Mag-log inIsadora's Pov
If I did not move away from the kitchen counter right now, Rafael would turn around from the balcony and see me staring at his open phone screen.
I read the text message on his screen three times, feeling my stomach turn into a block of ice.
So my father had just sent the final balance because Rafael had delivered me straight into his hands.
I step away from the phone, backing toward the living room before he caught me looking.
After some minutes, Rafael stepped inside from the balcony, shutting the glass door behind him.
"Is something wrong, Isadora?" Rafael asked, walking straight toward the kitchen counter with a calm face.
"You sold me out to Peter Fenwick," I said, pointing my finger at the glowing phone screen on the counter.
He stopped in his tracks, looking down at the message before looking back up at me without any guilt in his eyes.
"You were never going to get away from him anyway," Rafael said, taking a step toward me and reaching into his pocket.
"I trusted you with my life tonight," I yelled, taking two steps back toward the front door of the apartment.
I immediately ran for the stairs, but Rafael moved faster than I expected and grabbed my arm.
He pulled me back into the living room, taking my own phone out of my pocket and throwing it onto the couch.
"You are not running anywhere," Rafael said, holding my wrist so tight my fingers went numb.
He opened the front apartment door with his free hand, and two large men in black suits stepped inside immediately as I fought against his grip, but the two guards grabbed my shoulders and forced my arms behind my back.
Then, I realized that this safehouse was never a refuge; it was just a staging area for my capture.
I decide to stop wasting my energy fighting them, rather saving my breath for what was coming next.
They marched me out of the building, down the back stairs, and shoved me into the rear of a dark SUV.
Rafael sat in the front passenger seat, ordering the driver to head straight to Madrid.
We rode in heavy silence for forty minutes until the vehicle turned into the basement garage of Fenwick Headquarters.
The guards opened my door, pulled me out into the cool air, and marched me toward the private elevator.
I looked at Rafael as the lift doors shut, but he kept his eyes fixed on the ceiling display.
I felt a cold rage build inside my chest, replacing the fear with a deep desire for revenge.
"You are going to regret doing this to me," I whispered, glaring at the side of his face.
"I did what was necessary for my own future," Rafael answered, refusing to turn his head toward me.
The elevator beeped and opened directly into the private executive suite on the top floor of the building.
Then the guards pushed me through the double glass doors, and I saw my father sitting at the head of the long conference table.
Peter Fenwick looked up from a stack of legal papers, drinking from a crystal glass as if nothing out of the ordinary was happening.
"You should have stayed in line, Isadora," Peter said, setting his glass on the table without any emotion.
"You locked me in that estate and paid Rafael to track me down," I said, stepping forward until the guards held me back.
"Lok, i cleared my debts with the Ossorio family by handing over what belonged to them," Peter said, leaning back in his chair.
"I am a human being, not a piece of property you can trade away," I spat, pulling against the guards' arms.
"You were never a real Fenwick, and you have no power in this building anymore," Peter said flatly as I stood in the middle of the room, processing the painful truth that my entire life had been built on a financial transaction.
I decided right then that I would survive this night and bring every single one of them down.
I looked, as the side door of the suite opened, and Everett Ossorio walked in with two corporate lawyers right behind him.
Rosalind walked into the room right after him, wearing a dark suit with her hair styled neatly.
She looked at me with a cold smile, walking over to take a seat directly next to Peter at the table.
"It is time to wrap this matter up," Everett said, sliding a thick folder across the table to Peter.
"What are you signing?" I demanded, watching my father take out his pen without looking at me.
"These papers transfer all your company shares and your executive position away from you," Everett said, watching Peter sign the last page.
"You cannot take my shares without my legal consent," I said, struggling against the heavy grip on my shoulders.
"Well, a judge signed a paper declaring you mentally unfit an hour ago,"
Everett replied, holding up an official stamped document.
My breath caught in my throat as the weight of their trap closed in around me from every direction.
"Rosalind Kane is officially taking your place as the Vice Chair of Ossorio Real Estate," Everett announced, passing the signed contract to Rosalind.
Rosalind who looked at me without pity, took the folder with a satisfied nod, looking over at me with complete victory in her eyes.
"You stole my name and my life, but you will pay for this," I said, looking straight into her eyes.
"Isadora Fenwick does not exist anymore," Rosalind answered, turning her attention back to the lawyers.
Rafael walked over to the table and handed my original passport and birth certificates directly to Everett.
I watched the man I had relied on give the final pieces of my legal identity to my worst enemy.
Then, a dark silence settled over my mind, and I knew that my old life was officially dead and gone.
"Take her down to the transport vehicle in the lower bay," Everett ordered, waving his hand toward the guards.
The guards turned me around, pushing me toward the back exit that led into the secure stairwell.
While they pulled me away, something halted me as I looked back over my shoulder to made eye contact with Rafael one last time.
"I will come back for everything you took from me," I said, making sure every person in the room heard my promise.
Then the guards threw open the heavy exit door, but then, a tall man in a dark coat was standing on the concrete landing with a gun raised straight at my head.
ISADORA’S POVRafael grabbed my waist on the dark balcony and kissed me until my legs could not hold my weight anymore. We fell asleep holding each other tight, ready to face the war that was coming the next day. When I woke up at six o'clock in the morning, the bright sunlight was coming through the big window, and the room was very quiet.I turned my head to look for Rafael, but his side of the bed was empty, and his shoes were gone from the floor.I sat up on the bed quickly, wrapping the sheet around my body as fear returned to my chest and I stood up and walked toward the bathroom, but the door was wide open, and nobody was inside.I walked over to the small wooden table near the door, and I saw a white paper lying right beside my purse.I picked up the white paper with my shaking hands and read the words written in big black ink.It was a handwritten note from my sister Rosalind.I stepped out of our car outside the big auction house in Marbella. Valentina had invited all the r
ISADORA’S POVRafael stood in front of me with his mouth completely shut, refusing to tell me the truth about the secret contract that gave my sister power over his life.I looked at the small gold ring sitting in my open palm, and the deep pain in my chest turned into hot anger as I stepped toward the big window and threw the ring out into the darkness with all the strength in my right arm. The small gold band vanished into the night, and my heart felt like it was breaking into a thousand small pieces. I turned back to face Rafael, wiping my wet face with the back of my hand so he would not see me cry anymore."You are a coward, Rafael," I said, pointing my finger at his pale face as my legs trembled under my weight.Rafael then took a fast step toward me and grabbed both of my hands in his warm palms. "I am not a coward, Isadora," he said, holding my fingers tight while his eyes filled with tears. "I am keeping quiet because I am trying to save your life and your family from total
ISADORA’S POv"You think that simple gold ring on your finger makes you a real wife, Isadora?" Rosalind spat, as she clapped her hands together with a dry laugh that sent cold fear straight down my spine.I pulled my hand back slowly against my stomach, and my skin felt ice cold while my sister took two heavy steps closer to where I sat."I sold those shares to Valentina because you deserve to lose every single thing you own," Rosalind said, as she pointed her fingers straight at my me while her eyes burned with dark hatred."You have always been weak and stupid, and you think Rafael truly wants you for who you are," she continued, and she looked down at my face with total disgust. My throat closed up tightly, and tears pooled under my eyelids while her cruel words tore through my remaining confidence.I looked up at Rafael because I wanted him to step in and shut her mouth, but he stood completely still beside the bed with his hands clenched into tight fists."Get out of our room rig
ISADORA’S POVMy father Peter stood in the middle of the big room with a wide smile on his face as he held the signed paper high in the air and looked at Rafael and me like he had won a grand prize. Valentina stepped closer to Rafael with her head held up, expecting him to smile and accept the deal she made with my sister."Now we own this estate together, Rafael," Valentina said, taking a step toward him as my stomach turned upside down with fear.Rafael did not look at the paper in my father's hand, and he did not smile at Valentina at all either. He took my hand, stepped forward, and placed himself between Valentina and me."I will never do any business with you, Valentina," Rafael said, looking directly into her eyes as my chest expanded with sudden relief.Valentina stopped moving, and the smile on her face disappeared completely."What are you talking about, Rafael?" she asked, reaching out her hand to touch his arm as my mouth grew dry. "I did this for us so we can control eve
ISADORA’S POVThe text message from Valentina showed a photo of Rafael sleeping in her bed while I was lying alone in his apartment.I dropped his phone onto the mattress because my hands were shaking so much, and I could not breathe properly. My mind was spinning with terrible thoughts as I looked at the dark screen lying on the sheets. I gave him my body and my heart last night, but he still went back to his ex-fiancée the moment I closed my eyes. So much pain cut through my chest so deep that I had to sit on the floor for a few minutes just to hold my knees together.I told myself that I would not stay in his house to cry like a weak person. I stood up immediately, put on my clothes quickly, and grabbed my small bag from the table as I left his apartment without making any noise, and I entered my car to drive down to our family estate in Segovia. The rain was falling heavily from the sky, washing over my front glass as I drove fast on the dark road with my eyes full of tears, but
ISADORA’S POVI opened my eyes at dawn and felt the cold sheet beside me where Rafael was supposed to be sleeping. It all started when I was so angry after Valentina stood on that stage in Madrid and told everyone about the joint takeover of my family estate. Then immediately after the gala night, I drove straight to Rafael’s penthouse apartment without waiting for him to explain anything at the gala. I let myself inside the big door using my old code, and I stood in the middle of his sitting room waiting for him to arrive. When Rafael walked inside the apartment and closed the door, I did not waste any time at all as I confronted him immediately."Give me the private keys to my family estate right now," I said, stepping directly into his path as my hands shook with anger.Rafael pulled off his black suit jacket and threw it onto the couch. "I am not giving you any keys tonight, Isadora," he said, stepping toward me as my breath hitched in my throat."You lied to me again," I said, po
