Being Beta Elijah's Mate
Being Beta Elijah's Mate
Author: Shin Sungmi

Impatient and willful

Large black paws grabbed the wolf by its scruff. The wolf flailed around, trying to get away from its attacker, as it attempted to strike its attacker with the claws. But a pained cry escaped from his lips before his breathing came to a halt.

The black wolf which was larger in stature let go of the brown wolf. As it fell on the snowy fields, its blood dyed the white ground red, joining the rest of his companions.

The black wolf stood in the middle of massacred wolves, feeling proud of its masterpiece and appearing menacing. After that, the wolf strode away as indifference returned to its eyes, replacing the bloodlust.

The steps left behind by the black wolf would soon be covered by the blowing snow.

A couple of wolves howled upon seeing their commander make its way further into the border. They caught up to it and followed it before the black wolf signaled them to step away.

They obeyed after bowing their heads in respect.

Black wolf stood straight, staring at the sky, as its body soon distorted to form a two-legged being. The woman reached out her hand to grab the shirt from a nearby tree and wore it before buttoning it.

She matched it with a pair of black pants before tying her shoulder length black hair into a ponytail. Those black eyes of hers were filled with everlasting coldness and arrogance. Her features were sharp and domineering due to the courtesy of the alpha blood running through her veins.

Her brooding and overbearing personality on top of that made her even more threatening, making one unable to breath loudly in her presence. Coupled with that, she had her impatient and unfriendly nature. Came along with that was her immense strength that landed her the position of commander in the pack.

The position was made for her as she enjoyed coloring her hands in red while watching her victims breathe their last. It gave her the pleasure nothing else did.

“Commander,” a man greeted her, bowing his head.

Ashlyn arched her eyebrows, signaling for the man to continue speaking.

“Beta asked for your presence at his office.”

She then waved her hand dismissively, but that man didn’t move away. She scowled at him, displeased at his attitude.

“I apologize, but the beta ordered me to make sure you visit his office first. Please don’t make difficult for me.”

The man shuddered under her fierce eyes. Not wishing for him to faint, she entered the large mansion in front of her.

It was the pack house. The image of it was warm and cozy, something Ashlyn believed didn’t go well with her personality. The place was often filled with the sound of laughter and joy. There wasn’t a moment where it didn’t stay busy.

At her presence, everyone felt intimidated, and noises already quietened down. Ashlyn didn’t spare the feared werewolves a glance before climbing up the stairs.

Once she was gone, everyone released the breath they were holding, and relief spread through them. However, seeing how she entered the Beta’s office, they were afraid of the matters getting tense again.

Ashlyn knocked on the door.

“Enter.”

When Ashlyn pushed open the door, she was greeted by the petrichor mixed along with the musky notes of cedarwood and citrus. The refreshing scent managed to mess with her heartstrings, getting her to knees to be weak.

It made her want to give in to desires, wrap her hands around the blond man sitting behind the desk, press her lips against him, and mark him by biting into that fair skin of his, leaving behind her scent on him.

Seeing how his neck was clean made the possessiveness inside her rise. Not a moment passed by that she hated of being unable to claim him as hers and only hers.

“Hurry up! I have to shower. Due to a certain impatient and willful beta, I am sweaty and hot now.”

Ashlyn’s voice was filled with anger as she glowered at him. Even though she had alpha blood in her, it was unacceptable for her to speak to the beta in this manner. But Ashlyn, unwilling to bow her head, didn’t care.

“Mind your tone,” he said— his voice dropping low warningly while trying to establish his dominance. But as always, it didn’t have much impact on her.

There was a heavy feeling inside her chest that she pushed aside.

Ashlyn sneered.

“You are pathetic for a beta, aren’t you? You need to work hard with that dominance of yours.”

Pulling out chair before him, she sat down on it. As she leaned against it, one of her legs was on top of the other.

He growled at her before composing himself. Her infuriating behavior and insolence at this point had become norm to him. Even the beastly side of him didn’t feel much challenged by it surprisingly.

Ashlyn took a moment to admire the beta.

One look at him would be enough to make them associate the word elegant and noble to him. He wore his blue shirt neatly with the collar folded perfectly and having no creases. His blond hair was arranged well, accentuating that graceful image of his.

Coupled with that, he had a pleasant voice— mellow yet deep. He talked nicely as well, drawing one in easily. Those green eyes of his were unique. Seeing the shade only on him, Ashlyn found them to be pretty.

He had flawless, pale hands. Veins ran through his arm, disappearing into his sleeve, and becoming more prominent as he flexed those muscular arms.

He was attractive to the point it drove her crazy. She wanted to lock him up only for her eyes for admire and shower him with all her affections. The alpha blood in her came with intense possessiveness.

However, the art of self-control she mastered was strong.

“Alpha River contacted me. You offended him big time. Unless you get down on your knees to apologize, he will wage a war against our pack,” he spoke.

“That weakling? Not bad. He has guts.”

“You killed his son. His heir. Do you think he will spare you easily for it?”
