Bright's POV:

It was a Friday afternoon. I sat on my office chair on the fifth floor of a five-story building, discussing with a business partner, Mr. Justin Tilman.

Just then, my office door swung open, and my fiancée, Nini Andre, who worked as my financial manager, stormed in.

"Bright, I am done with this relationship! I don't want us to continue!" Nini shouted, throwing the diamond engagement ring in my face. The previous night, I had proposed to her with that ring.

Nini didn't care that I had a client with me. She openly embarrassed me in front of my top partner.

"Mr. Tilman, we will get to discuss the business negotiation later," I said, my voice cold.

Mr. Tilman stood up and left my office, acting like he didn't see the angry woman.

Once the door shut, I fixed my gaze on Nini. She was a tall, fair-skinned, 27-year-old woman.

"What's the matter, babe? Why did you take off your ring and throw it in my face?" I asked her, my voice calm, despite the rage boiling inside of me.

Rising from my office chair, I picked up the ring and walked over to meet her. I was the CEO of Morgan Groups and the Blues Hotel in this city, and no one messes with me.

Nini stood with a stern look on her face and demanded, "Are you asking me why I am calling it quits, Bright?"

She glared at me as I couldn't find words to respond. I wondered what had provoked her.

"Are you really a man?" Nini demanded, glaring at me as tears streamed down her cheeks.

"We have been having unprotected sex for five years, and I haven't gotten pregnant by you. What does that tell you? That you are impotent!" she yelled, her body trembling and her eyes shooting daggers at me.

My heart ached painfully at the way Nini yelled at me.

I knew that I was impotent, but I was still trying to find a way to tell her.

I provided for Nini and her family's needs, and I was searching for a cure.

"Nini, please calm down. We have been dating for five years now. I can get medical help. You will have my child," I tried to comfort her, but she shrieked.

"Don't come any closer to me, Bright! You are an impotent man. What's the point of having all these millions when you cannot get a single woman like me pregnant?"

"I cannot continue with you! I only accepted your ring at the hotel the previous night because I do not want to embarrass you, but I cannot continue with you."

"You should look for a barren woman to marry. Not me."

Nini glared at me, not caring if her words were breaking my heart.

"Nini, please, you know that I love you very much. I did everything to support you. Your family. I paid your tuition f*e into the university. You cannot break up with me now," I tried to plead with her to give me time, but she narrowed her eyes at me.

"Tell me how much you spent on me, Bright? I work for you, so I can make a refund. This is my life that I am talking about here! My future. I cannot spend the rest of my life with you. And do not come after me again; we are over! Besides, I gave you my body in the past five years that we have known each other. So take that as a repayment for all the money that you spent on me. But I cannot take this ring. I need a real man who will make me pregnant, not an incompetent CEO like yourself!"

Nini darted out of my office, leaving my world to turn black.

Clenching my fist around the ring, I knew that I truly loved Nini. I did everything to make her happy. But recently, I didn't know how she found out that I was impotent.

I hadn't discussed it with Nini yet, but she said she wanted to have a child before we were married.

Moving back to my office chair, I sat back, but I couldn't focus on anything that I was doing. The time was 4 p.m.

My mind was restless, replaying the harsh words Nini had hurled at me.

*What's the point of having all this money if I cannot make Nini pregnant?*

*What is my use as a man?*

My gaze darkened, knowing that I was a 31-year-old man and I had been dating Nini since I was 26.

Turning off my computer, I picked up my phone and contacted my best friend, Sunny Howard and Gabriel Jefferson.

"Hello, Sunny, are you free tonight?" I asked him, wanting to know if he could share a drink with me.

"I am sorry, Bright. I have an important client to meet tonight, and I cannot hang out with you. Why not call Gabriel?" Sunny replied, his tone apologetic.

I frowned, feeling like the world was turning its back on me.

"That's fine. I will call Gabriel now," I replied calmly, despite my broken heart, then I contacted Gabriel.

"Hello, Gab. Can you hang out with me tonight?" I asked him calmly.

A thick silence fell on the line. Gabriel then asked, "Where do you want to hang out? Why not call your fiancée to hang out with you? You just got engaged despite my warning."

My heart ached, knowing that Gabriel warned me not to marry Nini. He claimed he saw her cheating on me, but he didn't have any evidence to prove it.

The reminder of Nini's betrayal stung. She had cut me off. Also, she warned me not to chase after her.

"Nini broke up with me just now and returned my ring," I said, taking a deep breath.

"What?" Gabriel gasped, his anger evident in the call.

"That slut! I have already known that she doesn't want to marry you. Didn't you see the way that she was behaving after you gave her the ring? She was reluctant to accept you!" Gabriel shouted.

"It's okay, Gabriel. I hold no grudge against Nini. She said that I am not man enough to get her pregnant. She discovered I'm at fault."

The phone call went silent for a while before Gabriel asked, "Are you sure you want to hang out in a club? You just need to relax and calm down and maybe try to reach out to her to know if she is serious about breaking up with you. Besides, you have done so much for her. You helped her family, and now she wants to quit the relationship with you?" His tone was filled with annoyance.

"It's okay, Gabriel, let it slide. Besides, Nini worked for me. I'm sure she will come back to me when she calms down. She cannot do without me. So she will come to beg me," I said, confident about that.

"Alright. I will see you at your club tonight. Time 6 p.m.," Gabriel agreed, my heart feeling better.

"Alright. I'm still at the company. Once I close, I will head to the Blues," I replied calmly.

"Alright. I will see you there," Gabriel said, before the call ended.

My phone rang again, and I thought it was Gabriel calling me back, but I saw that it was my stepmother, Eden Morgan.

"Hello, Mom," I answered her call, despite my frustrations.

"Bright, what's going on? I heard that Nini has ended her engagement with you? Why would she do that?"

Shutting my eyes, I replied, "It's her choice. How am I supposed to know?"

"Bright, how can you say that you do not know why your own fiancée broke up with you? Anyway, you have to come home today. Your father insists," Eden said, her voice firm, and my brows furrowed.

"I'm in no mood to come home. How about tomorrow? I will be at home," I replied, as it was Friday. I needed some time to relax, and get over Nini's breakup with me.

My stepmother didn't like me. She pretended only in front of my dad. I'm sure she is celebrating now that my fiancée had broken off with me. She was happy about my health condition and wanted her own son, Raymond, to take over my company.

"Fine," Eden replied coolly. "I will inform your dad."

The call ended, and I got ready to leave for the club.

(Nini's POV)"What? How is my son, Raymond, the father of your child, Nini? Are you lying to us? You don't have to tell a lie," Mrs. Eden asked, her eyes watching me curiously, begging me to tell her the truth."I'm not lying, Ma. Raymond and I had sex. He told me about Bright's infertility and said he could make me pregnant. I thought it was all a lie until the test results came back positive," I said, tears streaming down my cheeks. However, Mrs. Eden marched up to me and smacked me hard across my left cheek."Shut up, you slụt! My son is not the father of your child!" she yelled, her eyes shooting daggers at me. I looked at her in shock, my left hand instinctively flying to cover my cheek—I hadn't expected the slap."That's enough, honey. You don't need to raise your hand to her," Mr. Morgan said calmly, even though his wife was seething with rage. But she yelled, "Get out of our house, you Jezebel! So it was your plan to cause a division between my two sons. Even though Bright isn

(Nini's POV)After I left Bright's office, I made my way to the first floor and left the company. Most of the staff looked at me as if I didn't belong there, as if I should quit my job.I knew that I owed Bright an explanation as to why I had broken up with him. Pregnancy wasn't something to be kept hidden, and I knew that Bright would soon find out that I was pregnant with his brother's child.I had thought Bright would react angrily and maybe hit me or throw me out, but he said he already knew that I had cheated. He said he wasn't angry with me and that I should call Raymond and let him know the pregnancy was his. Bright also advised me to inform his parents. My parents had been calling me nonstop, especially my dad and my older brother. They wanted me to come home, and they wanted to force me to apologize to Bright and get back together with him. But Bright made it clear to my face that he didn't want me again. He said that I should move on, and that he had already moved on too.I

(Bright's POV)I had not expected to run into that woman again in my company. The intimate moments we had shared came flooding back in my mind.I was trying to forget about the time we spent together, and now she was working for me as my new accountant. "Damn it!" I cursed and made my way into my office on the top floor of the five-story building. As I paced about in my office, I considered whether I should accept Jeff's offer to transfer her to his company, even though he was younger than me.I shook my head and decided against it."No. Let me see what she is capable of. After all, she is not pursuing me, and she didn't look at me in a way that suggests she wants me again. She clearly understood that it was a one-night stand."As I settled in my office chair, trying to calm my nerves, my office line rang. My secretary, Rita, informed me, "Sir, Mr. Ford is requesting to see you.""Let him in," I replied, before ending the call.A few minutes later, Jeff walked into my office with a s

(Bright's POV) "What? How sure are you that the pregnancy belongs to Raymond? Haha, just cut the joke, Nini. I don’t like jokes, and you know it," I said, laughing sadly and wondering if Nini was playing a trick on me. "I’m not joking, Bright. Raymond invited me over some months ago after you and I stopped having sex. I’m sure he’s the one, but he doesn’t love me. I don’t know how to tell him, and I didn’t want to lie to you about my pregnancy. It’s why I broke up with you. But I still love you, Bright. Please..." Nini stepped forward, reaching for my hands. Just then, Richard entered my office and lowered his head. "Sir, I brought your request," he said, glancing from me to Nini. "It’s fine, Richard. Bring it in," I replied, not sending Richard away despite Nini’s presence. I was shocked by Nini’s confession about why she broke up with me. Sunny and Gideon had already told me that Nini had been cheating, so I was prepared for the worst. It was why I wanted to move on and let her b

(Carolina's POV) When I rose to leave my new office, I paused at the door and glanced back once more. "It felt good to be a new accountant and finally have a job," I said. A smile crept up on my lips, and my heart fluttered with a wave of excitement as I exited my office on the second floor. I made my way to the cafeteria on the third floor. **** (Bright's POV) I sat in my office chair, working on some business projects on my computer, my fingers clicked with precise movements as I worked on the project at hand. I had been too preoccupied to visit my company branch, so I made an arrangement with my partner, Mr. Jeff Ford to handle the hiring process for me, because I wanted only professionals hired. The day flew by quickly, and before I knew it, it was afternoon. My phone rang aloud with an incoming call, breaking the peacefulness in my office. My hand instinctively reached for my phone as I picked it up, and my eyes stared at the caller. It was an incoming call from Gabriel

(Carolina's POV) The crowd dwindled as many people walked out of the Human Resources department with disappointed looks on their faces. Soon, it was my turn. I rose from my chair and walked toward the interview room. I sucked in a deep breath, believing that I would pass the interview. The last interview had taught me to dress decently at work. They weren't searching for only brains, but also for how modest their employees appeared. When I walked into the vast office, the man who sat behind his desk raised his head and peered at me. "You!" I gasped, seeing he was the stalker. "Mmm," his brows furrowed as he looked at me from head to toe. "You want to work here? As a new staff member?" he asked, his lips curling into a smile. I couldn't believe that he worked for Morgan Groups. I thought he was the boss of his own company. "Yes…" I spluttered, clearing my throat, and he smiled. "I understand that look of surprise on your face. Actually, I don't work here. Bright hired me to run
