Chapter 10 - A Nightmare.

I was done tending to the Alpha King's wound and cleaning his body, I dipped the piece of cloth into clean water, squeezed out the excess, and hung it by the window to dry.

My gaze drifted outside, I lifted my head and stared upward at the sky, and I saw the beautiful dark clouds decorated with countless stars. The moon was almost hidden behind them.

I sighed as my mind recalled the beautiful memories I had with my parents.

I remembered telling my mother how beautiful the sky was, and how my father would join us, pulling both of us into his arms as we stared at it.

Sometimes, we talked and laughed. Other times, we simply sat there and watched in comfortable silence.

I could feel tears brimming in my eyes.

“Mother, Father, and my unborn sibling,” I whispered as I let my tears flow. “I hope you are enjoying your stay with the Moon Goddess.”

“I hope you are watching over me.”

“I want you to know that I will serve out our revenge. He that had done this evil to us, that has ruined us is never escaping. I will have him beg for mercy, and I will never grant it.”

The sobs I had tried to suppress finally broke free. Caring less about my surroundings, I sobbed until my heart felt completely emptied.

Aurelia. Calm. Calm… I chanted the words mentally to myself.

But I just couldn't calm down. I placed a hand over my mouth to suppress my cries and—

“Why are you crying?” A deep masculine rough but quiet voice asked.

My crying stopped immediately.

Did I just hear that?

Was that my imagination?

“You sound so sad. Why are you…” The voice paused before finishing, the words almost fading into a whisper. “Crying?”

No.

I definitely hadn't imagined it.

Someone had spoken, and the voice had come from behind me. I was certain.

I turned, and my gaze met the greenest orbs I had ever seen.

I stilled.

The eyes stared back at me with so much calmness and was it sympathy?

It took me a minute to register what was going on but when I do, my eyes immediately widened, and I let out a shocked gasp.

The Alpha King was the one staring at me. He is awake.

What do I do?

Yeah, a bow.

I was about to take a step backward give my bowwhen a force slammed into my chest.

“Ah!” I stumbled several steps back as my heart rate shot up, pounding violently against my chest. It was something I had never experienced before.

My head began to throb. Bangs of headaches hit me at short intervals, one heavier than the last.

I groaned as I shut my eyes and held my head with both hands.

“What… the hell is happening?” I forced the words out.

It was as if my body wasn't mine anymore. The pain was so unbearable that I doubled over.

Aurelia breathe. In and out, in - but whatever it was that was happening to me increased, no matter how I tried to calm myself down, it wasn't working.

“Is all well?”

That deep voice came again and then I felt a touch on my arm, and suddenly, as if nothing had happened, the force disappeared and the pounding in my head stopped.

What?

I took a deep breath and opened my eyes to be met with his gentle and concerned gaze.

For a full minute, we held our gaze, I tried to pull away, to look away but somehow I couldn't bring myself to and then I felt something bubble inside of me.

My brows pulled together in confusion was that a-

A growl, quiet but firm, sounded…

From me.

My eyes widened. What?

Both my hands shot up to my mouth.

What the hell? Since when did I growl while I was on suppressants?

That should never have been—

My thoughts of confusion were cut off by the quiet but firm voice within me.

Mate!

I jerked back and yelled in complete shock, “What?!”

This was not—

Mate! Mate!

The firm voice chanted louder in my head.

No fucking way! This has to be a joke! A dream, nay a fucking nightmare.

I have to find a way of waking up right this minute, I placed my fingers on my other hand, grab at my flesh and pinched hard. I could feel the pain … this… was not a dream.

And then, I could feel another growl rising in my throat.

No!

“What—” My words were cut off when the Alpha King’s gentle hold on my shoulder fell and suddenly he began jerking violently on his bed and started coughing.

I snapped out of whatever had possessed me and I took to my heels. I stormed out of the chamber, running towards the Beta's chambers.

As I raced along the hallway my heart kept pounding hard against my chest, I was slowly gasping for air, seems the air around was enough anymore and this was because I wasn't running.

My mind kept recalling all that happened in the room seconds ago.

Did my suppress wolf just cry… Mate?

Maybe I was imagining it all, maybe lack of sleep… maybe…

I couldn't come up with any other excuses, no one could describe any reason real enough to make me think otherwise.

The Moon goddess have to be kidding me!

That monster?! That evil wolf, the very person I brought the kingdom of the north to nothing, that bastard that killed my parents and thousands of northerners?!

Is my mate?!

No! It can't be.

“No, Never! Never!” I said in between my gaspes, “This can never happen.”

I already raced pass the meeting room when I saw the Beta seated inside, I stopped abruptly almost knocking myself over, I turned and raced back into the room.

Heads turned towards my direction, it wasn't alone the Beta that was in the room. The Gemma, the Alpha King's three mate and the healer all stared at me.

I had my hand on my stomach, I was panting heavily and at the same time I tried to talk but I ended up incoherent.

Luna Queen Yani hissed in distain, “Just how mannerless can you be? Have you gone blind to see we all have a serious meet-”

“The Alpha King is awake! Jerking and coughing!” I cut her off, finally pushing my words out in top of my voice.

“What?!” They all chorused.

And before I could even blink, Elder Sage and the Beta already whoopsed past me in a speed of lighting, I followed the three mates and the Gemma raced behind me.
