Nyra’s heart rang.

“Tonight she dies.”

The words echoed inside her head and she pressed one hand over her stomach and her breathing became fast.

She took one slow step backward and the voices continued behind the wall.

“There will only be one guard outside.”

“Kill her before anyone notices.”

“Do not fail this time.”

Nyra bit her lower lip to stop herself from making a sound, her baby moved and she closed her eyes.
