pictured my throne room but I was pulled right back as I heard a familiar voice...

“Eva...!” how is this possible? Am I dreaming? I instantly opened my eyes and smiled brightly. I was right... I instantly tried to sat back in the bed and he came to my side and made me seat. And I smiled with my tears.

“Brother in law... thank god you came... Kane ... he...” I can't believe Alpha king and my sister’s mate and husband is here... Xavier is here...I was crying and I was having difficulty in breathing and he got a glass of water near my lips. I thankfully looked at him and drank a sip. My throat was still paining.

“Take small sips... your throat is still raw. It will stay like that for a day or two. You will have to eat soft diet for few days as well.” He said and I did as he said and he put the glass down and placed a table over my thighs and placed a bowl of broth which was not hot. I wiped my tears now and composed my self.

He nodded towards it and I understood. I have almost forgotten he is a doctor and the white coat that he was wearing reminded me that it must be him who saved my life. Of course... Kane trust him and he is really a good doctor. I slowly started to eat from the bowl... there were some chicken as well which I slowly started to chew. The pain was there but it was not that bad.

“Is it hurting?” he asked in a professional tone but I can hear the slight care and worry behind his stern emotionless voice.

“Yes... but not that much.” I said and he nodded. He is not known for more words but now that he is here... I am not that worried. In looks he is like a huge man with blue eyes and thick beard with a stern look permanent on his face but I know from his heart he is really a good man. I have always looked up to him. He and sis are perfect for each other. Sis... I miss her. Does she even know what is happening with me?

“Take this medicines now.” He took the table and placed the tablets and I swallowed them. Then I put the glass on the side table and he dragged a chair and sat there. It is still weird to see the big bad Alpha king here beside me. I know he and sis love each other but I have always never talked with him alone. He is a scary guy.

“How is sis? And Ayrah and Ajax?” I asked to remove awkwardness and there was a small glint that came in his eyes instantly. He loves sis and now the two little angels as well.

“They are fine. Both of my pups are growing really fast. My Moon is always after them... some times she even forgets me for that...” he said and there was an unpleased frown on his face and I smiled. I can't believe he is looking jealous of his own babies. He loves sis so much. And with that thought I am feeling envy... why can't I ever get that kind of love?

“Eva.... I know what is going on here. I have talked to Kane. He told me every thing and I am sorry on behalf of my best friend. He shouldn’t have done this to you.” He said Kane’s name and my blood boiled.

“Yes, he shouldn’t have done this... not to his own mate but he did and now I will leave from here and find a way to reject him as well. I am done with all this drama. I am fucking Witch Queen and he can't do this to me. He marked me with out my permission and I will make sure that he will pay for every bit of my pain.” I said with rage and he smiled. He was looking at me with adoration. What is going on?

“You remind me of my moon... when I first met her she was like this only.” He said with a smile and I smiled back.

“I am not even close to her. She is way stronger than me. She fought with you with swords and fire and look at me, he kidnapped me from my own Kingdome... he locked me and then he marked me and I still didn’t do anything. She was way stronger and I am not. All I did was crying... some thing sis would never do.” I said while a tear escaped my eye and I looked away from him.

“ Eva, your sis never said that crying was wrong. She had her reasons for not crying but as when she showed strength by not crying you showed strength while letting your tears out. Crying is not weakness. You fought... even when he was marking you... you fought with every thing you had and that shows courage. The girl who let her throat open but didn’t let him mark her forcefully.” He said and I was shocked.

“Wait... he did mark me... I felt the pack connections as well.” I said and he sighed.

“I don't know how but as your throat healed... the marking was gone as well. May be he never went through whole marking process.” He said and I was confused. Then I closed my eyes tried to find the pack links but it was not there. May be he is right. I healed... thank goddess.

“I need to talk to you about Kane... Eva you can leave if you want but first you should know the truth.” He said and I was confused. What is the truth?

“Do you remember the war we had in vampire Kingdome around three years ago?” he asked and I nodded and he stood up from the chair and went at the end of my bed.

“Do you remember what happened with Nadia there?” he asked and I nodded.

“She was the chosen mate of Kane. His first mate was Donna. She was his real mate. He met her years back but when he met her she was already mated to one of my warriors. He didn’t say this to any one and rejected her and she accepted that as well and he left her to live with her mate.  After that he met Nadia. Nadia was a doctor. She was good at her job and she had helped me a lot but her mate was a guard and he died in a rouge attack for which she blamed me. She wanted to take revenge from me but she didn’t do it directly.... she used Kane.” With that I can hear the anger in his voice.

“She betrayed him, used him for information and then sold gave it to vampires and the war happened. She has always kept her good and kind woman whose mate died image in front of every one and Kane fall for her. She was mate less and Kane was too and his wolf also agreed with him to make her his chosen mate. But it all went to gutter when she openly humiliated him and told him she has just used him. He was broken by her and she just smiled at his misery.” He sighed and sat in a corner.

“In the war... your sister was not in full control of her powers and her inner witch ordered Kane to kill Nadia. Even though Kane hated her but his heart was not allowing him to do that and seeing that Iris’s inner witch pulled his wolf out from him and let him have her head. His wolf tore from him and killed her. He bathed in her warm blood and then Iris put them back together.” He said and I looked at him. I already know all this. Why is he telling me this now?

“I was there even when you were not Alpha King. I know what has happened on that dreadful day but how does that matter to how he is behaving now? Or are you just trying to tell me that he has lost his two mates and I am his second chance mate by moon goddess so I just have to accept him?” I asked and he stood up and stood in the centre and looked at me.

“No, I am not trying to tell you that. After that war... Kane changed. My best friend who even let his own mate go because she has chosen some one else, do you really think he can kidnap his mate and try to forcefully mark her?” he said and I looked away. I know Kane was a nice man at that time but now it feels like he is not even there any more. I nodded in a no and he continued.

“Exactly. He can't do this. But after that day he changed. His heart was broken twice. For a werewolf living with out a mate I impossible and rejection kills you and your wolf and he faced that pain twice. When he got that pain first time... he became heart broken but when it happened again, he became heart less. And most important and major effect happened on his wolf.” He said and I was confused.

“His wolf.... Leon. He was the one who tried to mark you and Kane couldn’t control him. It was not Kane... he didn’t want to mark you forcefully but it was Leon and he couldn’t control him.” He said and I looked at him like he is talking non sense.

“That is not possible. How can he not control his own wolf? I know wolfs can be aggressive but I have never heard that some one can't control his own wolf even when he was almost killing his own mate.” I said and he just smiled at the irony.

“That is the point. He is not normal. When in the war Iris let his wolf completely out of him, his wolf tasted the power of freedom and probably some of Iris’s strength got connected to him as well. After that day, Kane changed and one time there was a small group of rouges which tried to break through our borders and he was there and he didn’t even realise and he shifted in his wolf and his wolf killed all of them.” He said and I gasped. Killing rouges is not their normal protocol. Mostly they take them to the cells and still if they found guilty and dangerous then only they kill them.

“Yes, after that he disappeared. I sent my man every where to search my beta but it was useless. And then after almost fifteen days he came back barely wearing any clothing. He was looking like he was in jungle and dirt for whole week. He told me that he couldn’t shift back for whole two week. For whole week his wolf had control of him which is unnatural for normal werewolves.” He said and I was shocked as well. They can't stay in wolf form for even few hours continuously and here he is saying that he was in that form for fifteen days. This is not normal. His human side should be powerful enough to make him come back.

“What happened then?” I asked and he sighed.

“After that he changed. His aura and power changed. He was looking more and more strong. I can feel his power growing and his wolf was constantly on the surface that at one point his wolf even tried to challenge me as Alpha king.” He said and my eyes widened. They both are like best friend. Kane worships Alpha king as his own brother. I can't believe his wolf tried to attack him, his own best friend.

“Yes. My wolf was furious at the disrespect and he wanted to kill him there and then but I stopped and I realised that his Alpha gene from the past was activated and now his wolf can't stay as beta any longer. So I decided to make him Alpha instead then only his wolf will respect me as king and won't try to challenge me as he will have his own alpha title as well.” He said and I nodded. So that is why he has his own pack.

“But then we needed people for who would want to accept him as their Alpha and then moon goddess heard us. At that time few rogues came to our border and we put them in prison and they told us how unfairly their Alpha and Luna threw them out of the pack and I told them if they would like Kane as their Alpha and they happily accepted.” He said and I smiled.

“Werewolf with out pack can go crazy. They all just wanted to live with a pack again and then I made Kane their Alpha. This land is really near to the Royal pack. It is like a neighbour. So I gave this land to him. It was all three years ago, then this place started to fill with more and more helpless rouges from all over the world and he made this pack which is the second largest pack now.” He completed and I smiled. I have always admired Kane as a good leader and now I admire him even more.

“That is so great but what did all this has to do with me? Why can't I leave?” I said and he looked at me with a look that was screaming that he wants to tell me more and I nodded.

“His wolf Eva. His wolf is getting day by day out of control. He will go feral if we won't stop this. His wolf has no trust on his human side. And my Kane is deeply heart broken after two betrayals. Leon doesn’t want him to win and Kane doesn’t want to win and in all of this his wolf is trying to get something which is not his...” he said and I looked at him with full of confusion.

“What?” I asked and he looked right in my eyes.

“Leon wants full control over Kane’s body now. He wants to control his human and wolf body as well. Kane is giving up the hope of living and Leon is taking over his body more and more.” He said and my eyes widened. This is not possible. I can't even imagine if my inner witch takes over then what will I do? We can't talk to our inner witch like were wolves can to their wolfs but still our powers taking over our body is only optional when we have life or death situation and that too to save our self other wise it is frowned up on.

“Then tell Kane to not let this happen. He is your best friend he will listen to you.” I said and he sighed.

“You don't think I tried. But he doesn’t care even if his wolf takes full control. We were arguing about the consequences and then you entered. His mate... his moon goddess blessed mate. His wolf first time in three years listened to you when you told him to give control back to Kane at your Kingdome. He told me and I really think that if you will stay close to him then you will definitely be able to tame his wolf and his wolf will listen to you and then Kane can again have full control of his wolf and his body as well.” He said and I rolled my eyes.

“That was just one time. Look at me Xavier... I am almost killed by his wolf. If your theory was true then this won't happen. His wolf won't let go of control for some eighteen year old girl.” I said and he huffed.

“Not some eighteen year old girl... his mate. And you don't know the power of mate bond Eva. It can melt even rocks and the example is right in front of you.” He said and I looked away. I know he and sis are the most mis fit couple still they proved the world and even them self wrong and fall in love with each other but I am no Iris... that won't happen for me and Kane. I am heart broken and he is just heart less.

“What do you want me to do Alpha king?” I just asked and he came closer to me and placed his hand near mine.

“A chance. Just few days... be with him. Leon might need you but I am requesting you for Kane. He is the one who needs you the most. My best friend is hurting a lot from last three years but now I want him to be happy and you are that happiness with which moon goddess has blessed him. He needs you as mate... this pack needs a Luna as well.” He said and I closed my eyes. He is telling me to stay here... how can I? After all that has happened. How can I just forget every thing and give him a chance, how?

“Does sis knows about all this?” I asked and he looked away. Not good!

“She was worried when you left on your birthday night. Even after two days when you didn’t contacted her she was worried. I was here once you got injured and I kept going back and forth and looking at her worried face I asked Kane to call her and he did and told her that he is your mate and he will keep you with him till the time you both understand and accept each other. She was reluctant but I made her understand.” He said and I nodded.

“Wait... for how many days I was out?” I asked as I remembered I fainted on my birthday morning only. Sis was worried after two days then for how long I am in the hospital.

“You were unconscious for three days. I stitched your wound and I gave you Kane’s blood. Mate’s blood heals the best. Then it took some time to make new blood in your system. So you were not waking up so I told Kane to call Iris.” He said and I nodded

“Sis won't sit quiet for long. She will find me by any means.” I said and he sighed.

“I know but I will try to stop her as long as I can. Right now for Leon you are his every thing and if any one will try to come between you and him then he will not stop before having their blood. Hell, he even barely let me treat you. I had to give him Alpha King order and Silver and wolf’s bane to stop him from surfacing.” He said and I sighed. This means if sis will come here, there is a chance he will attack sis as well. I won't let that happen. She just became mother, now her babies have right over her all time and I am not going to bother her at all with my problems.

“Keep her away from here. If she gets too worried let me know, I will talk to her on phone.” I said and he smiled.

“I always envy the bond you both sisters have. I don't have any real brother or sister but I consider Kane as one. I just want what is best for both of you.” He said and I smiled. He gave me some more medicines and explained me how to take them. Then he stood up to leave and looked at me again.

“I know this is not easy but all I am asking is just a try. May be you might save Kane and Leon both...” he said and I nodded.

“I will try brother in law.” I said and he gave me a small smile. He stood up and put his hand on my shoulder and looked at him.

“You are the Witch Queen and Luna of the second largest pack in the world. You are chosen by almighty goddess her self for this and I have full trust on your strength and you as well. If any one can get this stupid mutt on the right path is you only. Don't ever bow down to him. As your sister says...

 A Queen doesn’t bow down to any one not even her king. Because All have to bow down to her and she just allows one to stand, and that one man has the right to call him self her King.

I am not only telling you to be his Luna but I am also telling you to make him your witch King...” he said and I smiled. Sis and her words!

He went to door and stopped right in his steps as I asked him what I wanted to ask since I saw him.

“How is Daniel doing? Is he ok?” I said and his back stiffened. He turned around and looked right in my eyes and there was one emotion that I hate the most... pity!
