The gates closed behind her and Mira found herself in the sea of hopeless eyes. It's like they all accepted that they will die today. But on the bright side, the injured were now fine including Kebin.
Everyone was silent. Only the shrieks of the monsters and the sound of incoming footsteps outside the gates can be heard. All eyes were on Serra who looked so exhausted.

Serra was to shocked and confused to move. Her eyes were still on the woods. Something struck on her heart, stirring up her thoughts.Then Serra turned around and saw the aftermath of the battle. The ground was bloody and smelled of blood and guts. Dead bodies were scattered around like a debris: decapitated heads, arms, and legs. The world was fucked up and so was Serra. The sun was up in the sky, giving light to the world. She's getting late. Serra woke up on her mother's voice calling her name. She bolt upright, her eyes still closed. She have dark circles under her eyes since she did not have enough sleep that night, her mind wandering somewhere. They laughed.They reached the river and they sat on the river bank where a big tree stood beside them, its shadow covering the two of them from the sun. The wind now colder mixed with the misty scent of the river. The water below them calm and clear, the fishes swam in freedom.The river is not that deep, they used to swim and play on it together with Haris. She was shaking and the grasses below her withered as if like feeling her pain. Serra sat on dark corner of the guardhouse, her knees on her chest and she buried her face between them as she cried. The guardhouse is where they put someone who has committed crime in the village. The guardhouse was quite big, but not as big as the storage houses. There's nothing on the inside of the house, just the four corners of the room and on the floor were stem and scrapes of wheat that forms like a bed on the ground. The house was dark but there's a hole on the upper side of the wall where streaks of light pass through it, illuminating the room. The patrols bring her there after Mira left. The council held and emergency meeting for the next trade - if there's still trade after what happened to Haris and the others - and to her punishment. Maria was preparing their dinner, sautéed potatoes and carrots - again. The sound of the oil as it sizzles in the hot pan sounds pleasing and soothing to Serra's ears. It was like music. The smell of carrots and potatoes dances in the air inside the cabin. Serra was used to that smell as she grows up eating it. She was feet away from her mother, washing the dishes.The sky was now dark and a crescent moon in a perfect sickle shape, shone brightly above, giving light to the world.
