SCARLET

Their voices bounced off the hall, thundering like a violent storm. I dragged my gaze through James, who was staring at me in sheer disbelief, and focused on the pair of soft blue eyes that hadn't left me.

Mother.

She stared at me like I was someone completely different—like I was a monster.

I blinked, my heart clenching painfully in my chest.

And maybe I was.

The Scarlett who never lost control, who hated the sight of blood, had just dug her claws into someone's neck.

I stepped back as a strong hand pressed against my back, heat seeping from his fingers where he touched, traveling down to my gut.

I swallowed hard and looked up at him.

“You did so well, Scarlett.” I nodded, then refocused my gaze on the crowd, trying and partially succeeding to keep up the angry scowl.

My wolf had snapped the moment she saw James, when he hurled his useless accusations at me.

Maybe she knew how deeply hurt I was—how his words broke every single part of me that believed in love, in fairy tales, and in forever after.

All that was bullshit. To James, I was merely a political tool, and maybe I was the exact same thing to Father.

My gaze met his, carrying an unreadable look I couldn't quite decrypt. Our eyes held each other, locked in a silent standoff, until Creighton pulled me away.

I turned without so much as a glance back and headed toward the former Alpha.

I bowed politely. “Greetings, Alpha.”

“Uncle,” he corrected gently, his voice low and edged with a familiar warmth. Then, his gaze darkened as he glared at Creighton, and in that split second, I saw it:

Anger.

Frustration.

It was like he knew this whole thing was Creighton's idea.

“Call me Uncle, like you always did.”

I let a soft, melancholy smile creep onto my lips.

That was how it was before—before my eighteenth birthday, before I became a disgrace to all of them. He never said it out loud, but the shift was undeniable in the way he started treating me. Like I was made of fragile glass, or how he would send maids to brighten up my mood.

He cared for me, just like Father once did, but his methods were vastly different. When I stepped away from the pack, he didn't stop me; he offered me help.

When I refused, he didn't judge. He simply said he trusted my judgment—words that made my heart tug, something my own father never bothered to say.

All Father ever did was jab his finger in my face and tell me how I was going to ruin my life. How the pack would eat me alive without him, without me being under his roof, subject to his watchful gaze.

I turned and walked away that night, broken, lost, and entirely alone.

“Almost two decades, and you return with such a grand entrance,” Uncle observed.

Creighton's grip dropped down to my waist, pulling me possessively against his side. “I came with my wife. That isn't just an entrance—it's a statement.”

“You...” Uncle spoke, trailing his gaze to the figure that had subtly approached behind us. We turned, my gaze instantly meeting Father's.

“Greetings, Alpha,” Father said stiffly, then turned his focus to me. “May I have a word with you?”

I stared at him for a second, then another, letting the heavy silence stretch between us. “No.”

His eyes widened in shock before he forced himself back to his usual calm, composed composure.

He had so many questions—mostly asking when I got my wolf back and why I didn't tell him. But I didn't want to answer. I wasn't strong enough to stand in front of him without breaking down, without screaming out loud about the deep wounds he had inflicted on me. The raw fury I felt whenever he looked at me like everyone else did:

With disgust.

“It will be quick. I am still your father.”

“I got my wolf back recently. I didn't tell you because you didn't need to know,” I answered his unasked questions, my voice icy and detached. “And next time you pay someone to date me, make sure he is actually worth the money.”

He went dead still.

  • BOUND TO THE MOONCREST ALPHA    chapter 18

SCARLETTI awoke to an excruciating headache, a weak body, and the nauseating feeling to empty my stomach, although I was starving. Martha had rushed to me with her brew remedy; it was meant for strength, I took it without worrying, especially when I knew I needed it.Hours later, I lounged on my bed, flipping through the thick books while I was searching through the reading pages of the history of Lycans, the formations, and my eyes caught something off.Wolves who awaken late are the strongest, they are fast at everything, and are required to gain even more immortal strength during the rest of the time they were absent, but why exactly was my case different? My wolf was weak, barely able to hold a fifteen minute conversation.I let out a sigh and shifted my gaze to my phone; I scrolled through Instagram, reels after reel. I felt less interested; I was starting to understand why the pack didn't prioritize having phones—it was a basket of distraction which seemed to lure you in with

CREIGHTON“Don't touch her.”“Don't look at her like you care.”“Don't make her think she is weak, she is not. She doesn't need your pity, she needs your strength, your cold powerful side that would push her to the best of her even if that part might leave her dead.”I repeated these words with every punch she launched, every pain twisted expression, every time she fell and her body screamed to stop, she didn't stop, I didn't stop her.I watched her fight when her body couldn't, when her wolf had stopped, then she collapsed. The moment I saw the red liquid oozing her lips and rolling down her chin, I lost it.My wolf growled as I hurried to her, but didn't say a word, I couldn't.I stared down at the little figure who was all curled up in my arms, her face buried in my chest, hands clutching my clothes, she looked so fragile and fearful, the moonlight spilling over us, lighting her features.I tucked the strands of her hair that fell loose behind her ears, my thumb stroking her cheeks

  • BOUND TO THE MOONCREST ALPHA    chapter 16

SCARLETTPain exploded in my gut, every muscle in my body going rigid as I felt my wolf letting out a hiss. My breathing came out heavy, my eyes stung with tears; I opened my mouth, but I could only gasp cold air.I tried to stand, but was too limp, the pain tearing my insides. I cranked my head back, my gaze meeting Creighton. I expected pity, the sheer look of sympathy; I expected him to call me what I had always lived with.Weak. I was no different from one who didn't have a wolf.My gaze stared into his cold golden eyes that bored into mine. He tilted his head, then spoke, his voice cold, flat, almost like he was talking to a wall.“Your speed was good. Now try that again, but this time let your wolf fully lead, lose control.”I blinked. He didn't so much as ask me what was wrong or behave like I was in pain.“Attack me,” he said, snapping me out of my thoughts. I staggered up, ignoring the pains that shot through my veins.I launched at him, my moves even slower than before. He s

  • BOUND TO THE MOONCREST ALPHA    chapter 15

SCARLETTThe moment he uttered those words, hope surged through me alongside confusion. He did promise me revenge, but this…I wasn't expecting him to offer literal help. He was the Alpha and…I trailed off, the rough texture that skimmed through the pads of my fingers bringing my thoughts to reality. I blinked and my thought was gone. I stared down at the book I had picked up from the library. It was an extensive knowledge of Lycans, a 5-thousand-page book I had settled to read this morning. If I needed to walk into that ritual, I needed all the knowledge I could get my hands on.I flipped through the page, my gaze landing on wolf scent. Every Lycan had their unique scent. I paused, my mind racing back to last night. The moment he drew me into his arms and buried his face in my hair, I went still. For a second I thought I was dreaming; I thought there was no way he was hugging me—the Alpha Creighton, who has a stoic look, who looked like he was a huge germaphobe, was hugging me, who

  • BOUND TO THE MOONCREST ALPHA    CHAPTER 14

CREIGHTONThe car rolled into the villa, and as I ducked out, a weak smile tugged at my lips at the sight of the villa.I was finally here.Closer to her.Days trapped in that palace, reading through pack issues and several meetings was infuriating. It wasn't the fact it was boring, it was the fact it kept me away from her, away from what's mine, and it wasn't fucking helping, and the elders were determined to get rid of him.My jaw clenched and I schooled my emotion, then headed into the villa. The moment the door creaked open, the cold air oozed out, the eerie thick silence floated through the air and stirred my senses.Something was off.“Greetings, Alpha.” The maids dropped to their knees. I barely paid them attention as I made my way in; steps followed mine.“Greetings, Alpha,” Martha spoke. Her next words made every drop of blood evaporate to nothingness. “Alpha, Lady Scarlett isn't around.”I stopped dead in my tracks, then slowly I stirred to look at her.“Where is she?”I wo

  • BOUND TO THE MOONCREST ALPHA    CHAPTER 13

SCARLETTThe only sound that thudded through the air was the incoherent tapping of my fingers followed by the sound of page sliding against the other.A whole day had passed since the court meeting and Mother's visitation, a while sat to reflect on my decision. Not like I had any other choice.I rustled out a sigh that floated through the crisp morning air while reading through every line of the Luna Rite.Creighton had gotten the book delivered to me this morning, and I wasted no time in reading it.The more I read, the more my gut wrenched, my breath slashing them. This wasn't just a rite; it was a carefully woven labyrinth meant to lure and trap, never meant to be unraveled. They were four rites, four rituals, four challenges, and the next were more brutal than the other. The first was the easiest far most—was the Blood Rite. A rite meant to test the strength of the wolf's purity or rather bloodlines. Performed by slicing one's palm with a knife and placing the bloody hand into Vil
