Because you loved me

Author's POV

The sunlight rays gently filtered through the curtains, casting a warm glow on the disorganized bed where two figures were lying next to each other, hugging each other, completely naked, only covered with a white sheet.

Krystie stretched her arms and opened her eyes. She was feeling her body sore. 'Maybe it's because of the long day that I had yesterday,' she thought to herself.

But that was only until everything settled in her mind that she finally rose suddenly, memories of last night flooding her mind. Her legs were weak, and she ended up falling back on the bed with a thud.

Krystie was shocked to find a handsome young man sleeping right beside her. His face was very calm and pale yet dangerous at a closer glance. She was not sure why his face was a little familiar to her, but she didn't have time to think of where exactly she had seen it. The only thing that she could think of was to run, yes, run for her dear life before he woke up and found her. She didn't know how to face him because she didn't even know him, they were strangers to each other.

Krystie opened the door slowly and slipped out. The young man on the bed finally stirred from his sleep, and as he saw the disappearing silhouette of her back running out of the room, he only smirked to himself.

'Young lady, do you think that you can just run away from me after what happened last night? You took advantage of me and you'll take responsibility!'

But now he allowed her to run all she wanted no matter how much she would, he could always find her. Everything in this city was at his exposure that nothing, absolutely nothing, could hide from him, let alone a mere lady.

Ronnie, who by then was on his way to the hotel room was surprised when he met a dishevelled-looking lady running out of Lucian's room. She was half-dragging her left foot in the process. It didn't make any sense to him to think, let alone see a lady walking right out of Lucian's room.

Ronnie ran right into the room without knocking, only to see his boss seated at the edge of the bed smiling. For a moment he thought maybe he was dreaming that he had to pinch himself, and it was only after he felt it hurting that it occurred to him that maybe it was not a dream.

The last time Ronnie had seen Lucian smiling like that was six years ago before the accident. Ever since then, everything has changed, and his boss has turned into the robot that he was.

Ronnie sat down on the sofa uninvited, his mind still trying to process what exactly was happening.

In the ten years that he had known Lucian, there was never a single day that he had ever shown interest in any lady, and this had made many people think that maybe he was gay save that he had never shown any interest in any man too.

Ronnie applauded Lucian in his mind. They had just arrived last night, and here his boss had already hooked up with a lady. Seeing the condition of the bed, very disorganized and with a red stain on the sheets, he knew that the two had most probably shared a very rough night.

A mischievous smirk tugged at the corners of Ronnie's lips. Immediately, he wanted to tease Lucian for a moment, but Lucian cut him short before he could speak.

"Don't even think about it Ronnie if you don't want me to throw you out of this room right now!" Lucian spoke sternly as he walked to the washroom to freshen up.

All this while Lucian had a smile on his face. Normally, he would always snap at any lady who would try to approach him, yet last night, he had allowed the innocent lamb to make a move on him, and he was not disgusted with her at all.

Thinking of the red stain on the sheets, he chuckled. The girl was untouched just like he was, never been with anyone before. Lucian wondered in his mind why would someone in this world hurt such an innocent soul.

Lucian knew he was not wrong with his impression of her. She seemed so innocent. Obviously, whoever the jerk that had hurt her was such a fool to not have realized that he had lost something precious.

"Hello stranger, can you please help me? Just play along, and I will pay you well, I promise!" The young lady had approached him at the entrance of the hotel, just before he had taken a step in.

Lucian could vividly remember last night when the lady approached him. Ronnie had excused himself to pick up a call. He had just arrived in the country after staying abroad for six years. He was not ready to deal with his grandmother's nagging over getting married and getting her great-grandchildren, and so the hotel was the best hideout.

Just before Lucian could say a thing, the young lady had pulled him with herself to a table where four more young people sat, his nephew Alex among them.

"Here, I told you. This is my boyfriend. He is here to pick me up, right sweetheart?" the young lady had declared, leaving Lucian also speechless.

"Come on baby, you don't have to hook up with some random guy to make me jealous," Alex had declared when he had watched his shocked expression. Most probably he hadn't recognised him at all.

Alex wasn't sure why the young man looked so familiar, just like his uncle. But he immediately dismissed the thoughts out of his head, maybe he really was drunk that he had started seeing things because his uncle was abroad, and he had sworn never to come back again.

"Krystie, you don't have to do that just to get Alex's attention, he is not interested in you!" A lady from the group interjected mockingly.

Krystie had laughed out mockingly, "I knew you wouldn't believe me. I will prove it to you," Krystie had spoken. Lucian had just learned of her name. She had placed her hands on the back of his neck and mumbled a small apology before she tiptoed and kissed him.
