DOMINIC
“So, is that everything about her?” Dominic asked, not looking up from the file on his desk. Scorpion..real name Raymond..stood across from him, arms crossed behind his back. People in the underworld feared him too, not just because of the way he killed, but because of the man he served. Everyone called him Scorpion because his sting was always silent… but deadly. “Yes, boss,” Scorpion replied. “That’s everything we could find.Amara is just Nineteen years old, No training, looks decent and harmless, But there’s something off.” Dominic raised a brow. “Off, how?” “She interfered in an execution. Tried to save the target Bianca Leone was supposed to kill. No weapon, no plan… she just reacted. Out of emotion.” Dominic leaned back in his chair. “So, she’s foolish.” “Maybe,” Scorpion said. “Or maybe she’s just… not like them.” Dominic looked up, waiting. “She was in medical school,” Scorpion continued. “Dropped out after her parents died. she wanted to be a doctor. “Interesting, She wants to bandage wounds while her family slices throats.” He glanced sideways at Scorpion. “That’s not just a weakness. That’s foolishness.” There was silence. Then Scorpion spoke again. “Since the wedding is tomorrow… don’t you think you should meet her? Even if it’s once? You both will be joined at the altar, boss.” Dominic didn’t hesitate. “No.” He stood up slowly, his tall frame casting a shadow across the room. “Let her meet me at the altar. Nothing beautiful will come out of meeting her. It’s not love. It’s business. Let’s not pretend.” Scorpion didn’t say more. He knew when to stop. He nodded once and walked out of the office, leaving Dominic alone. Dominic stood by the window, staring at the dark sky. Marriage…..Woman It was never part of his plans. In fact, in this life, it disgusted him. Maybe in another life, his next life, he would consider it. But in this one? He didn’t even believe in love. This wedding wasn’t from his heart. It was from duty. From pressure. His father’s last wish..“End the bloodshed. Make peace with the Leone family. Join hands instead of cutting throats.” But how do you join fire and water? Leone and Romano… they were never meant to co-exist. One had to burn for the other to live. And now, here he was, marrying a Leone girl. because this marriage was the price of peace. Still, Dominic wasn’t stupid. He didn’t trust the Leones. Not even for a second. Especially not a girl raised in their house. She might be innocent on paper, but in this world, innocence could be a weapon too. So, he had no plans to give her breathing space. No freedom. No false hope. She would be under control. His rules. His terms. Because the moment she tried to betray him… He would crush her, cut her head off…. *** THE WEDDING DAY AMARA “You are so beautiful,” Carla said softly, her eyes lighting up as she stared at Amara. Amara stood in front of the mirror, still in her robe, her hands gently brushing against the edge of the table. She hadn’t even worn the wedding dress yet, but her beauty was already clear. The makeup artist, one of the best in the city, handpicked by Bianca had worked magic on her face. Covered all the bruises perfectly. No one would know what she looked like yesterday. But even though she looked like a bride, she didn’t feel like one. Amara looked around the room. This was a dream she once had… but in her dream, she was marrying someone kind. Someone who feared God. Someone who would hold her with love and call her “mine” with joy. Instead, she was marrying a man feared across the underworld. A man whose name made grown men shiver. A combo of monster and beast… She swallowed hard and blinked quickly to stop herself from crying. There would be no friends dancing around her No one except Carla. And even Carla looked like she didn’t know how to be happy for her. Just then, the door opened gently. Amara turned slightly and saw him..her uncle. Mario Leone. Carla quickly stepped aside and gave a small bow before walking out of the room. The door closed behind her. Amara faced the mirror again, her eyes focusing on her reflection. She said nothing. Uncle Mario took slow steps into the room and stood behind her. His eyes scanned her from head to toe. “You look good,” he said in a calm voice. “Very good.” Amara stayed quiet. Her face didn’t change. She didn’t even blink. She just kept looking at herself in the mirror. Mario walked closer, then bent slightly and dropped a white envelope near her foot. She looked down slowly but didn’t reach for it. “You think this is just a marriage, don’t you?” he said quietly,. “You think you’ll go there and just be a wife.” He shook his head and gave a small cold smile. “No. This is not a marriage. This is a mission.” Amara slowly turned to face him. He nodded at the envelope. “Read it later. Everything I want to say is in there. But let me explain a little now..so you understand what you’re walking into.” He stepped back slightly, folding his hands behind him like he always did when giving orders. “You’re not going there to start a family or be some rich man’s wife. You are going there to watch. To listen. To bring back what we need. The Romano family is still our enemy. This wedding is only for peace on the surface. But deep down, we know who they are.” Amara’s jaw tightened. “You’re staying there for one year. That’s all I need from you. One year. Enough time to gather the right information. Their weak points. Their plans. Their secrets. And when I’m done using what I get from you…” He gave a short shrug. “You can leave. Run. Or divorce him. It won’t matter.” Amara looked him dead in the eyes. Her voice came out low, but firm. “So, after everything… after all you’ve done to me… you’re still dragging me into your war.” Mario’s eyes narrowed. “You are a Leone. Your blood is mine. And if you can’t be strong like Bianca, you’ll still be useful in a different way.” He moved toward the door, but paused before opening it. “Be smart, Amara. Use your face. Use your silence. He won’t suspect you. That’s your only strength.” Then he left, the door clicking softly behind him. Amara stood in front of the mirror, holding the envelope in her hand. She opened it, read her uncle’s note, and quietly dropped it on the table. She looked at her reflection again. A tear rolled down her cheek. She wiped it quickly. Then she leaned closer to the mirror and whispered, “It might be your game… but I’ll play by my own rules.”Dominic was walking so fast down the corridor. His steps were sharp and heavy. Scorpion followed from behind, but he couldn’t even keep up.When Dominic reached the door to his private office inside the empire, he opened it and stepped inside without even looking back at Scorpion. Then, he slammed the door right on his face. The loud bang of the door echoed through the hall. Scorpion stood outside, surprised, rubbing his hand where the door hit him.Inside the office, Dominic was pacing back and forth like he was trying to figure something out. His mind kept going back to one thought..why does she look so much like an angel? You wouldn’t believe he actually said that word in his head. That anger inside him grew. Without thinking, he hit his head hard against the wall. Once. Twice. Three times. He clenched his fists and pushed himself away from the wall. Then, without hesitation, he went straight to his desk and used his hands to scatter everything on it. Papers, files, pens..all flyin
Every last Saturday of the month, Dominic always went out for a long bike ride, alone. It was the only thing that ever gave him peace. But not today. This time, he didn’t go near the empire, and didn't ride. Instead, he checked into a hotel downtown and stayed there, away from everything. Mario had pissed him off again. He just found out the man was still trying to bargain for some illegal weapons from overseas, even after his so-called drug deal last batch, Though Dominic has managed to shut down the deal.Dominic had crushed the entire operation, but just knowing Mario’s blood would sleep under the same roof as him tonight made his skin crawl. If Amara crossed him even slightly, he knew himself..he might just snap, and pull a trigger on her forehead. And tonight, he wasn’t ready for drama. He needed silence. A break. The hotel room was dim, curtains drawn. He was sitting at the edge of the bed when the girl he had called in for the night walked out of the bathroom. Her hair was wet,
Amara stared at Dominic in shock.Yes, this side of him shouldn’t be a surprise, she expected it, he's called THE BLACK KING for a reason. But somehow, seeing it this close made her stomach turn. Still, she composed herself. She didn’t flinch. She didn’t break. She stood her ground. Her uncle might have thrown her to this man like an offering, but one thing she was sure of .. Dominic wouldn’t dare touch her anyhow. Not when their marriage was the only thing holding peace between the two strongest families in the underworld, and that’s why she will not leave with fear around him or walk around a shell just the way she has been living with her uncle.."You can't just do what you want with me, You can’t do me anyhow" Amara said, her voice steady. "You know one call to my uncle and this whole arrangement crashes. It won’t be fair to the Romanos too. Just leave me alone… while we both keep the peace, and the underworld atmosphere changes.”She said and tried not to show any fear. But her p
Amara turned and started walking back to her room in a hurry.“I said, who is that?” Dominic’s voice echoed again. She paused, cleared her throat, then slowly turned to face him. Dominic had already tied his robe, but the two ladies beside him didn’t even bother to cover up. They stood there, completely naked, without shame.Dominic had that strong, hard face on.“And what the hell are you looking for?” he asked coldly.“Hey, please don’t give me that strong face,” Amara said sharply, almost raising her voice, trust me she doesn’t know what pushed her to say that. Even Dominic looked surprised.“I just got lost around the house,” she added, folding her arms. “I didn’t mean to see anything.”She turned to walk away, then turned back again.“I pronounce you husband and wife..that’s what the priest said. Emphasis on husband. So please, learn your role, and not… this.”With that, she flipped her hair to the side and walked off without looking back. The two naked ladies just stared at her,
The priest finally pronounced them husband and wife. Before anyone could say anything else, Dominic placed his hand on Amara’s arm and turned her gently toward the church crowd. He raised her hand and waved it, making her follow his lead like a doll.“It’s a joke when killers also have their place in God’s house,” Amara thought as she stared blankly at the sea of faces. “Well… we have a merciful God.”They were about to turn away when the priest spoke again.“Wait,” he said, smiling wide. “You haven’t kissed your bride.”Amara stiffened slightly. But Dominic didn’t flinch, Instead, he turned slowly to look at Scorpion.Scorpion knew what that meant. He had been told ahead of time, Dominic didn’t want a kiss. Not even a fake one.Scorpion gave a slight nod and shifted his eyes to the second priest standing behind the main one. The second priest leaned forward and whispered quickly. The main priest looked confused for a second, then adjusted the microphone and cleared his throat.“Ah, y
