“Your ugliness must be so disturbing that you wear a veil.” Sonia's words cut through my thoughts, fastening me out of memories I wished never happened but they already did. I swallowed hard and still from my kneeling position, lifted my head to stare at Sonia, she was standing before me, her hands folded, her lips in a smile. Her gaze connected with mine and her steps faltered back as I stared straight at her with my anger and frustration, if it were other times I would avert my gaze but I didn't…. Sonia gulped, fear filled her features. I could feel a growl coming… Wait?! No! Not here! My wolf was surfacing. Quickly I averted my gaze, I stared down at my hands, they were already turning to paws, my claws already sticking out. Down! I scolded inwardly. Damn! These suppressant pills seem to be losing their potency…. I need to get another. “Get up! And get to work!” Sonia yelled at me but before I got up, she hurried away. I took a deep breath and grabbed the broom and parker. I was packing the broken fragments when the city bell began to ring. I smiled sadly… it must be a good news about the birth of a noble’s pup, it reminded me so much of the fact that I didn't get the chance to meet my younger sibling. “Wait? That's the fifth ring.” A black haired girl said, she turned to look at the others who also stopped what they were doing. Fifth ring? Nothing was accorded to five rings of the city bell.. then why did– My thoughts were interrupted by the sixth ring, my eyes widened. “Six rings meant–” “Bad news.” Another girl beside me completed my words. It means someone who shouldn't be dying was. The door burst open, Sonia was panting as she bent over to catch her breath. She raised her head and pointed at us, “You fools, run down to the infirmary now!” “The Alpha King has been injured on the battlefield!” The loud voice of the bell ringer sounded. Different distressed howls filled the air from a distance…. It was getting close reach passing second. “What!” Everyone shouted in fright. Sonia hissed and ran in the direction of the infirmary. "Make way! Make way!" A loud voice sounded from outside, "Get the infirmary ready." "His Grace. His Majesty. The King of the West, Alpha of all Alphas, Alpha King Alaric Leontius Valerian has been injured in the battle field!" "Make way, get the infirmary ready!" Voices continued yelling, in haste and urgency. "Oh goddess!" Exclaims filled the air. The kitchen soon turned upside down, everyone trying to run out of the kitchen at the same time, pushing one another, others were falling while some stepped on them to get through. But me? I didn't move. I couldn't move. Did I just hear right? Alpha King Alaric got injured? The Monster of the West? The very reason why I am here, disguised as an omega slave, the one who has a reason to wear a veil? Battlefield? Just a week ago while I was pretending to pack the dry laundry, I had eavesdropped on the guards and they had said that the Alpha King had a meeting. I should have known…. They talked about the ‘meeting’ so quietly that I was suspicious, well I had shrugged it off… My big mistake. So it was a battle? Damnit! I hissed. I should have listened more. If I had, my plan would have been executed by now and Alpha King Alaric Leontius Valerian would not only be injured. He would have been brought in… dead. I hissed again. I missed an opportunity there. Annoyance rose in me, I clutched my fists. I had asked, prayed and pleaded for a chance from the moon goddess, she gave me one and I fumbled by shaking off my instincts. But wait…? He is injured, on the verge of death… My lips curled up. This was another opportunity staring me in the face. “Oh moon goddess. Thank you.” I smiled. “Finally… Alpha King, you won't make it out alive. Trust me.” My smile turned to a grin and then I burst into a full blown laughter. Something sped past the door, I rushed out to see what it was, it was the healer, Elder Sage, his lower body was his wolf while his upper body remained unshifted. Now is my time. I took to my heels, racing to the infirmary. My heart pounded with anxious excitement. This has to be the very day after six whole years that my prey finally fell into my trap. The first day I stepped foot on the western soil, that was six years ago, I knew it wouldn't be as easy as I had planned but I had to be patient. Six years was nothing compared to the agony and pain I had gone through and all because of that monster. But today, an end will come to my wait. *** I made to follow the healer, to be so close to him so that when he wasn't looking I could do something and end the monster. But the towering, intimidating figure that stood behind the healer made me stop in my steps. The figure turned to me and I almost gasped out… Beta Ilan had blood oozing out from all the parts that his blooded armour did not cover. I retracted my steps and bowed, suddenly I felt a tight grip around my wrist and I was pulled away. “You fool! The maids are expected to stay here and watch.” Madam Donna who had pulled me said as she pushed me to a corner, to stay with other maids. I looked around the infirmary, there were two podiums, the one I was standing in was filled with maids. The other one had soldiers, they were also watching. I balled my fists… I could not do anything here unless I wanted to get caught and sentenced. “Pray for the Alpha King. He must make it alive.” Sonia said. I almost scoffed. Pray? Who fucking needs to pray for a monster? He deserves death, the only prayer I would be offering is for him to die. I looked around again and sighed. “Goddess! All I ask is one chance. Just one.” I muttered as I turned and focused on the treatment as it was about to begin. The healer handed a wet cloth to the Beta, he turned and stared at the sword which was standing between his shoulder and neck. I wish the person had aimed better, should have pierced his neck or his chest from behind just as he did six years ago. The image of my mother, screams, howls flashed through my mind, I shook my head to keep them at bay “Elder, please save him. He… He took the sword for me. Please.” Beta Ilan begged, his voice broken. I was taken aback at how broken the Beta's voice sounded, it sounded so strange, a strong he wolf at the verge of tears saying this monster saved him? I almost scoffed. That can never be true. “Saved?” I muttered, unable to believe that word existed in a world that Alpha King Alaric Valerian lived in. “Shut up.” Sona scolded from behind me and as if the warning was not enough, she pushed me, making me stumble forward with so much force. I tried to steady myself but I couldn't and I landed hard, face against the wall, I winched quietly. “The treatment of the Alpha King commences.” Elder Sage announced, his gaze staring up at us, I quickly adjusted myself ready to watch the treatment, not because I was interested but because I wanted to see the weakest spot, the spot that would be an instant kill when hit. I rather wished he would be left to die. Slowly and carefully, Elder Sage with the help of the Beta removed the broken armour revealing his bare body which was only covered by an under cloth around his waist. “Oh moon goddess!” “He is so built.” “So strong.” Silent dreamy comments made the rounds. “Shut up, you whores!” Mistress Donna snapped but her voice didn't sound harsh just as it would have been. I stared up at her and saw she also had this dreamy look on her face too, I could swear her eyes were in heart shapes. I rolled my eyes and shook my head in disgust. I stared down again at the body. Though covered in smears of blood, there was a drawing of a howling wolf on his chest. Well, funny, that would be him soon, howling in pain. My gaze followed the hands of the healer, my ears picking up his words, my heart followed every single step even to the tiniest detail.-Aurelia -The figures dressed in black garments which covered them from head to foot came out from behind the trees and bowed before me and then placed both of their hands crossed on their chest.“The Moon blesses the North.” I said, my voice trembled as I remembered the greatness of the North which was now told in tales beginning with once upon a time.Again, I remembered the ruin that had befallen us … but that wouldn't be for long.. that would be atoned with the blood of Alaric Leontius Valerian.I rushed to the figures, pulled them together and hugged them.“I missed you both so much. I do. I really do.”“We do too.” They both responded. We disengaged and they both pulled off their black garment to reveal my two aides, my sisters, the family I am left with.“My Queen!” Azura yelled gleefully and threw her arms around me engulfing me in a tight hug, “Oh! I was so scared when Beta Ilan held your veil.” She disengaged but still held me by my shoulders.“Oh Moon! Ask Sorya, I almost
- Aurelia -The healer frowned in confusion as he looked from me to the Beta.“Her eyes give off this unsettling excitement. Change her to someone else.”I quickly bowed my head… my heart pounded in my chest. How the hell did this man know I was smiling? How could he tell I was excited?Damn! How could I forget so quickly all I have heard about Beta Ilan Yonimas.Stories said he is a very sensitive and cautious man. Nothing, they say, catches him off guard.Stories also have it that he could literally smell out one's thoughts, his eyes could pierce even the hardest soul and get what they are thinking out of them.Well, I had shaken it off, thinking it must have been exaggerated but I am not so sure anymore… because it seems they weren't.“I don't feel comfortable with her.” Beta Ilan said again as he raised his hand and moved it to the corner of my vision, I took in a shaky breath, my hands trembling.“Why are you on a veil?” He asked. He was about to take a hold of my veil when I qui
- Aurelia -“Praise the moon goddess. His majesty is out of danger and on his way to recovery.” Elder Sage announced as he pressed the wet cloth he had earlier given the Beta against the Alpha King’s sword wound. The maids sighed heavily, releasing deep breaths that they had been holding… I resisted the urge to roll my eyes in disgust. The only time I held my breath was when the sword was about to be pulled out, hoping it did go wrong but it didn't.He had escaped from a bloodbath but his recovery? Not on my watch.I watched as Beta Ilan bowed his head, his fingers formed a fists which he placed on his chest … he was paying homage to the Healer.Elder Sage smiled and did the same, “The moon goddess will continue to protect our Alpha King.”I smirked. No, she won't. She has given him into my hands and his death is near.“My Lord, you also need treatment.” Elder Sage said to the Beta, who looked terrible too, he was in a bad shape yet he didn't remember himself but wanted the monster t

- Aurelia -I stared angrily at the unstable heap of dirty dishes piled in the sink.I was supposed to wash them, that has always been my duty but my feet wouldn’t move. My body refused to obey anymore. But I had to.Forcing myself forward, I took a step—Crash! The stack of plates came crashing to the floor, shattering into pieces. My eyes widened in horror as I stared at the fragments, I looked up and my eyes were met with Sonia’s glare, Sonia the kitchen bully as she was called behind her back.I opened my mouth to speak, but two hard slaps landed across my face before my words could leave my lips.My cheeks stinged in pain, my veil could never reduce the effect of such a slap.“You stupid Omega!” Sona yelled into my face.“What is going on here?” Our head mistress, Madam Donna asked sharply. She stood at the doorway, a deep frown was etched on her face as her gaze settled on the shattered dishes scattered across the floor.“I didn’t—”“Aurelia pushed them down because she didn’t w
